Julianna Barwick @ Cafe Oto
Very, VERY excited for this. I was pretty blown away by how quickly it sold out, I honestly had no idea she was so popular. I only found out about her once this show was announced a few months ago. She's amazing.
Anyone going?

yeah should be good
missed her gig in clerkenwell last year coz similarly didn't think she was that popular so just chanced it on the door. looking forward to seeing her finally.
Saw her in Clerkenwell last year
was ace, tonight should be grand.
No.
I didn't know about this. Balls. Tits. Arse. Etc
If they can meet me
in or near Willesden Green this evening, my ticket is going for a tenner. Message me if interested.
Missed out on this one and am too shattered to go tonight,
but she was wonderful when she supported Emeralds last year.
Enjoy!
Can't wait for this
can't really be arsed to stand around by myself but i'm sure the music will make up for it
Fantastic performance.
Wonderful venue too. The only thing that let it down is the way she ended every song by rather abruptly fading it out- would have been nice for her to maybe slowly remove some of the layers and gradually bring the song to a standstill.
the fade outs were unfortunate
she messed up a couple loops as well, notably on prizewinning which was a real shame, but it was still pretty lovely.
yeah it was a shame
but it also made it seem very fragile, and coupled with her unaffectedly shy yet very warm presence (I spoke to her afterwards too, and she was very friendly yet also very awkward!) it just felt very honest. The last few gigs I've been to have been irony-ridden hipster cesspits so it was refreshing to see something so pure and unaffected.
Loved it.
Was up there with the time I saw Joanna Newsom play in the tiny workingmen's club environs of the Brudenell Social Club in 2004 for witnessing someone enthrall a room with something so fragile.
ENVIOUS.
Does anyone know if she has anything new on the way?
New record just recorded in Iceland to be released in May
when I asked her after the show.
This was a lovely gig and she seemed like such a likeable person too. I love that she kept thanking the soundman and audience in a really sweet and honest way and was so into her songs. The occasional hiccup and fadeout made it all better as it emphasised the fact that it was real, live and how awesomely talented she was to get it sounding like the record.
I read an interview recently
seems that she is expanding her sound a lot with Amiina contributing strings, some assorted backing vocalists (including her Mum) and a guitarist. Very excited to hear what comes of it
sounds promising
feel like she's sort of taking her thing as far as it can go as it is, does need some new elements or something
that's good news
Missed any announcement for tickets.
Gutted.
If anyone has a spare please PM me.
It was yesterday
FUCK!
How was it?
