i just got offered a job, advice please
here are facts about it:
its the place i did work experience at last summer
its a house dj bookings agency and record label that its moving into booking indie bands (they already do little man tate!!!! and the noisettes :D)
my older brother works there
id be basically doing the same job as him - office admin, assisting one of the directors and shouting SHOW ME THE MONEY down the phone at estonian club promotors
which is all fairly swish. my brother loves working there.
BUT
the pay is zero for the first month, £400 for the next, £500 for the next after that, until theyre totally happy with me and put me on £20k or something.
that would make the first years salary
just under £10k, then probably up to £20 by the end of the next year.
however, they pay my tax and transport, which is nice.
the other option is to carry on temping probably with Adecco, who last week paid me £300, but that was really crap work, and theyve not given me any work this week and its all uncertain, but most DiSers who've used adecco have had good long term placements pretty soon after starting.
so yeah: thoughts and advice would be appreciated
also i think i might have slight ethical worries about working for a booking agents, cos i know plenty of small gig promotors who get pissed off when a good band starts using an agent and it gets more difficult to put them on.
