The Dust Rackets
Hope of the States spin-off thing.
Is anyone else (beyond Arfie/Hibster/Incandenza etc) aware of them/do they have them?

do you reckon we should upload them for people?
is that precept still sacred?
Call me precious, but I wouldn't want to break it regardless.
I spoke to Simon recently about ripping the cassette thing a few of them did as Cape Fear (it's fucking great) and he didn't seem too up for it.
I'm happy to burn a few sets off for people if there's an interest in it.
most of it wasn't very good
i have 3 & 4 i think on CD, 1 & 2 on my old computer. were there 5 or 6 in the end? think they ended up being passed around the old hope of the states board.
what was your username, pal?
i cant remember
i think it would have been either SARS_Volta or Jordan_229/Jordan/Jordan229, SARS Volta is the only 'handle' i've used.
also this seems a good place to ask
did anyone ever get the Mexico86 CD? i didn't pick one up when they supported HOTS. i might make a thread.
They finished on 5.
6 was in the works (iirc they asked board members to provide recordings that they may or may not incorporate into the thing) but they split before it was finished I think.
I think they're all good and provide a genuinely different picture of the band.
Honourable mention to 547.5 day Journal too (which i'll happily upload if people want it)

providing you can get past the lo-fi recording quality.
I had needles needles as a ringtone
(i was brokensocialsteve on the board).
A million marriages is (though not from the dust rackets) is still up there with my favourite HotS tracks.
brokensocialsteve!
i wonder what flowerpot and arfie are up to.
Flowerpot is currently doing something philosophy-y in hte big smoke.
Arfie is doing okay, not seen him properly for a couple of years though. incandenza_ sees a lot more of him I think (and Gamecat too!)
I was Blackeyed Angel
I was too sincere and spoke too much, but that could be forgiven because I was so nice. a bit like a teenaged Xylo or something.
Love you, babe. <3
thx hun xxxx
Hey!
Yeah, and what happened to Tim & Sam's Tim & the Sam Band with Tim & Sam? I remember seeing them at night and day! I got a free tea bag with a cd!
they are now Golden Fables, a very good band who recently toured with Haiku Salut
i probably prefer them to tim & sam..
Tim and Sam are no more. Tim has a new project up and running now... Golden Fable!
They released their debut last year and it's lovely.

Ah!
That might explain why I saw them supporting The Miserable Rich last year (who contain an ex-HOTS member)...
Was that Mike Siddell?
He also contributed (with Warren Ellis) to Josh T. Pearson's record which got a lot of DiS love a while back.
i thought sam from tim and sam was in golden fable..
It's Tim and his girlfriend Becca.
The Sam in T&S was a real person but he wasn't involved in any of their recordings I don't think.
n.b. I haven't seen Tim in about 12 months or so, so there's every chance Sam has joined the live set up? idk.
tim and sam was a guy and girl when i saw them im sure!
i talked to 'becca' as if she was sam anyway. awks. did she ever perform with tim & sam?
If memory serves....
Tim and his friend Sam started messing around when they were at college together, passing each other demos and then adding to what the other had done, and then passing them back. Eventually Sam moved onto different things but Tim decided to keep going with the songs they'd been working on. He decided to keep Sam in the name because he liked how silly it sounded (iirc).
He moved to uni, carried on with it, got some friends to put a live band together inc. his girlfriend, Becca.
T&S kind of ran their course I think and life got in the way (jobs etc). Tim and Becca started up a new project (Golden Fable)and have been doing that for the last 18 months or so.
T&S have/had a charm about them, but I think their work as Golden Fable is big step forward (vocally, in particular)
Being the well connected guy that I am, I can answer some of these questions.
then do so.
