Shyness is nice, but, shyness can stop you......
err....from doing all the things in life you'd like to.
I used to be incredibly shy. I would actively avoid situations where I might be called upon to talk to people that I didn't know and probably missed out on many potentially life affirming encounters as a result.
I remember going to this village disco (Yes, I know, but this was semi-rural Hampshire and so it was that or cow tipping) when I was about 14 and simply not being able to say anything to anyone. The woman who was running the event kept on insisting that I go up and ask girls to dance, but, this thought filled me with feeling of abject horror! I mean when you're 14 you're basically terrified of girls your own age....they're all cool as fuck, glamorous, sophisticated and want to pull your 19 year old brother. My shaggy haircut and PWEI 'Galaxian Patrol Tour 1992' tee shirt was never going to have the desired effect.
Within the past year and having just reached the not all that tender age of 28 I find that for the very first time I no longer have this problem at all.
Would you say that you're shy or are you blessed with natural confidence?
