A sticky situation concerning my degree...advice needed
So, although this may seem silly, after yesterday's stuff about journalism degrees being totally worthless, i am 99% considering not starting the one i was going to start. I was going to go to a local uni (Falmouth) so that I could stay close to certain people, but now I realise that, a) the course will get me nowhere, it's not even NCTJ accredited, and b), it's silly to stay somewhere for the sake of other people. So, after reading other articles after reading the long thread yesterday, I think I want to do a degree in French, at a decent university, but I also want to do an NCTJ accredited course (which is 2 years). So, as far as I can see, my options are:
year out + degree + NCTJ course
first year of degree (the law bit) + degree + NCTJ
NCTJ + degree (but then I would worry that I'd forget my French).
????????????????
Does anyone have any suggestions of a good university to go to? I don't want to go to Oxbridge (I don't think I'd get in anyway), or London (I just really dislike it), so where else is good? I have a-levels in French, German and English Lit, all at A, and an AS in art, also at A. It may seem flippant and ridiculous asking for help on a message board, but I am just trying to get advice from as many places as possible.
