So, I went to Oxford...
for a uni open day today. I'm not really sure where this thread is heading, but it made me ponder life, and so on, as Oxford should. Although, probably more cinically than it should have.
So, I went to the History of Art open day, and had to write down which college i attend, next to my name. I noticed an unnerving amount of 'Eton's on the list, which i suppose i should have expected. I then soon found out that Birmingham was classed as Northern. I wondered what that made me, then.
Anyway, i may as well give this thread a point...so, although i was in no way born with a silver spoon yadda yadda yaaah, i have had a comfortable life, and feel like i have been privileged. HOWEVER, i have never felt so 'common', for want of a much better word, before. Although it didn't bother me, it was highly apparent the difference in quality between the educations I have had,and what felt like the other students at the open day, which lead me to think about Public vs. state schools. I was specifically asked which college i go to, with the student who asked me (i'm supposing), presuming it would be a well renowned..it was all a bit bizzare for me, really. I've never noticed how huge the divide between classes actually is, before today.
SO, basically, what do people think about the different types of education, and which kind have you had? Has it had a strong influence on you, do you think? AND SO ON AND SO FORTH.
Soz for going on, like! :(
