New Year's Purchases
So obviously EVERYONE starts the new year with a big load of purchases to get themselves going don't they? stuff you'd missed, were inspired by the EOY lists to get?
Here are mine (all downloads, what have I become):
Thanks to the Death of the Neighbourhood thread yesterday (thanks guys) I downloaded pretty much the entire Stephen Jones bandcamp page (well all the Black Reindeer and Blessed OST anyway, I have the rest already). Got a personal thank you from Stephen too! Nice.
Blood of Heroes (missed it from end of last year. For JK Broadrick-related reasons)
Sharon van Etten (yes yes because of DiS)
Some old stuff by The Bug
The Raime album (6 quid on Boomkat nice)
That recent Burial thing.

I'm trying not to buy anything right now
but now that Spotify doesn't let you buy tracks any more (sigh), I tried 7digital and bought Sad Souls - Apeiron after someone sent me a track on Spotify from them. Soothing, lovely dream pop.
I gave Norman Records 50 squid a few days ago
and hopefully they're gonna send me a bunch of Old Apparatus records, the WIFE ep, Airhead - Wait/South Congress and Broadcast's Berberian Sound System
That Raime album is a steal at 6 quid, immense album
parcel arrived this morning and its a thing of beauty
post a pic on twitter https://twitter.com/i/#!/karl_patterson/media/slideshow?url=pic.twitter.com%2F3MvtSqrq
The WIFE. ep is possibly my favourite thing from last year, incredible stuff
any online record shops that sell good music doing an end of year clear out?
Boomkat has a sale on
Which I didn't investigate
Couldn't see anything I wanted in there when I looked earlier
They've got some decent stuff
Biokinetics by Porter Ricks and that Science of the Sea thing seemed to be the highlights when I looked. Plus all the usual Type stuff. They had Tryptych by Demdike Stare really cheap as well, was tempted by the CD as I only have the digital edition.
Jinx
Bought Porter Ricks and Jurgen Muller from them a month or so ago!
Just had a look
Porter Ricks for a fiver!
Would get that if I hadn't paid full whack for it.
Norman Records have 40% off
best online shop around by my reckoning
Raime record is awesome
I've picked up:
Powell - Body Music EP
Jam City - Classical Curves
Ex-Easter Island Head - Mallet Guitars Two & Mallet Guitars Two/Music for Moai Hava
Personal Space - electronic bedroom soul compilation
Time to Go - The Southern Psychedelic Moment - compilation of Flying Nun stuff compiled by Bruce Russell.
got my eyes out for the Touch30 compilation along with the L.I.E.S compilation as well, dependent on my finances...
Time to Go is awesome
also just had my first run through of Touch 30 last night, thats quite something.
Been meaning on getting the EEIH LP too, hopefully will get round to it soon!
Time To Go is wonderful as it compiles only the best of Flying Nun
One track per artist style. I love Flying Nun bands, but over a whole album it can get a bit monotonous in terms of style/tone.
Went a bit over the top on second hand vinyl:
Public Image Ltd. - First Issue
Talking Heads - 77
Talking Heads - Remain In Light
Talking Heads - Speaking In Tongues
Talking Heads - Stop Making Sense
Janet Jackson - Control
Janet Jackson - Rhythm Nation
Killing Joke - Killing Joke
Killing Joke - Night Time
The Time - Ice Cream Castle
Simple Minds - New Gold Dream
David Bowie - Hunky Dory
David Bowie - Scary Monsters (and Super Creeps)
David Bowie - Low
Also got a Dinosaur Jr. ticket, a Solange ticket, a pair of RHA MA450i earphones, and a pair of Klipsch Image One headphones (although I've realised that they're on-ear as opposed to over-ear, so I'll probably send them back and get a refund).
Oh, and I also pre-ordered the new Pissed Jeans LP / t-shirt bundle
I probably should do this as I'll realise how big my problem is
but looking over emails it looks this is my New Years haul,
Drift Yellow Swans LP
Jack Rose - Opium Musick LP
Pelt, Keenan Lawler, Clark - Keyhole LP
Emeralds/Tusco Terror - Vaporizer / Feral Cousins LP
Six Organs Of Admittance / Charalambides - Songs From The Entoptic Garden Volume Two LP

help.
Was given £30 of Rough Trade vouchers for Christmas.
Didn't have the things I wanted in RTE when I popped in the other day but my hands were too itchy to just be sensible and save them, so picked up Daphni- Jiaolong on vinyl despite being only vaguely familiar with it and then succombed and bought Grimes- Visions about a year after everyone else because it sounded nice in the shop. It is a nice record but I'm quite surprised they picked it as their record of the year.
Courtesy of Diverse vouchers
Fidlar - s/t
Blacklisters - s/t
Just waiting on the arrival of the Cold Pumas LP
Emusic
Completed the Fontanelle album
Neurosis - Honor found in decay
Also picked up the latest Deftones.
The Disintegration Loops Box Set
Never spent £180 on a record before, and probably never will again.
Also went wild on:
Jessica Pratt - S/T
Karen Dalton - In My Own Time
Shirley Collins - The Power of The True Love Knot
and the Burial 12".
Really, really want that Disintegration Loops box
Me too
Where did you get it for £180? Boomkat were charging £299 and they sold out!

Something by...
MGUN, DJ Spinn, Madteo, Laurel Halo, Marcellis, Actress, Moon B, Roche, AU, Dean Blunt. Mostly new singles bar albums Moon B, DJ Spinn, Madteo and Dean Blunt. Fuck me Moon B is awsome, some kinda lo-fi funk thing on PPU on a Dam-Funk kinda tip. Spinn is up there with Rahad as one of the albums of the year easily and Dean Blunt's solo album is easily the best Hype Williams spin off of the year for me. New Laurel Halo single is so good, way better than the album. Blink and you'll miss Actress 12" is pretty spesh, its on that Hazyville tip rather than that RIP/Splazsh tip and hell its good. New Workshop 12" is badass, one of them sounds lie ka deep eski house thing. New TTT 12" on the way can't wait to get that thru my letter box.
Waiting on the arrival of this little french mogwai'esque number
bought on the basis of the two playable songs
http://musicfearsatan.bandcamp.com/album/le-reveil-des-tropiques-le-reveil-des-tropiques-2xcd-2xlp
I got two HMV vouchers. The total being £50.
Haven't had a chance to have a look around on their site yet. Their vinyl is still crushingly expensive though, isn't it?

Japan - Oil on Canvas

Got a record player for Christmas, so:

Taming Power - 21 pieces double lp
Taming Power - 6 pieces 10"
