Recommend me some slowcore (bands like Low, Czars, Red House Painters)
I don't really know what slowcore means, but all these bands have a medium to snail pace and usually a long, luxurious discography. It seems several of these bands were around 10 years ago but have been forgotten by all but a few who adore them, hough more recent suggestions welcome. Here is a larger list of what I am familiar with:
Low
The Czars
RHP (plus other Kozelek work)
Devics
Sparklehorse
The Blue Nile
- Relevant artist taggings:
- None

codeine
Good starting point?
Frigid Stars
(but The White Birch is really good too).
Angels of Light
Tindersticks
Dirty Three
Bedhead
Songs: Ohia
(*braces self for boring post-rock vs slowcore vs alt country labelling debate).
Thanks
Its encouraging that there's debate around the genre of these, I'm interested more in anything that has the same feel and career progression as the artists I mentioned.

those chords, man
Bluetile Lounge - Half Cut
and
Shizuka - Heavenly Persona. Can't recommend this one enough http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xh6lR2e0wSQ
<3 bluetile lounge
this shizuka is nice too :)
Art Of Fighting

if you like early Low you might like these, similarly sparse arrangements.
Came here to say AOF
Probably the best band I ever DIScovered through this internet website. Second Storey is a stunning album!
I can't work out if I like that
It's a bit like Low but also a bit like Athlete.
The last two Talk Talk albums
Mark Eitzel

not all of his stuff is slowcore, but some is.
The For Carnation
Spain
In particular their album 'The Blue Moods Of Spain'.
As mentioned above, The For Carnation. Their s/t album is amazing. I dusted off one of their tracks for the December Space collection this week ('Moonbeams').
Low's In the Fishtank with Dirty Three.

Oh and don't forget
Josh T Pearson's Last Of the Country Gentlemen. My favourite album of 2011.

Not really sure what "Slowcore" is
But going on the bands already posted (and excluding those artists), I'd say check out:
Earth
Bardo Pond
Junior Boys
Barzin

you've heard that chord sequence before, but its lovely
Galaxie 500
I'm sure you know them, but definitely check them out if not. I think their first album 'Today' is their best, but the other two are fantastic as well.
Would also check out:
Seam
Luna
Come (guitarist Chris Brokaw was the drummer in Codeine)
Galaxie 500
Posted at the same time as the above and I would concur with the suggestion of 'Today' as a good starting point. Once you have listened a few times to that excellent album, however, you must quickly make your way to the sublime 'On Fire'. Not just the finest Galaxie 500 album but one of the finest slow albums of all time.
For more recent music I would also recommend Cheval Sombre. The new album is very lovely indeed.
^This to the Cheval Sombre album
sounds like Felt meets Galaxie 500 meets Mazzy Star, with some more drone-y bits thrown in
Came here to post Galaxie 500
On Fire is one of my top 5 albums of all time, never ever get tired of listening to it. The lyrics are deceptively funny too.
Bark Psychosis - Hex
Also, Early Day Miners - All Harm Ends Here, The Kingsbury Manx - s/t and Rameses III - Folk Hymns might interest you.
But I can't recommend 'Hex' enough. It's amazing.
Was not expecting such a good response, DiS rules!
Currently checking out (but have much more to plunder):
Codeine
Early Day Miners
Art of Fighting
Tindersticks (finally)
American analog set
Promise of love is bloody lovely

Cobolt (ex members of Refused)
Absolutely phenomenal stuff. Check out their album Passoa on Spotify (at work so can't post link).
