The Blue Nile
Never really got them - into them - before these reissues (Rooftops and Hats). But my, they were a special band, eh?
That is all.

fucking awesome band
very romantic, lots of empty spaces.
love his voice too.
Me neither
Dad always raved about em. Tried em again about 3 years ago and suddenly just 'got it'. Special indeed.
Probably the very definition of a `special` band.
Absolutely horrendously ignored by modern audiences.
Hats is the most beautiful album ever recorded. It really is astonishing how something can be so sparse and so rich at the same time.
bit cheesy for me.
My dad gentley nudged me in the direction of Hats a while ago.
Fell in love with them instantly.
aye, brilliant brilliant band
Gonna give Hats a listen right now cos of this thread.
Thanks.
"walk across the rooftops' is a better start
if thats what you're doing
Ah I dunno man...
...both are excellent places to start.
So long as no-one dives in at Peace at Last first they should be fine.
Working night and day
I try to get ahead...
but hey!
theres a red caaaaaaaaar in the fountaaaain
I know a place, where everything's alright...
Got Hats after a thread about them last year...
...and for some reason didn't get around to listening to it. Will remedy now.
in a HEATWAAAAAAAAVE
Those first two albums are two of the most perfect records ever
In the right mood (travelling home on a late night train on a dark miserable evening for instance) there is no substitute
I put Hats on at work the other day
Someone asked if it was Sting.
I can't believe I'm about to post this
but Keane did a not too shabby cover of The Downtown Lights: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aRkgVpVrv8M
thats actually really good
you can hear the influence of that track on bedshapped actually.
they're amazing
There's no such thing as Paul Buchanan's voice
Yes there is
I've heard it.
I didn't notice anything anywhere about these reissues
Hats has been my favourite album ever since the day I first heard it on a bus ride from Bristol. Both albums are more or less perfect.

lovely track. it'd be a centrepiece of an album for most bands, yet didn't even make the cut of an album for the blue nile
Can't believe I've never heard The Blue Nile.
I loved Paul Buchanan's solo album this year.
I've since listened to Hats.
Crikey, this is brilliant.
First time I head them
(Downtown Lights in 1989) I thought they were pure cheese. Then I listened to the song again. And again. And an hour later I realised I'd listened to the same song about 10 times in a row & was totally in love with it.
this happened to me with tinseltown in the rain (live on jools holland)
One of my favourite bands.
best song:
Heatwave.
Cheers
nope.
not even top 5.
COME AT ME!
you're wrong bro
Headlights on the Parade for me
JFC even the TITLE gives the goosebumps.
Hats
is a contender for most perfect album ever. Rooftops also essential.
I just got the 2 disc reissues in the mail yesterday
they sound great. And the 2nd disc has some tracks i've never heard. Definitely worth picking up. Two of my favorite albums ever. High is really good too.
