So this was aired last night in the states. Has anybody downloaded it yet? good/bad? Hmm?
Also - I won't be checking this thread again until sunday night when I see. Expect lots of feedback and theories, because I know everyone is looking forward.

Some expectations:
It to start with a new character or quite a big reveal - like Desmond and Juliet in s2 and s3. Maybe whoever's on the boat?
Possibly feature a flashforward again?
The boat people not to arrive until the end of the episode, and that to be the cliff-hanger.
Lots of sadness when Claire and Hurley find out about Charlie's death.
Lots of Locke/Jack arguments.

Just finished watching it. And it was good!
I wont post any spoilers though.
apparently there's
a babylon 5 crossover, the shadows were actually the smoke monster, jack is a mimbari spy and hurley was Londo in disguise. fuck! EarthGov were the ones responsible for the island all along! and now deep space nine has entered their orbit after entering a wormhole, and Sisko is well pissed!

omg omg 6 make it off the island. So we know kate jack and hurley are 3 plus whoever was in the coffin plus another two, im guessing sawyer is also one of them.
We also know this boat is not how they get off the island cos hurley goes with locke although he regrets the decision?! so maybe the people on the boat arent all bad.
It sounds like from the flashforwards that they agreed to keep quiet about the island in exchange for getting off it or something and they left people behind. This is probably what haunts jack and why he tells kate he wants to go back. Also cedric daniels was awesome as the non-oceanic guy asking if the people on the island are still alive.
When hurley is in the interogation room and imagines it flooding charlie has "they need you" written on his hand.
When Hurley sees jacobs house. Jacks dad is sitting in the chair...

was the first episode where i've felt the writers set out to finish off storylines, rather than simply throw more stuff at you.
for example, if this was last series then hurleys flashfrwd/bk woulda been a lot more mysterious. as it is we still saw what freaked him out etcetc and every clip was immense.

tis all bout getting into the action with the LOST. Well the confusion anyway.
Man I love it so, even if it'll never ever make any sense in the end and have to go soooooo X-Files to pull any sense outta its ass.
I was underwhelmed
i think the problem is that it seems such a long time since season 3, that I've forgotten half of what's happened.
i don't think it was a brilliant opener to a new season
Lost is one of my favourite shows and i was well looking forward to it but i felt the episode was a bit predictable (mainly compared to its previous unpredictability) and i dnt think there was a huge amount to go on.
I thought the twist at the end of last season of them getting off the island was brilliant, but i feel it's a little bit of an anti-climax with the knowledge that they got off. It's a bit more of a drama in terms of more to do with emotions and relationships rather than the natural mystique and twist and turns of the programme.
However, that they tell you only 6 get out is quite brilliant.

i think he flashforwards in the last episode were pre-going mental
cos he says he's thinking of growing a beard, innit.
so presumably, something happens when he's off the island that makes him go a bit nuts

I couldnt really imagine Hurley being selfish enough to leave without Claire + baby, and probably Sun as well.

favourites:
Flash-forward. Really changed the show, rather than the flashbacks being quite frustrating and sometimes boring, the FF makes it so fresh. No longer what happens on the island is the most interesting part of the show. Which are the other members of the Oceanic Six!? I'm guessing Claire + baby, because Desmond saw her in the future getting onto a helicopter. The last one...? Sawyer: "I've got to get back to HIM?"?
Locke vs. Jack! One of my favourite themes of the show was kinda forgotten in series 3 (don't think they saw eachother at all until the end?) - back to the whole hatch "man of science, man of faith" hatch-style stuff. amazing. Jack had the intention of killing him...

watching this episode another 3 times (yep, i've really missed this show) i'm fairly confident that the helicopter peeps are dharma, hence why there was so much emphasis on their past story in the last series.
