so sick of office politics
Somebody at work this morning quite openly implied that they had been going through my desk drawers.
This individual is not my boss, but the person charged with instructing me on the latest slice of utter tedium I am to undertake. This person is well known for their particularly capricious attitude towards junior members of staff, particularly those who are overqualified and not meek and fawning.
It's becoming pretty clear that this individual has taken against me and that they are searching for excuses to stick the knife in. I won't deny I have an ego and am quite averse to being spoken to as if I'm an idiot, and in the interests of maintaining my sanity, don't have my nose to the grindstone for eight hours a day, but other more submissive colleagues are getting away with a lot more while blind eyes are turned.
For a week or so I've been considering approaching the department manager and outlining my (and by extension other staff's) problems with this person's attitude. It is certainly reducing general goodwill and creating division. This person isn't a manager or supervisor and are clearly not well suited to people management. Also I'd like to know to whether looking in my desk was officially sanctioned.
This is the most professional thing to do, right? Putting up and shutting up is not the best course of action? Right?
