Academy 1 is the actual academy, Academy 2 is the MDH and Academy 3 is the Hop and Grape.
Having been to Manchester Uni before the wanky rebrand I find it comforting to use the original names.
Love this band, always managed to have missed them somehow. Caught about 10 minutes in Reading Festival many years ago when I had barely heard of them and that's it. Their latest record is their best for a while.
Saw them twice at the Boat Club in Nottingham and they were some of the best gigs I've ever been to (around the time of 'Madonna'/'Source Tags & Codes'), plus a few times at festivals. Not as into their most recent stuff but would love to see them live again.
wax lyrical about how awesome Lost Songs is? It's only got better on repeat listenings , I think Heart of Wires may be one of my favourite ToD songs ever.
I'd also like to register contempt for anyone who got Cambridge tickets and the band for playing Islington Academy again, whic is a horrid venue. Ta.
but I think it is growing on me. Time and Again is lovely.
I liked the previous 2 records more, it felt like their music had moved on, but this is kind of a step backwards. You're right about it improving with more listens though.
Bet it sounds great live too. Might go to the Southampton show.
What's wrong with it specifically? I've never been, but couldn't resist getting tickets for this. Worried that the venue might be so shit that it spoils it now.
It is the Academy, presume the main room rather than upstairs, will they fill it? I have a feeling they played the Thekla last time, wish I had caught that.
given the size of some of the others on the tour. But they have Turbowolf supporting who could bring a decent sized home crowd.... going to get my ticket today
Thekla (two or maybe three times) and Anson Rooms as part of Dot to Dot a couple of years back.
They played the Academy as part of Source Tags and Codes tour. Was amazing, one of my all time favourites. Not many in, and reckon they were more popular then so hopefully nice and quiet. Acadmey is awesome undersold and dire oversold. Will rule.
Nice to see that Ludacris is still on bass too.
oh, wow, this post
Sigh.
Autrey. Sings with Jason in Midnight Masses. Awesome in his own right.

Jason also fronts a new band called Spiritual Wives, they've done shows but not heard anything yet.
soz..

whoop whoop Rescue Rooms date!
It kind of annoys me that
these are pretty much one of the best live bands in the world, and still come over and play tiny couple-of-hundred-capacity venues. Urgh.
On the plus side: YESSSSSSS!
I was thinking the same
but SWG3 in Glasgow is more like 1000 to 1500, which seems more like what they deserve
Up the stairs at swg3.....? Are you sure?
Id have said it's smaller than the QMU, and I thought that was 700 or so capacity. Sure the barrowlands is about 1500.
Either way, Glasgow show is good news.
I thought Barras was 2000
I've only been to SWG3 once (for WU LYF) but I'm pretty sure that's what their site says
Portland arms is about 100
Can't wait!
You rat BASTARD
(let me know if you hear of any spare tickets? Thx bbz xx)
surely good (if you can get tickets)
that they still play small venues?
Gutted the Cambridge show is sold out already
Trail of Dead at The Portland Arms?! Fuck me, that'll be incredible.
Cambridge show was announced quite a while ago
I was surprised it didn't sell out quicker. Given the frenzy around the Knife tickets, ToD at Portland Arms should've sold out in seconds.
Anyway, yeah, it's gonna be brilliant!
I missed it :/
Manchester show in the hop and grape?
that's a tiny venue for them. They'll be peeling people off the back wall for a week.
Saw them there a couple of years ago...
When their line up was fucking huge, two drummers and keyboardist if I remember rightly. Was a mint gig.
yeah same
was it with Middle Class Rut?
link says Academy 3
:/
Which is the Hop and grape isn't it?
Academy 1 is the actual academy, Academy 2 is the MDH and Academy 3 is the Hop and Grape.

oh dunno..
is it the room up at the top..
yep
I will perform actual sex acts for a ticket to the Cambridge show
Seriously.
Turbowolf supporting...
On all the April dates.
oh they are SHIT
fuck OFF
Yep, seen them at Notts' Dot to Dot last year
Funny for the first song or two, then a descent into riff mongering turd badgering.
Stay safe.
By which I mean Turbowolf, not AYWKUBTTOD
Silly DIS
Should have seen
Turbogeist when the supported at the Garage, worst band I have ever seen. Ta.
I am well up for the Bristol date
Love this band, always managed to have missed them somehow. Caught about 10 minutes in Reading Festival many years ago when I had barely heard of them and that's it. Their latest record is their best for a while.
Cockpit! Boom!
Saw them twice at the Boat Club in Nottingham and they were some of the best gigs I've ever been to (around the time of 'Madonna'/'Source Tags & Codes'), plus a few times at festivals. Not as into their most recent stuff but would love to see them live again.
Can we

nowt new though is it?
just like, kinda going back to doing what they did before sorta
I wasn't sure about it at first
but I think it is growing on me. Time and Again is lovely.

is Islington Academy that bad?
What's wrong with it specifically? I've never been, but couldn't resist getting tickets for this. Worried that the venue might be so shit that it spoils it now.
About time they came back to Cardiff. Been far too long.
I'm tempted, but the Uni?
At least it's in the lesser of the two evils.
I know what you're saying, but having missed them on every tour
for about ten years I would go and see them if they were doing cabaret in Minsky's..
On the plus side I'll probably be driving so can park easily
and won't be offended by that the only beer available is a warm Fosters in a plastic bottle. It is in Solus, isn't it?
yep solus. I will also be driving, if I make it. Wife due to drop
a week before hand so I may be otherwise engaged.. Noooooo
wahey
just bagged some notts ones. Not seen them before, which in itself is a crime. excited about this cos the latest album was pretty pretty good
I'M A GO TO THE MANCHESTER ONE.
They better play stuff they did pre 2005 or I'm gonna be fucking bored.
I have seen them pretty much every tour since about 2000
Basically the same set every time.
well they would need to get the original line up back for that
and THAT ain't happening anytime soon
Not sure the set list is
the same thing as the line up.
sure
they'll never play Mark David Chapman again; ergo, what's the point
Just bought a ticket for Bristol
It is the Academy, presume the main room rather than upstairs, will they fill it? I have a feeling they played the Thekla last time, wish I had caught that.
