Fade
that's how you arrest hearts and minds, other bands, you non-Yo La Tengo being bunch of pricks.
the kind of record that gathers the straggling shoelaces of your life and ties them in nice tight bows so you can walk about with impunity.

it's a snooze-fest.
why would you lie?
it's lovely
no other opinions on this?
YLT fans, where are you?
(let's be having you).
did you know I was at that game?
anyway, this album is lovely.
excellent
who's better live, Delia or Yo La Tengo?
(I hear YLT aren't all that, live).
I haven't seen YLT live yet
I'll report back in March
but Delia anyway
every time
I love Yo La Tengo, easily one of my top five favourite bands ever
I'm still getting used into this one but it does sound lovely.
most YLT records are growers
this one got under my skin straight away, so it's sure to become a favourite when well worn.
'Ohm' might be the most instant YLT song yet
the group vocals and lyrics go right for the heart. I don't think they've ever sounded so irony-free.
i think stupid things
is one of my favourite YLT songs now
Whilst, after just two listens, I can't bring any songs to mind
I thought it was really good, and could tell that it had plenty of depth to delve into, so I'm looking forward to doing so.
it's growing every time
Yep
definitely this
I hate Yo La Tengo...
but this is a very good record.
Can see how people would find it boring, but i like boring. Reminded me a bit of someone like Vetiver, who for me do MOR about as good as anyone.
Definitely their most coherrent, accessible album, which i assume will alienate a lot of the try-hards.
8.5/10
surprised you hate them
have you given all their records more than, say, a Sonic Youth of a listen?
there's at least a scattering of tunes on every record that should appeal to a fan of this one.
Interesting comparison with Vetiver.
I find them terminally boring but their albums are so, so good (Vetiver that is). I feel the same way with Fade. I even like the slower second half best.
I got some Real Estate vibes from this
so I understand what you're saying. Except the try-hards bit of course
can anyone enlighten me about the bonus 7"?
any good?
I really love this album
The last two have been good but too long and trying to be all things to all people. This just sounds like 90s YLT but with a bit of strings and brass. The perfect case of less is more. A bit like last year's Dinosaur Jr album.
I can see why people are saying it's their best since 'And Then Nothing...' but I'm a big fan of Summer Sun.
arrest hearts
Isn't that what happens when you go to Gregg's too much?
