Primavera...?
Fingers crossed.
Well this has cheered my morning.
I'm going!
:D
hopefully they're not going to do a carbon copy of the re-union sets.
eh, eh
They already said they'll be playing material off the new album...
Wouldn't hold Kevin to his word though.
He has 25 days left to release the new album
Until he's lying again
saw them at the apollo in mancehster last time
boring. and giving out free ear plugs was a joke, they weren't even loud
Pardon?
solid :)
First person to here that from about that show.
yep
I was there and it was very very loud. Probably the loudest gig I've been to (on a level with Bardo Pond anyway).
dunno what to say then
i had a conversation through a lot of it. not loud. i saw bardo pond at the academy years ago as well, didn't think they were loud. (although i did really really like them)
You had a conversation through a lot of it
This makes you out to be even more of a nob than your initial statement. I went to the gents during the You Made Me Realise apocalypse bit for some light relief and the grimaces and hands over ears of the majority of the audience were a sight to see. When I got to the door of the gents, which is in the corner of the Apollo, I had to steady myself because the vibrations were so immense. They weren't even loud, behave.
thanks for just calling me a nob while i was trying to have a conversation
:)
I'm not going to say well done! It was the 'a lot of it' bit which deserved the nob comment. People who talk incessantly at gigs=nobs. No offence intended, chatterbox.
yeah, there's no fun in music anymore. every must just stand in stony faced silence i suppose
"a lot" is fairly subjective. i am merely pointing out that i could quite easily talk with the person next to me while they were playing. i'm sure i've been at other gigs where it has felt loud. immediately i think of blanck mass at atp in new york a few months ago. that was really really uncomfortable
yeah the volume increased steadily throughout the gig until YMMR
And then yes it just got crazy. I was quite near the back and the stick of vom was horrendous, and the visuals made it really disorientating. Fantastic though.
Just bagged some tickets for next years' Manc gig. Bring it on!
*stink
Never seen them live before so pretty damn excited about this. I wonder if these gigs tie in with the announcement a few weeks ago that there'll be new material released before the end of the year.
wow
£9.15 booking fees???
Jamie, this better be onsale on stargeen and weggottickets tomorrow...
Think it's only Gigantic sellint these tickets according to the ATP website.
Oh
FFS. Is this the new coporate shill ATP? :-)
"new"?
9.15? is that true?
hahahahaha
not true
just tragically bad maths.
gah
disgusting.
Evil Barry Hogan
Its cheaper for seated tickets
for some reason.
I emailed them and asked them this and they replied thusly -
This is because unfortunately we have to send the standing tickets out by
secure delivery, as if they are lost in the post they cannot be replaced.
We have one of the lowest secure delivery rates out of all the ticket
agencies. We do try to keep our prices down.
-----------------------------------------------------------
i guess it makes sense, but it has stopped me buying tickets (saw them at the ICA and Roundhouse and all 3 nights at their ATP, also not a fan of Hammersmith Apollo, so not too bothered anyway)
Expect:
"...this is, er, a new song-"
<half the audience collapses in shock>
"...er, new album's out next month-"
<other half keel over>
<MBV play new song, to a hall full of corpses>
Security: "Oooh they've gone a bit dub-step...!"
there not playing in Dublin despite the fact theyre from here...
same last time out.
they
Did the electric picnic festival as exclusive
it saddens me
Tickets booked. Thanks for the heads up.
In 2008 I saw them at The ICA which was a stunning gig. I also saw them twice at The Roundhouse. Those two gigs were rather average.
For London
Where did you book them?
http://www.gigantic.com/my-bloody-valentine-tickets
I need to either quickly make a friend in the local vicinity who likes MBV
or just Come In (to the gig) Alone.
I just got two tickets for London
Despite knowing for a fact none of my mates like them.
Dinner?
Got a bit flustered
Bought four. Might go three times myself, though.
Where's the presale people?
Link above doesn't work for me
Aha it's on here...
http://www.creation-records.com/my-bloody-valentine-announce-uk-dates/
Ah, k
ignore me.
Nice one, ta for that
Ticked booked!
Got my ticket too!
Yessss.
The link in my first post was the presale
Standing & Seated were still available last time I checked at about 9:30 this morning - looks like you're too late.
I've cut and pasted this link from an email I got. See if it works.
http://www.gigantic.com/my-bloody-valentine-tickets
No it doesn't. Sorry.
Nae presale for Glasgow
Typical. Second time seeing them at the barras, cannot wait.
WHERE ARE THE IRELAND DATES
Ah well I needed an excuse to visit Scotland.
Booked!
Silly booking/postage fees, though for once, I'm not too bothered :D
anyone reckon they'll announce a few more dates in other parts of the country?
or not and that i should stop being a square and get tickets right now.
I reckon
if they sell out they'll announce other dates in the same venues - they've left days between so they can have another glasgow date before the existing one, another manchester gig after the existing one etc.
Who knows?
Why no Birmingham (or midlands in general, for that matter)?
because
They are lazy gits
pre-ordered
amazed and pleased. time for lunch.
So pleased they're playing at the Barrowlands
Ended up missing them on their re-union tour a few years ago, so I will definitely be there this time!
I saw them on the first of the 2 Barras gigs last time
and it was the best gig I've ever seen.
got 3 manc tickets
booking/transaction fees were only £2.90 all together. hmm..
Standing in London
Already sold out.
Standing was gone at 9.01am by the looks of it.
Still, seating will do. Gigantic is well fucking slow. No wonder they hold your tickets for so long.
try
event.im
Made a cup of tea
Phoned ticket Scotland in Glasgow - booked within 3 minutes
Phone Glasgow
Are these guys genuine?
Just about to but tickets from there
Glasgow tickets bought - BOOM!
£25 plus £2.50 booking fees, that's not too bad actually. Was expecting to pay a lot more than that.
God bless credit cards!
got tickets for Manc
I can think LATER about whether I'm actually able to make it.
Second London date announced.
I think that they'll play three dates in total there.
There's another London date on sale now.
BOUGHT!
Who can i stay with...?
Tickets for Glasgow secured.
Two on the credit card for Glasgow
Happy fucking days
You lucky lucky people
Saw them 3 times on the Loveless tour & they were phenomenal. Hope the fact that they're coming to Japan/Australia means they'll come to Bangkok as well.
1st London night, standing, sorted
Flying solo for this one but not too bothered by that. Come stage time you won't be able to hear yourself talk/scream anyway. Earplugs and soft drinks is the plan. The Roundhouse was no earplugs for me and too much booze.....hungover and deaf wasn't pleasant the next day.
Earplugs & soft drinks?
Young people these days, tsk...
I'm a 40 yrs young person.....
Soft drinks is the way forward man......hangovers and vague recollections of the gig are not for me anymore. Now, where's my tartan blanket, my legs are getting chilly.
high grade marijuana and ovaltine for me
Sorted for the second London date
Seated tickets (which is what we wanted due to age/leg-knack issues), Row A in the centre.
1st london night seated
I was tempted to hold out for standing tickets but the seated ticket I bought is right at the front of box 4, so I'm happy.
Got my ticket for this in the post today. Stoked.
Can anyone advise on the whole earplugs issues? I know they're meant to be ferociously loud and all... I have some earplugs I got from Boots (cheapo foam jobbies) that I got for sleeping at a festival - will these do? Do they hand them out on the door? Are they necessary?
they hand shitty foam ones at the doors
just buy some ER20s off amazon
You might as well walk in with two pilllows strapped to either side of your head
ER20s (and their like)attenuate - giving the effect of turning the volume of the sound down, without muffling the fuck out of it as shitty foam earplugs invariably do.
another
date added.
Birmingham academy, March 8th. Onsale fri
Birmingham
date makes me rather happy due to minimal travelling and hassle to get to and back, plus I already have my ER20 earplugs (which have been a worthwhile investment, definitely make a difference)
My Bloody Valentine are bloody atrocious
I'd rather listen to my mum's vaccuum cleaner.
Worst Nicky Wire quote, ever.
Just a quick question
But do you guys think the dates will sell out pretty quick?
I've got a mate sorting out the tickets but should he be ready at 9 am on Friday to get us sorted for the Birmingham gig?
Wed 13 March tickets
I've got 2 stalls standing tickets (which is sold out both nights) for sale for London. Will sell at face value or sensible offers, can meet in london in the week to hand over tickets - work central. Ended up catching them in brixton before and had completely forgotten i'd also got these tickets!
Anyon else order a ticket for the Manc date and not got it in the post yet?
Tuesday 12th March - 1 x ticket
jumping on the 'selling' thread. I need to offload my ticket for the Tues night due to personal reasons. Again, happy to sell at face value. I work near Southbank, can meet up to handover if anyone fancies buying it. Drop a PM or reply here. Cheers.
Is anyone else a bit disappointed they're basically ignoring m b v live?
New You seems to be the only thing they'r playing off it - I realise the songs don't all lend themselves to being performed at deafening volume by two guitarists a bassist and a drummer, but you think Kev could at least give it a crack
and there goes any real incentive I had to see them again post-2008
Probably has more to do with the fact none of the band played on mbv
bar Shields and up to the end of last year hadn't heard the album either.
is that really a good excuse?
I mean, I know he's a perfectionist and all but he's notionally touring the album, it's a bit half arsed not to give it a crack, it's not like they've had NO time rehearse. I mean, all he really has to do for the last three tracks is play feedback over some drum loops.
It's a bit disappointing
I'm hoping the gap between the last tour ending and this one starting will be taken up with them learning some new stuff.
They played Wonder 2 for the first time live last night.
...though it seemed a bit awkward after the YMMR apocalypse...
This is true
It was a bit like shagging Bilinda for 10 marvellous minutes then Debbie Googe comes in and gets her tits out. But of a damp squib. Nothing Is would have worked better.
rude
*massively sexist
Thanks!
;)
:''''''''''''D
Amazing.
I really wish this'd been posted on International Woman's Day.
Pro-feminist shoegazers ASSEMBLE !!!
I've got a spare ticket for Birmingham tomorrow night.
Long time reader, first time poster on here. Get in touch if you're interested (I think there's a personal message function on here, right?)
On my second and love it.
Some wee gypsy bastard pinched my first in Barcelona 2 years back pre Primavera. I imagine with my ipod and my cash, Pedro and his mates had a party at my expense.
sexism AND racism
good thread everyone
I suspect this has been posted on the wrong thread and was intended for the ipod thread.
...still racist though...
Good post content/ username interface on that last one too.
It felt like a comedown
when they played wonder 2 after you made me realise. It also totally threw my body out of sync after the experience of the holocaust section, which was like nothing i've experienced before, I could feel my hair tingling, went through my body and made my teeth chatter.
My friends got a +1 guestlist for Tuesday
Will be my 5th time seeing them. Excited.
Anyone wanna tell me what merch they had?
Wanna know whether to bother bringing any cash for a shirt
They had 3 different shirts
One had mbv in the middle of the chest, 2" high in purple or pale blue. One was brown with my bloody valentine in 1" lettering across the chest and the third had this bendy over woman under the mbv logo in mid blue and another colour. £20 each. Hoodies for £35, tote bags for £10 and the album fo £18 on vinyl, £12 on cd. My mate was working the merchant, I spent quite some time there after the gig!
Bendy over woman...?
Are you thinking about Bilinda again.....?
She was bent over backwards
Take that how you will.
Excellent answer, thanks very much man
Guessing they only had the new album on LP? Did the recent Loveless re-issues ever actually come out here on wax?
'wax'?!
Fucking hell.
There were Fork Handles for sale.
I'm sure this is a pretty regular term..?
i'm sure he is a pretty regular troll.
Who clearly hasn't brought any music ever
And just spends all his time on the guardian/pirate bay/DIS social board.
Why would I pay for something I can get for free?!
Is that why you live under a bridge
Rather than paying for a house?
I DON'T EVER WANNNNNA
FEEEEEELLLLL. LIKE I DID THAT DAY!
Only mbv for sale
No other wax ;)
The only 'Loveless' reissue I know of on vinyl
was the run put out by Plain Recordings a few years back. It was an abysmal pressing though, sounded disastrous.
aye the merch was a lot better than the last tour
Don't suppose anyone wants to swap
a Tuesday Hammersmith ticket for a Wednesday standing ticket?
er sorry - mistaken this
awful
woooh, mbv, john grant, johnny marr, I gotta tough week ahead
tough week of shit gigs by the sounds of it.
I can finally say I've experienced them live
Last night was pretty great: 'Cigarette In Your Bed' was a particular highlight, and the 'holocaust' was a real experience (I wondered how someone with no hearing would experience that, and now I'm thinking that I might be able to find out -- since I didn't heed the earplug advice).
Thoughts on the support act? I heard a lot of people not too impressed, but I thought they were OK and had some really good moments, amidst some moments of admittedly over-long slow noodling.
didn't bother with the support band but thought MBV were quality
probably not quite as good as I remember them being in 2008, but quality nevertheless. If my memory serves me, the holocaust bit was quite a bit shorter last night than on the last tour - I seem to recall it going on for somewhere around 20 minutes last time around. Seems a bit churlish to complain though.
Earplugs really do make a big difference. I went without the last time I saw them and my ears were fucked for a good couple of days.
Yeah was a pretty spot on gig.
I'll be seeing them tomorrow, That'll be the fifth time.
1st was their "rehersal" at The ICA in 2008 - Simply amazing.
2ns and 3rd was two shows at The Roundhouse - Average to good.
4th Electric Brixton a few weeks ago - Simply boring.
I'm not sure what to expect tomorrow.
i know two people that went to brixton and to brum and manc
apparently the last two were a gig improvement. nothing will top the ICA though!
Do they give out earplugs
like before?
they did at barras
Apollo did.
as some people have been asking
as they thought it was sold out, thought I would post to say we do have some tickets left for night 2 via http://www.atpfestival.com/events/mybloodyvalentinehammersmith.php
