Jay-Z
I'm listening
I voted for The Rat. Although I thought Standing in the Way of Control and House of Jealous Lovers would be top 10, and they've just been on in the mid-70s.
also, I don't think I've ever heard that Shins song
it wasn't very good.
Enjoying this
It was hard to choose, but I voted for Postal Service
and then they reformed!
Bloodbuzz Ohio got my vote
Quite enjoying this, a very lovely Friday soundtrack.
are they just playing Common People on a loop?
no
because Pulp haven't released anything in the 10 years 6Music have existed (apart from this week).
as if
6music isn't just Radio 2 for people who can remember when Trainspotting came out
I went for Remember Me
Good Friday listening though this.
good choice
I hope that does well!
voted for wake up by arcade fire
although i was very close to voting for all my friends
wouldn't be surprised if wake up does win it tbh
Another vote for The Rat, here
me too
Weak Become Heroes <3
That's it, decided. I'm not moving all afternoon.
Which Shins song was it?
Phantom Limb
Ah, thanks
I love so many but not crazy about that one myself
I voted at home and then at work
so one vote for There There and one for That Man Will Not Hang.
I wanted to listen to this
but for some reason bbc iplayer and radio player won't work on the office's internet. I think its because the server is based outside the UK (Niue to be exact). Its so annoying.
pretty sure 6music works outside of the UK
try it via the listen live link on their website, rather than via iPlayer http://www.bbc.co.uk/6music
Thanks
I tried it and it loads up but no sound. I haven't got the player on mute (or the laptop). Its weird.
Does this work?
http://tunein.com/radio/BBC-Radio-6-Music-s44491/
No. :(
I press play and nothing happens like with iplayer. Thanks anyway though.
Been such an enjoyable morning in work
So many absolute BANGERS!!
Lots of tracks appearing earlier than expected.
Anyone have a link to the list of 100 you could pick from? For some reason they've taken it down.

mega fun
enjoyed heaing Mclusky in at 66, been a nice mix actually.
I'm Outraged that Crazy is so low
I can think of few more iconic songs, although I did vote for Hey Ya!
I didn't expect either to be top 10 material tbh
because of split votes between them and Milkshake
Went for Do You Realize?
Got to be in with a chance surely? At least top 10??
I reckon
All My Friends, Do You Realize, The Rat, Bloodbuzz Ohio and Wake Up will all be firm top 10 candidates.
Maybe not then
I think I voted in this but I can't remember what I picked
Possibly 'Young Folks' because it was the only bona fide hit on the list.
Errr... Hey Ya!, Milkshake, Crazy, Rehab....???
Sorry, bona fide indie hit
they are very triumphant, those ratings that came out yesterday are going to their heads
went for the Rat. That Maccabees song was pants
Elbow or Arctic Monkeys for no.1?
Just seen it pointed out that Coldplay advertised it on their twitter etc.
can definitely see them taking it now.
Top 5
5. Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Maps
4. Arcade Fire - Wake Up
3. Elbow - One Day Like This
2. Radiohead - There There
1. Coldplay - Clocks
Time For Heroes might push Maps out actually.
Both gone now.
Haha.
Coldplay #1 would cause outrage. Kind of hoping for that now.
om my knees, im begging please?
These are pretty unforgiveable as lyrics go. if that toss is number 1 im going to fist a horse in anger.....its a truly awful track.
My point above demonstrated perfectly :D
The Rat
it is so fucking perfect.
Wake Up not even in the top 10!
Competitive.
Really hate that they only play half of it
They've done it on quite a few of them.
It was particularly bad on My Girls by Animal Collective
Must have missed that
I know normally that happens on radio, it just strikes me as particularly bad in a list thing to not play it all.
Radiohead at 10?????
I'd bet good money now on Clocks at 1, followed by Arctic Monkeys, Elbow, The 'Lips and then The Killers.
Okay, BSP have come higher than Radiohead.
Wow.
BSP were advertising to vote for them
Probably explains it. Certainly why they got my vote.
Fair enough.
Certainly don't begrudge them it.
Glad the Flaming Lips made the top 10
they got my vote
6-10 obviously where the best stuff really is :)
Surprised that Bloodbuzz Ohio actually got that high
Really glad though.
Top 2 of Arctic Monkeys and Coldplay then?
And given they said they were hoping to get the winning artist in the studio you'd expect that to be Alex Turner?
Wrong again then :D
What a let down that number one is
Probably most mainstream record of the whole 100
Kelis' 'Milkshake' was rather mainstream
It was at number 99.
I disagree
Milkshake was a hit, but it's also a brilliant, individual and exciting record. Clocks is what beige sounds like.
Clocks is one of the most boring records ever produced
Cheers, 6 Music, you little rebels.
Clocks is great so I'm ok with it being #1
Bet You Look Good on the Dancefloor at #2 is absurd though, never understood how such a terminally boring song could cause so much hype.
Clocks is great
never understood how such a terminally boring song could cause so much hype
hmmmm
Hmm hmm hmm
Obviously there's no accounting for taste...
But it is hard to to understand someone thinking Clocks is great but Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor is terminally boring.
Well yeah, it's a matter of taste obviously
Clocks may be an obvious stadium singalong hit produced within an inch of its life, but it does what it sets out to do really, really well. It has its shortcomings (Martin and his lyrics will always be a thorn on Coldplay's side) but the final result is still a pretty damn good tune that gets the whole larger-than-life anthem thing right.
Bet You Look Good on the other hand sounds like a run-of-the-mill pub rock tune without a single memorable hook or moment, to be filed alongside The Kooks, The Pigeon Detectives et al. While I'm not a fan, I think Arctic Monkeys have grown to become something far more interesting later on and I can see why people would love them enough to vote them so high on a list like this - I just really don't get why this song in particular gets all the accolades. It does nothing and goes nowhere and sounds like it's bored with itself before it even finishes.
fair enough, I just completely disagree!
I don't *love* that arctic monkeys track but think it's pretty decent. Whereas the coldplay song to me is the definition of boring
I voted for Roscoe
lol
