Girls Aloud - Something New

I don't like the chanty bit at the start, otherwise this is ACE

On first listen...
don't really like much bar the chorus.
Therefore I suspect it'll be my single of the year in 6 weeks time.
AND IT'S NOT A BALLAD THANK FUCK
*don't really like much bar the chorus*
Sounds like they've still got the winning formula then.
:D
Jesus, that chant is bad.
SO BAD
Verse is embarrassing as well.
Yeah I hate this.
:(
WOOOOOO.
but hmm....
I love the chorusy bit....so bloody catchy...but not the talky bits. Sing goddammit. And its all a bit WHO RUN THE WORLD - GIRLS!
He writes a lot of the chart songs these days.
Not sure why as his own songs were DOG SHIT.
Yea
Who Run The World rip-off crossed with an already dreadfully dated LMFAO rip-off :(
it sounds nothing like lmfao
sounds really cheryl-centred, though.
It's usually the sign of a good pop song
That I already know how the chorus goes after only one listen...
JUST GREAT POP
The chanty bit is shit as is the "rapping" or whatever you'd call that.
The chorus is good. But the melody reminds me of something very obvious but i can't think of it right now.
Meh.
It sounds like anything David Guetta has touched?
This is kind of lame
but apparently it's going to be a double A side or something, so this is hopefully the shitter one.
It actually sounds just like a Cheryl Cole single
Her voice comes through more than anyones whereas before it was Nadine who was the leader. I guess Chezza is more famous now so makes sense to put her forward as it will sell more if it sounds like her.
But she's got the weakest voice
+ I hate Cheryl Cole
not sure...yet
it doesn't really sound like something new.
I'm sure I'd dance to it if it were played loud enough, but it's not that good.
Might dramatically change my mind but I'm quite disappointed.
On first listen I reckon it might be the worst non-cover single they've released. Or the worst upbeat one at least. It's not terrible by any means (bar the chant) but it just feels a bit like a by-the-numbers-pop-single and they're usually a bit better than that.
I don't think me being excited about this since 2009 has helped either...
Having said that
On second listen I liked it a bit more and already ADORE that outro.
This may well be like the time I said 'My love' by Justin Trousersnake was the worst song I'd EVER heard. And at that point in my life, I was already fully aware of Cher's back catalogue.
Big pop faux pas
that song was a monster from the second it leaked with 'ATLANTIC RECORDS FOR TI CLEARANCE' over the top of it every five seconds.
This sort of trash shouldn't even be mentioned in the same breath as JT
I got completely trolled
by the video, spent 10 seconds waiting for them to turn round
Not what I was expecting.
They have set the bar damned high in the past and this isn't quite up to those standards.
I will probably absolutely adore this in a few days time.
It's fucking rubbish.
I listened to this directly after Can't Speak French, and it just made me very, very sad. :(
Yeah, the chanting and rapping is a bit ropey.
The backing track sounds just a bit too generic to be honest, until about half way through when it gets pretty decent, and the outro is good. It sounds a bit too much like a Rihanna offcut.
This really, really needs a remix, beefing up the synthy stuff and adding a few builds and drops.
I think it's alright
it's very Calvin Harris/David Guetta, but the chorus is big enough to make up for it.
somewhere between average and quite good
i've always thought GA were a bit overrated as a singles band, but it's not because they didn't have the songs, just whoever picks their singles is a pleb.
no good
is it better or even as good as The Show, Love Machine or Biology? Nah. It sounds really dated and cheesy to me, at least with the aforementioned singles they sounded quite fresh at the time, well, for pop music anyway.
That chorus melody is really boring to my ears and is the most obvious thing to put over that progression. I'll be quite surprised if this gets into the top 3 when it's released.
Hmm, something weird
Nicola Roberts is eminantly more fanciable than cheryl cole

just good pop
album cover

14 songs. 10 since the last singles collection, including 7 singles, and 4 new tracks.
After 10 years, they FINALLY manage to have a decent album cover
some of the singles have been equally as bad

That's not a lot of time for Kim to practice
Given she'll be doing Strictly until Christmas
They were really rubbish at Wembley but I *think* this will be different, won't it?
Only time I've ever seen them
was at G-A-Y at the Astoria around the time Something Kinda Ooh came out. It was brilliant.
I sensed from the louder fast ones they might be great in the right setting
Which the O2 may well be.
I still have nightmares about the setlist at that gig. 3 covers in an 8 song set. 3??!?!?!!
videos live guys:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZHSFTrcJYmM
Hmm
It's still terrible :(
Is this the same song I wasn't sure about 3 days ago?
It sounds like the best thing EVER today?!
I wonder if they were ever in the same room for that shoot...
The best bit is where Nadine sings 'you better watch your back' WHILE LOOKING AT HER BACK
I'm awaiting the obligatory '10 best bits in the new GA video' Popjustice blog
This will be at number 2 just after the bit where Cheryl's boobs wiggle and after the bit where Nic whispers in Kim's ear.
The boobs were OBSCENE
I didn't even catch who's face it was as their little crop top thing was so tight and looked like it was painted on.
The song has grown on me a little bit
I don't like those orange dresses though. They're a bit unflattering especially with their hair up.
:)

TEN
They cut out a lot of the crap on this greatest hits album to make room for the better singles released since then.
I've done a review, you're interested.

rebuild?
So who went?
It was great, huh?
I'm going to the Glasgow gig on Sunday.
Can't wait.
So that was that.
Good luck to them all, they were a great band. The Ten Tour was a hell of a way to bow out.
yeah they stayed classy to the end
they were basically fantastic and the best pop band since Abba imo.
Do we think this was always the plan
or did the muted reception to the new singles spell the end?
No, this was the plan
I read earlier that Cheryl had already indicated that this was happening in her book (YOU CAN'T MISTAKE HER BIOGRAPHY, etc).
Bet they'd have kept going if the singles had been smashes
but anyway. Nadine's just tweeted to say she didn't want them to split up, oooooooOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooh.
That's not great - hopefully the split isn't bitter.
I think all the signs are that this was planned for a while - a handful of new songs for a new greatest hits, the forthcoming box set collecting pretty much everything they've released and a big 10th anniversary tour. Seems to be an air of finality around all that, and probably a sensible time to knock it on the head.
I don't think it take a genius to see the divide
Cheryl, Kim and Nic. Sarah and Nadine.
All sat separately in the reunion press conference. They were more pally on stage in those groups. Hang out together on Twitter in those groups too.
I hope it means we get another Nicola Riberts album sooner rather than later.
her albums amazing!
sadly though i'm told it bombed so she's gonna focus on tv work.
*told this by my eleven year old cousin,so not sure how reliable this is,she knows pop inside out though tbf
It's a dark day for pop
mtv aired the tour
