bastard banks, part 648.
have many people here successfully threatened to sue the arse off their bank over unfair charges? and got their money BACK (or some of it)?
mine has royally pissed me off today by charging £70 for two 'unpaid' standing orders. i paid in a cheque to my account and the money showed up right away on my internet banking, so i set the standing orders to go through 'as soon as possible' (their wording). it took that as the next day, by which point the cheque obviously hadn't cleared, and there wasn't money to cover these standing orders (rent, and something else i forget), so they're charging me £35 for each of them. this sounds a little unfair. the money was in my account 2 days later or something.
so now i'm going through the whole tiresome process of requesting how many of these charges i've had over the last 6 years (probably around £200 in total)... and so on.
and now i'm gonna have to shop for a new bank account in case they shut me down. i've been with them since i was 16. :-(
