should I go see Jeff Mangum?
That acoustic revival thing he's doing is finally making it to my corner of the world. I'm a bit worried about squealing youngsters and annoying group sing-alongs etc. It's a fairly expensive ticket as well...just gauging the opinions of those who have seen him recently and whether its worth the inevitable crushing disappointment.

I had all these concerns re the shows at Union Chapel in London
but it was fucking awesome. Loved it far more than I worried I wouldn't.
I've you have misgivings about some guy play some 15 year-old songs for £££££s to a crowd of fawning doe-eyed hipster fuckwits
then maybe best avoid, I dunno
I guess they're pretty good songs though
cynical cunt
it was absolutely awe inspiring, pure spine tingling bliss from start to end. Dudes were crying dude, crying
and it wasnt even lame, it was like yeah dude weep on
jesus
christ, i refuse to believe noone laughed
Yes.
Yeah, it was fucking great at the Union Chapel
though I really wish I wasn't so drunk. Screw drinking before gigs it just ruins the magical memories.
no
Yeah. Go and see him. The Union Chapel gigs were the best of
last year. Truly stunning. There were few youngsters there (yes I'm old) and virtually everyone was well behaved. Get a ticket.
YES YOU MAD FUCK. GO. GO NOW.
I saw him twice at ATP
and while it was great to see those songs performed it wasn't quite as good as I was expecting. I almost sold my tickets for the Union Chapel show thinking I'd seen him twice and it would be much the same. But I went, and that is right up there with the best sets I have ever seen. Everything was right about it.
What's the venue like?
Saying this, I think you'd regret it if you didn't go, even if he's playing the Coca Cola Megaplex or whatever.
the venue is aces..
i'm sold.
even if it's a bit of a let down, i'd be bitter about missing it.
I saw him twice at the union chapel, didnt think it could live up to my expectations but it did (well second one, first one he seemed to hold back a little but still a 10/10 show), think the crowd were too in awe to sing along despite his requests for it, the crowd seemed pretty typical.
His website also says something about this not being his final tour but he wont be returning for solo shows in cities he has played for in the foreseeable future, so could be your only chance, or on a more optimistic side maybe its a hint of a full band return
just go you buffoon
he's awesome
I saw him at the Union Chapel and Casa de Musica in Porto
And both were absolutely wonderful.
Even my gf who think's NMH are not very good was like *Wow* at the end of the Porto show
