Tindersticks at the Barbican
Apologies if this has already been mentioned... but this is really exciting. Just got my ticket. I only ever saw them on the film score tour, where Stuart Staples had a bad throat so he couldn't sing any songs, so I really can't wait for this.
Also, does anyone know exactly what the 'Across Six Leap Years' album is? I've read in some places that it's a best of, and in others that it contains various re-recordings/re-arrangements of songs from their back catalogue..

My post is near yours on the board at the moment. I've seen them
three times before. First was at The Barbican performing their second album in its entirity, second at Shepherds Bush Empire and third at Somerset House last year. They're hit and miss live for me. The best time was at The Barbican maybe about six or seven years ago. I booked my ticket last night. But just to reiterate, a lot of the front area tickets have gone already so get yours now.
In reply to your question, I don't know what Across Six Leap Years is
exactly but looking at their website it looks like a best of. It makes for a potentially brilliant gig. Despite everyone raving about their album last year, I thought it was average; I'm more a fan of their early stuff. But a best of show of Tindersticks can only be a brilliant thing.
I thought The Something Rain was incredible
but love their early stuff too. I need to explore the other two 'later period' albums though, which I haven't heard.
Seen them around 7-8 times
First time in 1994, was at the show that became the Live at the Bloomsbury album, most recently in Berlin last year on the Something Rain tour. They are a fucking awesome live band and they just get better & better every time I see them.
Thanks for the heads up
Never seen them before, so very excited.
Seen them 5 or 6 times.
Barbican is a perfect venue for them and, if it is a 'best of' gig, it will be incredible.
I would cream myself if
'Across six leap years' was the current incarnation of the band reinterpreting choice selections across the bands catalogue and releasing it as a studio album.
Oh, that I could be in Europe in October, but alas no. Only seen them live once in a church in Bristol, but very very special. And their live records always sound great.
Here seems to be the official word on 'Across six leap years' - by the way

In which case I will be creaming myself but having to wait until October. :(
oh and intriguing what a soundtrack album called 'The Bastards' might sound like...!
Retrospective recording session?
Hmmm!!
just got a ticket for myself in the fourth row pretty central
was gonna book two as there was a couple ten rows back but then i thought i'd rather not talk to anyone for the duration of the gig. now lets hope the people either side are schtum.
I've tickets for the front for E36 and E37. Maybe you're nearby.
I won't talk. Don't worry.
