Lunch with Prole: Your relatives in World War II
I was just thinking today that although the 'madge' (majority) of people on here probably had grandparents in the last world war, very soon it will be most people who had GREAT grandparents 'in the war' - irrelevant as this observation was what did those old people youre related to and are probably dead 'do' during 1939-1945? One granddad of mine was a successful businessman who managed to weadle out of it and just do homeguard stuff when required whilst his wife stayed at home sewing - my other granddad was 'Tommy' scum and was 'at' Dunkirk whilst his wife worked in a Rizla factory.
It's funny to think that 'our' grandchildren will talk about - probably about 'did your grandparents download In Rainbows or spend 40 pounds on the boxset? or 'My granddad djed at the barfly and danced on a table with Jim from Doves whilst screaming the main refrain of Chelsea Dagger in each others coked up faces'
Cor Blimey etc
