The Tourettes, Glasgow, tomorrow
I'm cut and pasting this from the Dolly Mixture mailout
Energetic Stockholm six-piece The Tourettes pay their first rock trip to the Scottish isles and we swear this wont be their last as word spreads. Three guys and three girls, they create majestic, noisy and rather quirky indie previously described as The B52s meets Bjork. Team scandopunk is Marten Holmberg (guitars), Mira Eklund (vocals), Anders Enge (guitars), Sibille Attar (synths/b-vox), Daniel Martinez (bass/b-vox) and Ursula Bohm (drums). See www.thetourettes.com or www.myspace.com/thetourettes for more.
Support comes courtesy of Nice Man and The Bad Boys, Francis MacDonalds (Teenage Fanclub, ex-BMX Bandit and Shoeshine Records head honcho) solo pop project with a little help from his friends. Fresh from a recent tour of Germany, the boys are ready to rock, in a pop kind of way with songs about monkeys and err grey hair. More information can be found at www.shoeshine.co.uk/niceman.htm.
The Dolly Mix DJs and guest DJ Gav Dunbar (Camera Obscura) spin a mix of downright rude, nasty and shiny happy girl-led tunes between the bands.
Tickets are 4 on the door. 8pm - midnight.
I'll hopefully be there if anyone wishes to approach and touch the hem of my garments.
