And no, I will never stop.
jun 2008
when i got a laptop i reckon
i really like it, so no prob wont stop using it
Started 2007
Stopped 2008.
stopped using it when they stopped you being able to skip
as many songs on the radio as you wanted
2005
Don't reckon I'll stop, although it probably accounts for only 5% or less of my actual listening during the last 7 years.
So many missed opportunities to scrobble from car cd players and non-internet walkman phones. Literally thousands of plays of Riot by Paramore, gone by the wayside. Alas.
They've just announced the end of free desktop radio.
nooooo
have they actually? I know they started charging for mobile but noooooo
Got this email this morning.
From Tuesday 15 January 2013, radio streaming within the desktop client will only be available to Last.fm subscribers. Free, ad-supported radio will still be available on the website. Our desktop client remains the best way to scrobble, and all desktop features other than radio are free.
We are also releasing a new, modernised desktop client, that is currently in Beta. This update brings a new design and greater stability to the existing application, and allows you to interact more with the music you listen to. It will update to the full release including a version in your language on or soon after Tuesday 15 January 2013.
If you wish to continue to take advantage of ad-free radio in the desktop client, we welcome you to subscribe. A subscription also affords you ad-free browsing and uninterrupted listening on the website, as well as radio in other applications and on other platforms.
Finally, we know that many users have had difficulty scrobbling from iOS devices with the old desktop client. We are pleased to announce that we will soon be releasing a new iOS scrobbling & playlisting application, the Scrobbler for iOS, that finally brings native scrobbling to iOS devices and offers new ways to listen to the music you carry in your pocket every day!
Thanks,
The Last.fm Team
Scrobbling has been a real problem for a few years for me now
So many tracks lost in the ether...I like last.fm for beginning the idea, but if there was a less problematic alternative I'd jump ship straight away.
nothing's been scrobbling for a week now
really frustrating
...
69896 plays since 12 Aug 2006. Which means my 70kth one is coming up. and no, i'll never stop.
I'd like it to be bought by Spotify.
this is pretty cool
http://www.last.fm/bestof/10years/timeline
my account dates to may 2003 but i didn't start using it until june 2007 :(
Sad
Most Skipped Track
The Postal Service — Such Great Heights
31st March 2006
will probably never stop using it
28th April 2005
47785 plays since 26 Mar 2006
First profile started in 2008
I stopped using that one. Current one has been going since May 2010 and I don't see myself stopping with it any time soon.
30th Sept 2007
Very close to 100,000 plays. Of course if it all scrobbled I would've been there by now. Do love lastfm.
First account was feb 2007
Of course I got too cool to keep the shite I scrobbled to that so my current one's only 2 years old.
100k plays in total :D
Wish it could link to YouTube somehow...
Because I listen to quite a lot of new music there, listen to DJ mixes and such for stuff that isn't on Spotify / that I haven't bought.
Not that I'd ever do this
but hypothetically if you want to scrobble something you could just name a short track appropriately and play it a few times.
or just use this

Haven't tried this but might be worth a go:
https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/chrome-scrobbler/lodaicahdnijcdhnoljcmmhdhcgjmann
it works but it's a little weird
it once scrobbled something i just looked up on wikipedia
:D
YouScrobbler works well for me
It scrobbles from YouTube into Last.fm most of the time.
This is a revelation, thank you so so so much.
I had an '02 account but it got banned because when the shoutbox thinsg started i kept trolling the slayer page.
:D
that's amazing
my favourite for shoutbox trolling was the Heavenly page
btwn fans of the (amazing) indie pop bands and fans of the (absolute guff) power metal band.
here's an 'amazing' mashup i made of both in about fifteen minutes: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=20tV9HYC_RI
114304 plays since 16 Jul 2006
and counting. I took almost a whole year out from 07-08 when I got paranoid it was tracking what I downloaded, then I realised that was stoopid so I turned it back on. I really wish I had that year of scrobbling, that was a good year.
Other than that, why would you ever unplug it? Or reset your stats for that matter. That's some hardcore life-laundry
It's a shame they seem to making the site steadily unusable for anything other than just logging your listening habits, but that's enough for me.
It's a good database of band details, if not actual tracks (those good old days). I must have written the bios for about a thousand bands.
Happy birthday last.fm
Started March 2005 99907 plays an average of 42 tracks a day
reset in April 2006 as it got completely screwed up. Scobbling from my phone hasn't worked for months but the new app does live scobbling which is briilaint and means I'll break 10000 sooner than expected...
22/11/2004
just under 140k plays.
It scrobbles roughly one in two songs i listen to these days though. I'll keep it going for as long as they'll let me for free because the charts are lovely.
Started an account in 2004
didn't really use it until 2009. It was left on my dad's PC so when I did it was full of Stereophonics and Foo Fighters scrobbles. I should have just signed up again (especially since I really hate my username now) or at least reset the stats but I'm a very lazy man.
Got a wee bit under 40k plays. It says that's 11 a day but there's 5 years of almost nothing in there.
128,484 plays since 2007
I find last.fm really useful to nick recommendations off my friends, see what gigs people are going to and, of course, to get geeky about how much I listen to things.
I used to experience alot of problems scrobbling when I used to use the official last.fm scrobbler but since moving to a mac and installing ScrobblePod it seems to scrobble almost everything I play now. This is a result as I probably play 99% of my music through my ipod.
Can't see myself ever not using it.
Never found any use for it
thanks for telling us!
March 2006-death for me
Don't know why, just never get bored of it. Fucking love stats
me too
I'm genuinely a little bit sad that i missed out on four years of scrobbling. i mean, the net result would likely just be that Death Cab for Cutie would have about nineteen thousand plays, BUT STILL
22nd October 2004
99621 plays. ALMOST 100,000..!!!!
People who reset:
IN DENIAL
want:
to be able to change username and/or export & import my data.
