Been curious about it for a while. Have mysteriously had a few gigs to see lined up there before, none of which have ever worked out for some reason...
also been to a few of the other Glasgow venues - quite like the ABC (if only for the fact that you can get close to the front relatively easy) SECC is so-so, same with o2 academy, Arches was a cool concept but the sound was fucking awful at Desaparecidos the other week
barras is the best gig venue i've ever been to
SECC is a cavernous hell-hole
Arches is completely hit or miss depending on which arch it's actually in and what type of act are playing
ABC i quite like but have heard quite a few people complain about the sound, i've always found it to be ok
What's everyone thinking of the new album then? Been listening to it the past couple of weeks and tbh some of the middle tracks sound a bit too Foals-by-numbers, but there are still enough stonkers on there to have a great gig...
I've been to the Barrowlands a few times, it never did much for me until I saw the Twilight Sad there in December. Hoping Foals can bring out the best in it again. I've not seen them since pre-Total Life Forever so it should be interesting.
They were playing their second night at the barras and James was praising the crowd and the city and said he got heckled the night before by someone shouting "Yeah, we've fuckin' heard it!"
So he then applauded us for not taking any shit bringing massive cheers from the audience, said 'Check youtube, we don't get this shit anywhere else!' and then broke into Get Innocuous. Crowd went nuts.
Nope?
sadly not,
sold out.
Is the Barrowlands good?
Looking forward to this, and all my Glasgow mates say its the best venue in the city - is this true?
lots of bands say it's their favourite venue IN THE WHOLE WORLD
it is quite good
Sweet

aye, the arches can be hit or miss
I've never found the sound at the ABC to be very good though.
king tut's is usually fun, if only for the fact that they seem to fit about twice as many people in as they really should!
It's a great venue..
Although it can be a nightmare getting a drink when the place is full.

Still remember his patter at the last show they did there.

:)
Times like that i'm really proud to be a Glaswegian! :)
