Realising that you'd actually far rather be an American
I've always felt pretty happy about being British in general and English in particular, but, the more I encounter the general public on this fair isle of ours, the more convinced I am that HMS Blighty is adrift and taking on water fast.
Not for the usual Daily Mail reasons like immigration or anything, quite the reverse. Bournemouth and Southampton have loads of Poles now and to be quite honest I'd be more than willing to ship out most of the 'natives' to make more room for them.
It's just that, well, nothing really works does it?
Everything is too expensive...yes, laughably expensive and probably broken or at the very least defective.
Ridiculously shit housing costs joke money and we're all going to have to work until we're 70 for a MEGALOLZ!!!excuse for a pension.
Obviously, not everything is great in the USA, there's no social welfare net so to speak, capital punishment is a bit dodgy and in parts of Texas you'll be sentenced to 35 years of anal rape for stealing a Twinkie (on your third offence anyway), but, generally it all seems like a bit of a laugh.
Apart from anything else, when society does ultimately descend into a post apocalyptic nightmare landscape where the survivors are forced to battle renegade motorcycle gangs, zombies, cyborgs and robotic scorpions I would like to live somewhere with easy access to automatic weapons.
That is all.
