i live the Drive soundtrack
not sure i'd call it 'great' but i definitely like it
*like
fuck, i can't type today
IF you like that OST you should check out the OST for Hotline Miami
https://soundcloud.com/devolverdigital/sets/hotline-miami-official
thanks

College & Youth- A Real Hero
Judgement Night
FIRST
OH FUCK
*standard Judgement Night OST nomination*
unlucky
I needed a piss
Clint Mansell's score for The Fountain is incredible
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ihF_aXi-Huk
As are all of his other scores, I guess
I love Mychael Danna's score for Tideland:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fOED_RP4nT4
Popol Vuh's music in Nosferatu (in fact, pretty much all those classic Herzog scores, especially Aguirre and Cobra Verde):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UiEwnhVwzy0
This is kind of cheating as it's existing songs rather than score but the addition of the character voiceover on this World's End Girlfriend track from the film Air Doll is wonderful, especially when you read the translation:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wX8f6TJaryo
Jon Brion's Synecdoche, New York score is lovely:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SXRI6Cx-S98
And this is another that might be cheating but the Max Richter/Dinah Washington track from Shutter Island slays me every time:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PmBMls_Sxas
Toru Takemitsu created some creepy, ahead of its time music for Woman In The Dunes:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w2rOFDmfpNg
Also, the big hitters like Argento's psych wigouts with Goblin in Suspiria and John Carpenter's awesome synth scores, or Morricone's score on The Thing.
BLADERUNNER
The John Carpenter scores are great..
I really liked the Hired Hand OST (even though its difficult to find a physical version) and Yo La Tengo 'They shoot, We score' album is great. What about soundtracks made for films that don't exist or weren't included in the original movie such as DROKK!
I think Boris wrote Mabuta No Ura as a score for an imaginary film
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=91da9XpRupI
Some of it ended up in Jarmusch's Limits Of Control, along with a bunch of Boris stuff. I'd not heard of The Hired Hand, really liking what I've heard so far. May have to check out that film based solely on that
boris did a lot for confessions
hired hand soundtrack is beautiful
i just checked and the version i have on cd is on amazon for under 4 quid and that's a bargain.
Angelo Badalamenti's soundtrack for Twin Peaks
great mix of instrumentals and Julee Cruise songs
Started watching this again for the first time in years last night
the music still holds up today, it's perfect
I thought Mark Isham's soundtrack for Crash (not the J G Ballard adaptation) was pretty good
Really nice pad-y/choral/ambient stuff. Then some idiot decided that Stereophonics' 'Maybe Tomorrow' should go on the end of it, ruins the whole fucking thing.
Here is the album: http://store.isham.com/album/crash-original-motion-picture-soundtrack
U-Turn is a combo of bespoke film music
and C&W hits, along with one of my favourite ever songs:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=raKxn94wHyY
The Akira soundtrack is pretty damn good
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=utA3TQF3pZk
This one by Stefano Liberati is a classic
http://www.discogs.com/Stefano-Liberati-Pericolo-Negli-Abissi-Colonna-Sonora-Originale-Del-Film/master/386011
Never seen the film but bought it because I thought any track called "shark jaz band" must be good. I was right.

My favourites:
Philip Glass - "The Hours" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iB0sXWwH_eA
Yann Tiersen - "Good Bye Lenin" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FKn9qW0IABw
Cliff Martinez - "Solaris" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_2S698Cs3aM
Argh, wrong 'reply' button
I mean to reply to the thread, not the comment
Escape From New York
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f1JYDmo19to
Koyaanisqatsi's soundtrack by Philip Glass is incredible
The Grid is probably my favourite piece of classical music of all time
Thin Red Line by Hans Zimmer
His others for Gladiator and Inception, TDK are also good.
My favourite soundtrack is
for an Australian film called 'Praise'. Some original material by Dirty Three, a bit of flamenco, some old scratchy folk and country. It's great!
Just listened to the Eraserhead OST
Fuck me...
It's pretty much:
1. Everything John Williams ever did
2. Someone else (probably Danny Elfman or Hans Zimmer)
Howard Shore's work for Lord of the Rings (and now The Hobbit)
is my favourite... by a million fucking miles
Midnight Cowboy
Psycho
Bladerunner
Moon
by Clint Mansell
The soundtrack to the film Kids is pretty amazing
anything by Gustavo Santaolalla
but in particular
21 grams - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cbcHB3b6GZ0
babel - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WfusxHokCDg
Drokk by Geoff Barrow and Ben Salisbury
A soundtrack to Mega-City One and the world of Judge Dredd.
Not the actual soundtrack to the Dredd movie released last year, but it's awesome!
Eraserhead
Showing my age
or at the least the age I was a teenager, but we're missing
Natural Born Killers - Trent Reznor produced fella
The early Tarantino soundtracks
(suffering from the mixing in dialogue thingy that no doubt annoys people)
Oh yeah and Trent Reznor did Lost Highway too
and grunge-tastic Singles sountrack...
Riz Ortalani's soundtrack for Cannibal Holocaust is phenomenal.
Another vote for the Singles soundtrack
I love O Brother Where Art Tho too.
West Side Story for musicals.
Lost in Translation
And the Beach are both good, even if they are compilations of existing songs mainly.
Agree on Solaris and Clint Mansell's work, all good.
Run Lola Run
Purely for it's driving techno soundtrack that compliments the film's fast pace perfectly.
I will nominate this soundtrack
purely for its soundtrack
