couldn't sound more like the national if they tried, which i guess they probably are. Really hard.
They sound like Lambchop doing an impression of The National. Good luck to them I say.
but yeah, i don't think you can get away with naming yourself after a band and then trying to sound like them. Stylistically they're obviously very influenced by The National. Vocally, they don't sound completely like them, arguably as much like Future Islands in parts at least. I'd have probably investigated them off name alone, but am turned off by how similar they're trying to sound. I'm sure they'll do quite well, though, and they seem like decent lads (if that even matters).
so affected in a really unnatural way. Music is dull, like The National but with none of the ear for arrangement.
and "Flowers to Burn" is OK.
The remaining tracks on the album I consider expendable or forgettable.
