bar the good song, it's not a record you really need, is it, and i quite like the Pixies?
genuinely prefer the feral rawness of it.
*sits down, has a bit of a cry*
don't like the production on Surfer Rosa, lets it down a bit. Though I know people who think Surfer Rosa is the best album BECAUSE of the production. Horses fuck horses, I suppose.
Both excellent albums though - definitely both 9+ in the grand scheme of things. Stop being silly.
...but for me, Surfer Rosa just hangs together better as an LP.
Its pretty strong all the way through. Break My Body is probably my favourite Pixies song. I don't like Doolittle as much although there are probably more great songs on it overall.
I GOT NO LIPS I GOT NO TONGUE
It does seem to come down to which production sound you prefer.
Bit needy, tbh.
You like what you like, nothing wrong with that chief.
If you sub in The Purple Tape for Come On Pilgrim.
Yes you are
You're wrong, though
with every damn word of this
especially the bit about Break My Body
It'd be like someone asking you which of your kids you love most. But of the two I think SR is slightly more unhinged & great for screaming along to like a maniac when I'm doing the cooking. "HE BOUGHT ME A SODA...HE BOUGHT ME A SODA...AND HE TRIED TO MOLEST ME IN A PARKING LOT! YEP! YEP YEP YEP!"
surfer rosa will always be my favourite, remember that doolittle got great reviews when it came out & their popularity soared, but it's got pixies worse song on it (monkeys gone to heaven) & is far too front loaded
having said that the doolittle tour was probably their best for me
Break My Body, Bone Machine, Gigantic, Where is My Mind?
Best songs and best sound in my view and it also hangs together brilliantly. I like Doolittle but it doesn't have the concentrated intensity of Surger Rosa.
I'm not intending to cry about someone else not liking it though.
& I'm a pixies fan. The ones I like are usually hated by others. Bossa Nova & Tromp le Monde.
But Surfer Rosa is also outstanding in its own right so no sir, I do not agree with you.
*Wipes cheek* - bone dry mate, bone dry!
i just think you're a set of boring, predictable cunts.
feels like they were still feeling their way into their songwriting. Still a more than decent record, but the other three piss all over it.
Can't understand why Come On Pilgrim gets so little respect.
And I said YOU FUCKIN' DIE!
Dick Valentine Of The Electric Six covered HEY and it was very good.
kik's an easy one to start with because he mades lots of threads.
discovered this "function" last year after i realised a thread i posted in wasn't getting bumped :D
that people are having secret conversations in
i *think* i know what thread i'm referring to, even though i hadn't posted in it at the time of bragging.
BUT look at these scattered replies in last year's CG drama thread
so i'm sure a few folk outside the redacted are aware of this quirk, but choose not to use this information.
*scavengers on a once-thriving thread, but now an abandoned barren wasteland
Surfer Rosa > Doolittle > Come on Pilgrim > Trompe Le Monde > Bossanova > a hypothetical B-Sides compilation > Indie Cindy
Am I doing this right? TTYS
Doolittle > Come on Pilgrim = Surfer Rosa = Bossanova = Tromp Le Monde > a hypothetical B-Sides compilation > Indie Cindy
