bought it for my wee sis.
for me - egyptian hip hop,also cant mind its name
there's LOADS of amazing stuff on it and some dud stuff - the vinyl is the amazing stuff mainly but when you order the vinyl (180g 11 tracks) you get the mp3 d/l immediately (30 tracks) and the vinyl comes with the 2 CDs as well (26 tracks)
the stuff I like best on it is something I never really considered existed but in hindsight obviously did - that being French bands influenced directly by disco and post-punk and making slightly awkward situationist funk in French!
It's so totally charming and wonderful
but also the range of stuff on this label retrospective gives really quite a fascinating snapshot of an alternative Northern European angle on the whole post-punk journey into some kind of now! futurism ...if that makes sense
the communication between French culture and American black music has always been productive - most noticeably in jazz - I had just never considered a direct channel between New York of the early 80s & Paris, but here it is
