My wonderful day
Getting home tonight was horrid. I was rushing around trying to get my train in a busy station, looking through my pockets for my ticket. I set down my stuff on the ledge of a closed ticket window whilst shuffling around in my bag for my lost return ticket. I found it eventually, went through the gate, then patting my pockets I realised I'd left a couple of things on the ledge, and went back...
Having managed to leave them unattended for about a minute, my iPod and new Nokia N95 phone were gone, and there was just some crumpled receipts where they had been a few seconds before.
Security were sympathetic but unhelpful, knowing how frustrating it was that the thief was probably somewhere on the station. The phone was pretty quickly turned off, confirming that it hadn't just been lost or picked up.
The handset is now locked and useless, and the SIM cancelled, so the thief won't be able to use them.
The iPod, however, was a gift from my mother to replace the one I lost when I was mugged earlier in the year. And that can't be locked.
£700 worth of stuff gone in one minute of carelessness.
Nice one, craig.
