Janelle Monáe - The Electric Lady
For me, the Archandroid was one of the biggest eye openers of 2010 and despite getting rave reviews, it never took off, sadly. Since Janelle sang one line on the third biggest selling single in the UK last year, We Are Young, do you think we can expect Janelle to have more success this year with her second album?
I hope it's not too political, what with all her Obama waffling recently. Is anyone else looking forward to it?

Her cameo on that Fun. song was utterly pointless I thought
Anyway, the ArchAndroid was amazing though, hope she makes another appearances at Bestival this year. Looking forward to this album a lot (if it does indeed come out this year).
im excited
---> I hope it's not too political <---
have you listened to her music before, mate?
I don't get it
Are you saying there's no way she could ever be political?
all of her music is overtly political
Didn't know this was coming up, I'm really excited
I've said it here before, but there was a sequence of tracks on The Archandroid from Faster to Cold War that if one of them had got traction as a single, I reckon all of them could have charted really well.
Anyway, regardless of whether this one sees her take off or not I'm looking forward to hopefully another great album.
albums are good
because it means more live shows!
I'm well looking forward to it.
Did I hear she was releasing two albums this year?
Archandroid is incredible - so massively ambitious
Mega-excited for a newie and gigs, stupidly didn't see her last time round.
Yes very stupid
the final 5 minutes of 'Coming Alive' at Glastonbury is probably the greatest (and loudest) thing I have ever seen as far as live music is concerned... it wasn't loud because of the music but the crowd was apocalyptic at one point

Utterly astonishing
Walked into that knowing and loving the record but not expecting anything like what happened at the end of that gig.
One of the best live things I've ever seen. Quite spectacular. And I was one of those going completely frickin' mental!
I'd forgotten about that!
Proper jaw on the floor stuff.
It was incredible
I came straight to Janelle Monae from Pulp's secret gig at the Park, which I'd just declared to be the greatest thing in the history of the world. Janelle Monae was just as good.
Then Big Boi played and was amazing.
That whole evening was mind-blowing, best run of bands I've ever seen.
So jealous
2 albums
I think she said at some point that she was going to release an instrumental version of the Archandroid, which never came to fruition. But then she said she was going to release a video for every track on the album too (or something like that) and didn't release another after Cold War.
Funny: i don't know if anyone heard at the time, Marcus Collins, the X factor reject who did the horrid cover of Seven Nation Army as his first proper single covered Tightrope on his album.

Why!!?
Oh wow. I didn't mind him on the show.
But that, well that's just not very good is it?
Shocking production.
