This makes me sad.
but Milton Keynes Bowl? Nope
was at The Astoria maybe five or six years ago. My mate struck gold by getting a pair of tickets for that venue. I saw them at Hyde Park a few years back too. They're an excellent live band but Milton Keynes is a hassle for me to get to. I hope not but maybe they've signing an exclusivity thing where they won't play Hyde Park or Wembley Stadium etc.
Would have been amazing after Riot Act, but I've not listened to anything new since then and in my old age I'm disliking even slightly bigger gigs more and more. Sad :(
are only playing 11 european dates, so i think Milton Keynes and Leeds first direct Arena, Tue July 08 2014 are the onlt two uk dates
I might try and make the pilgrimage up for that...
I went to Ozzfest there in 2001 :')
I assume that it's going to be an all-day/four bands type affair?
i like them a lot. i can't imagine a world in which i go back to milton keynes though.
Or is it noticably worse in some way than other large venues e.g. Wembley Stadium, Hyde Park, etc?
or just the same size i suppose - headlining reading, hyde park etc. but the size combined with travel combined with milton keynes itself being a pretty shitty place (and i don't fancy being stuck in the venue for a whole day - i dread to think what kind of dross they'll stick on as support - hey, i could be wrong) it just doesn't lend itself to what i'd imagine being a great gig-going experience.
But not liking this choice of venue at all. If they add some other good bands to the bill that might improve things, although iut's on a Friday, so then requires time off if it's a full day thing. Boo hiss.
Never been to MK Bowl - do they time the end of the gig so that people can catch trains back into London?
in 1999 (Big Day Out) they had courtesy buses going between the venue and station. The buses and trains were jam packed though, and it was touch and go whether you arrived back in London in time to catch ongoing connections. I'm tempted to go the Leeds Arena gig and stay overnight instead...
The LME whingeing in here is a thing of beauty.
Difficult to get to? Train times?
Although, to be tbf, doing just 2 UK dates, and as many tour dates in Australia as they are in the whole of Europe strikes me as a little odd.
Have never been to the Bowl* myself, but MsWza grew up just around the corner from it, has been a couple of times, and hasn't come up with any scare stories or major problems.
Fingers crossed for a decent support line-up.

And am looking forward to it. Have never seen them, so it's about damn time I did. Venue is not ideal, but it's hardly like PJ are going to be playing Brixton or somewhere like that, so it's fine. Hoping indeed for some good bands on the undercard.
i would be really up for this.
such a great band live, can count on a few great surprises in the setlist and for a rock band of that size they manage to not draw a crowd full of non-fan dickheads, even to a show at hyde park.
