Further Reading
I have a month to go in my Summer holiday. After weeks of jobseeking, including resorting to asking my daddy if he needed me to carry his tools etc. (he's an electrician), I'm jobless, and I'm now a housewife, who just cleans up and does all the things my mum would normally do. I'm getting a bit of money for it, too, so its good.
Anyway, I need something to read when I have spare time. I've just finished 'Tender is the Night' by Fitzgerald, which I bought after reading and loving 'The Great Gatsby'. It was fantastic, and I think I even preferred it slightly.
What I'm looking for is something similar in terms of period. Something written in that 'Lost Generation', from the Jazz Age. Also, preferably something American.
To give you an idea of what I don't want, I tried 'Naked Lunch' and really did not like it at all. I know that's not from the era I'm after, but I read it before Gatsby etc., and I don't want to invest in anything similar, because it was a bit of a waste of £8.
DiS has recommended me to some really decent books in the past. Its sort of the one field in which I can trust a lot of your opinions. So tell me what I should read, and I'll be thankful.
