Melt! Festival
Who's been? Is it awesome? Line up looks fantastic already (http://www.meltfestival.de/en/acts/acts.html) and I'm really tempted to go.

Also, can someone take me through the logistics of taking a load
of camping stuff on a budget airline? Like obviously I'm sure it would be fine, but it's such a ballache even getting to a festival with all your stuff in the UK I'm wondering how much hassle it would be abroad.
Every year I think about going to this...
...and the one that the same lads organise at Tempelhof Airport. Not made it yet, but the reviews on the efestivals website are always super positive.
As for taking your camping stuff - it is always a major ballache on a plane. Last time I went to Roskilde, I ended up leaving my tent behind as I couldn't face trying to pack it. Either pack super light, with a very small tent, or else do they do a boutique camping option? Might be cheaper to book Lufthansa well in advance rather than go with a budget airline and have to pay for a bag on top.
Also, Wankelmut :D
We have a super-small and light proper backpacking tent actually,
so it'd probably be okay, could probably squeeze it in a rucksack.
Plus you wouldn't be trying to take a million crates of beer, like I always do.
Could you manage one bag between the two of you then?
If not, Lufthansa (either to Leipzig or Berlin) would almost certainly work out cheaper than checking two bags - especially as their cabin allowance is more generous than the budget airlines.
Looks like the difference between Ryanair / Easy Jet and Lufthansa at the moment
ain't that much anyway, about £80 return vs £115 so it's a no brainer really, especially considering it's from Heathrow which is the best option for me.
Plus...
...flying with Lufthansa has the added advantage of not wanting kill someone/yourself/the world.
Quite!
oh yeah, that one at Tempelhof is Berlin Festival, ain't it?
That looks good too. Damn you Germany for having good festivals.
That's usually the same weekend as Bestival...
...and has many of the same acts as a result, but at half the price.
It's amazing go for it if you can
Line-up is always ace and varied, location is weird/wonderful/lovely - has a relaxed, chilled vibe you don't get in the UK, party on a beach as Nicolas Jaar played as the sunset... perfect. Everyone's up for a lot of the fun, but without the laddy/dickish element. Based on my 2011 experience anywhat.

what're alcohol / food prices like?
Nice to know there's no laddish element.
Compared to British festivals
very decent - esp alcohol. You get these token/coins things that once you figure out, saves you a bit of money.
Also you can take this sort of 'carton' thing into the 'arena' area (well the bit with all the music) and fill it with liquor. There's a lidl that's about a 2mile walk in the tiny village, which is great for buying cheap food/booze. Ahhh I wish I was going now...
i'd love to go here
I've been a couple of times for DiS
2011 was probably the best weekend of my life!

Been twice
last two years. It's good....CRAMMED full of Dutch fellas.
The setting is cool with all the old machinery n shit. Will be going again this year, although living in the UK will make it a bit trickier. Before we just rented a car from Berlin and drove...it's only about an hour an a half.
I was going to go in 2011, but then my Dad got septic arthritis
and subsequently died (renal failure). Ghastly period.
Along the way, I sold my ticket. It looked awesome. I would love go to a festival in Germany. One day, one life.
