Fopp
Fopp, the record store that called in the administrators last weekend, is to hold a massive unprecedented giveaway of stock to loyal customers.
The company announced last week that it was closing its 105 UK stores due to, what it described as, the "diminished popularity of CDs" in favour of music downloads.
Mark Johnson of Fopp said this morning:
"Any customer that who produces a valid receipt issued within the last three months will be elligible to receive a CD free of charge. After that, a 50% reduction on anything will apply. This is a goodwill gesture to our loyal customers."
The shops around the UK, which have been closed since last Friday, will re-open for three final days this Friday, Saturday and Sunday, 6th-8th July.
Receivers Thomas Swagge & Partners have described the move as "unusual but legal", and will wait until next week before meeting to decide what to do with the companies assets.
