Some notes on Bryan Ferry

Of course there was 'chat' about this yesterday but what is he apologising for really - if he'd said 'I thought the final solution was fantastic and what Goering did was genius itself I would understand the extent of 'anger', but to say what thousands of people 'into' uniforms and imagery of the Third Reich in terms of iconography already have done and then screaming at them 'nazi' just shows that something is wrong, really wrong and needs a rethink.
We'll never know the extent of horror that was experienced thanks to the Third Reich (I'm taking into account all cultures and not just Jewish) and survivors and families obviously rightly associate anything to do with Germany between 1936 and 1945 with this regime. You could argue Hitler and his 'henchmen' ruined the reputation of many artistic heavyweights such as Speer though guilt by association which means that sadly now youre a nazi for appreciating someone's work that wasn't meant to symbolise ethnic cleansing. For the record I appreciate Speer's work as an architect so think of me what you like. I know in my heart what I am and its clearly not a 'holocaust denying racist'.
Seriously some of Germany's past needs to be rethought and finger pointing at easy targets by reactionary groups has got to be somehow slighty tempered better.
