stopped being a good live band a while ago. The big screens, microphone cam, big balloons and people in costumes have become boring now. They've been doing that for the last ten years. I wish that they'd just shut up and play a straight forward gig. Their Soft Bulletin show at Ally Pally last year (I think) was so stretched out and hence so so boring. End of rant from a grumpy old man.
Why yes, Wayne, I would like to hear you sing the chorus, then yell at us for a minute, then grin smugly into the microphone cam, then sing another chorus, then tell us to c'mon motherfuckers, then grin, then....
By comparison, the Ally Pally show was like watching the Ramones or something. Though I still didn't enjoy it a huge amount.
But last time they only played 12 songs in an hour and a half and spent the rest rambling and COME ON MOTHERFUCKERSing, so I don't really want to ruin the good memories I have of them live with another underwhelming set.
but loved the Primavera set. Watched it on the disabled ramp with a friend who broke his ankle the previous night on the ramblas. Visually stunning, but yes Wayne does like to drag a song out...
Ally Pally was a tremendous let-down, the momentum of Soft Bulletin was kinda disrupC'MON MOTHERFUCKERS WHERE'S THE LURRRRVVVEEEted and they could have played a b-side or one of the 'other' tracks instead of wheeling out Do You Realize again
caught a bit of them at Parklife as I was coming down and it did perk me up but wrong crowd
I think they think they are better than they are. I've seen them loads of times at festivals, and find myself constantly shouting 'SING YOU FUCKER' at WC, as he just waffles on about shit for half of the sets. I don't like them very much, on record or live. I've tried, but not for me.
I've seen them probably ten or more times since the late 90s. They

Although, at the same time
That was the closest thing to a straightforward gig I've seen them do, and it certainly wasn't more enjoyable as a result.
Their festival sets are (mostly) still good.
Because they don't have the time to stretch them out with Wayne preaching.
Unfortunately not the case at Primavera

that primavera set was excruciating and disappointing
Barcelona last year, yeah?
It was that set that made me put in the (mostly). They were much better at Porto this year.
Saw them at Parklife in Manchester last summer
Shit festival I know, but christ, they were bad
i
thought the alexandra palace shows and the Troxy shows before then were both brill.
So there:-)
I just felt a little let down that we didn't get any of the b-sides or alternative tracks
because he was too busy calling us mofos.
Fuck! I'm skint!
Someone buy me a ticket!
for gigs like this i usually buy a joblot to put on ebay. i'll send you a pm with the link when they're up if you like?
: )
Tout Twat
in nice guy's clothing
Yeah, not cool man.
They've been good every time I've seen them

Tickets are £32 (face value). No thank you Wayne.
Maybe I was pished....

Not sold out yet.
