Foot and Mouth
Anybody else finding the coverage of this quite interesting? I'm not going to pretend that I know much about it, but I've been reading a lot of articles from 2002 after the last outbreak and it seems that the media are going about it in the same hysterical way. If anybody knows any more about it I'd be quite keen to hear what they have to say. According to certain articles I've read, the cows are able to immunise themselves against it if theyre left for 2-3 weeks rendering the whole mass cull completely useless (and therefore prevents them from being able to develop any resistance). The government refuses to vaccinate, and yet we import meat from countries that do. Also, the parent company of the Pirbright company apparently has working relationships with 35 governments, 34 of which admit a relationship with the company, the only government which refuses to acknowledge this is ours. Its all quite baffling. I'm not going to get swept up in an inverse hysteria, but other pieces of info (like the completely arbitrary 3km exclusion zone) just dont seem to add up...
