(footballcentric) Lacking happiness
Yeah, some of you will rejoice. Yes! you will say, happy in the knowledge that Leeds will be playing third tier football next season. Well, fuck you, frankly. They do have some moronic supporters. They do have a reputation. Dennis Wise is, frankly, one of the worst human beings to ever stalk the planet. But forget that.
I've also just heard the news this morning that Leeds United Football Club are, in all probability, going into administration as well.
I may not be the biggest fan in the world, but Leeds are the club I was brought up supporting. I still remember journeying up to Elland Road from my Derbyshire home, with my mother, at the age of 12-13, to see games, whenever time would allow. They were great days.
Sure, since then, I've fallen in love with non-league football (living next door to Gresley Rovers' ground will do that to a man) and become a staunch supporter. And, when I went to Uni, I ended up watching Lincoln City week-in, week-out. Because it was cheaper for a poor student like myself, and gettting into away games was easier. And I adored that team.
But always, in the background, were Leeds. The first result I look for in the paper. My default answer to 'Who do you support?', whether or not in recent times that support has been as strong as other people's, or as strong as it has been from me in the past.
I'm not even going to say 'the mighty Leeds have fallen', or claim that they should be playing in a higher division that results have suggested this year. There is now a chance that Leeds might not even exist this time next year.
This is not the best start to a week I've ever had.
