I know that someone says this everytime
but no Scotland? I think they're playing the Saturday of T in between the Leeds and Gateshead dates, but is a standalone Glasgow or Edinburgh date really too much to ask for?
I got so excited when I saw UK tour dates
Why is it not just English tour dates? I see no Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland here? It's too late for this kind of disappointment (I work nightshift).
It just doesn't really make sense on any level
They're already up playing in Scotland that weekend, so they can't argue it's an expensive detour, and surely they'd get a crowd at least as big as the one they;d get in Gateshead?
The only thing i can think of is the bastards at T have gotten them as an exclusive Scottish show, that or they're just being a bit mean :(
they'll have signed a thing saying they can't play elsewhere in Scotland
because they're playing T
Thought that would be the case
Thanks for confirming though. Looks like I need to get myself a ticket to T, then... though it's not uncommon that once a festival sells out they start to relax the exclusivity clause for most bands regarding small, warm-up gigs, is it?
Having said that, their schedule is full at the time, so I doubt that's likely :/
Gutted that it's T weekend they're playing Gateshead
A trip down there would totally be worthwhile to see them but it's almost impossible to get time off work that weekend.
i saw them at ABC on their No Ones First But Your Next tour thing.
I asw them at the ABC on the We Were Dead Tour
Good gig and they played some of the older stuff too, but somewhat marred by the starstruck fan who kept shouting "It's Johnny Marr" throughout the gig (pun intended naturally).
Looks like anyone in Scotland would need to...
HEAD SOUTH HEAD SOUTH!!!
Sorry!
Concorde 2? NICE
Are tickets on sale?
Tickets on sale Friday (I just checked) close to £20 but worth it (for me)
Love The Sage
worth going down south for
Amazing scenes
The Trinity is only about 2 minutes from where I live.
ooh rescue rooms
their last album was dreadful mind.
wo
cockpit
wo
I wonder
if they'll be headlining Truck?
It's the 19th/20th
Probably not
But that would be SWEET
they're announcing more acts tonight though
oh man please let this happen
That
was my first thought. They'd be a really good fit.
yeah
and there was this last month http://www.facebook.com/TruckFestival/posts/10151505862985129
so we know they have a second headliner, and this is the first announcement since then
aaaahhhhh
It's Spiritualized
yeah, just seen
bummer
guess they're on for Latitude then?
yay Sage 2.
praying it doesn't get upgraded to the main hall.
Also surely a schedule like this indicates that the new album will be out this year
surely? right? they never tour the UK unless they're promoting stuff.
almost certainly
About ******* time too
it is lucky that each of their albums is basically the length of 1 and a half
big fan of how Pitchfork's documentary about The Lonesome Crowded West is shorter than the LP itself
I dunno, they toured No One's First And You're Next here
but then I think they toured again a year later for no reason.
not a full UK tour
American dates and festivals, yes
Loads of these venues are blatantly getting upgraded at 11am on Friday
These venues are all pretty small yeah?
Fuck sake. Greetin.
Got my tickets
really hope they dont upgrade the venue (purely selfish reasons)
Same as
looking forward to my first visit to The Cockpit.
Yup
the problem is Concorde 2 is only a 600 capacity venue.... after that you make a huge leap to the Dome/Brighton Centre which are way bigger... after seeing them at The Royal Albert Hall I think they'll always suit a smaller venue then anything close to that.
Nice
Really like The Trinity Centre. Lovely stuff.
London sold out quick!
Checked at 9:20 and they were gone.
Can't believe I missed out.
Go to Brighton? Smaller venue and still tickets
There were still tickets available for this directly through Songkick
at 15:24 that day. I bought a couple.
Brighton tickets got
So excited for this and a new album. Saw them in the Concorde 2 in 2004, and then few years later at Koko (albeit during the Johnny Marr years) and Concorde was so much better, make the trip down, it will be worth it!
Really hope they don't upgrade, especially to somewhere like the Corn Exchange. Can't see it going to the Brighton Centre from the Concorde 2 though, fingers crossed.
I always forget Corn Exchange exists ha
yeah that'd be more likely, but I really don't like the Corn Exchange, it feels like a school hall
It really does feel like a school hall
Terrible venue, and one of the very few we have of that size.
Either way though, pretty excited to see them. Have no idea what any new material will sound like, but as long as they keep playing some classics it will be awesome!
The new material sounds diverse
I personally like the sound of this one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=__mcNOU91Qc
Ohhhh
on one listen this sounds good. Thanks!
Also have no problem if this is the single
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CNG_ajov_tw
still a few london tickets available
http://www.atpfestival.com/events/modestmousekoko/tickets.php
cant believe i managed to get a ticket at 1:45
really excited, only ever seen them at festivals.
Pondering the Birmingham gig
Same travel time from Oxford and it's close to the station. And it's not sold out already..! Plus maybe I can go see Nils Frahm on the day of the london show instead.
got Birmingham ticket
this morning, rather happy about that.
Seeing them at the Cockpit
Last time was a blast, looking forward to it
Got tickets for Manchester! Very exciting!
Might do Leeds as well if it doesn't sell out.. Cockpit's a bit rubbish though
London date has been moved to the Roundhouse
Hahaha
Balls
One of my least favourite venues in London thanks to its barely-elevated stage.
Now I'm really pissed off with the Nils Frahm clash
Roundhouse >>>>> Koko
Leeds date has upgraded to Stylus now
balls balls balls balls balls
balls.
not a pain to get to from the station at all.
balls.
was really looking forward to seeing them at the cockpit.
balls.
I know up there I said I don't like Cockpit
but I really really don't like Stylus
Brudenell would have been good
Wow
Whoever booked this tour really underestimated their popularity.
They were always going to get upgraded
Its just marketing tricks to build up demand for tickets
It is a bit of a dick move though
considering they would have sold fine anyway
Anyone see them when they weren't that big? I remember excellent
gigs of theirs at The Garage years ago, perhaps late 90s. There was a brilliant gig at The Scala in 2004 where The Shins supported them too.
went to see bright eyes at shepherds bush
specifically to see them support in I think 2004, but the show at troxy a few years ago was a lot better
You saw Modest Mouse support Bright Eyes?
Teenage me is unbelievably jealous. (I'm jealous too)
rilo kiley supported as well
those were the days !
I went to The Shepherds Bush gig too. Those indeed were good
days. Their Garage gigs, one of which was supported by a band called Love as Laughter was brilliant. They're a sadly forgotten about band nowadays. Shame.
Man
£4.65 added on to standard ticket price as a booking fee and for postage. Crazy.
Bristol date moved to the Academy
Sigh.
I might blow up all the larger venues in Brighton as a precaution
...
I saw modest mouse supporting built to spill in 1999 at dingwalls.
Then saw then at the garage. Missed the first show as was ill - ticket says Modesty Mouse on it! Then saw them the next time they played the garage in 2000 for moon & ant. - was great.
