We are looking for new acts for our new music company (we're sort of a label and management company... or whatever we can be). We know that a lot of you have impeccable taste as we just flicked through the tips for 2012 thread and found great things like FOE, I Break Horses, Purity Ring, Stay+ and Jessie Ware (the latter has obviously done pretty well of late): http://drownedinsound.com/community/boards/music/4295832

  as I'm sure you know, the chances of making money in music are slim to none these days (if we wanted to make money, we'd be setting up some horrible MySpace-like site for unsigned bands, and charging them money to stream and share their music...).

Sylver Tongue

Charlotte Hatherly from Ash's new project could do quite well next year. Touring with Bat for Lashes soon. Saw a show earlier this year, which was pretty special. Couple of great singles already https://soundcloud.com/sylver-tongue

Toba Cladera have yet to capture their live intensity on record yet.

Hold Kiss Kill have been quiet for a few months sorting out their sound. Not been going long (since early 2011) and only played a few gigs.
That is the Creatures Of Love. Very good friends with The Joy Formidable

Oh! Ruin are mixing new stuff at the moment. The music currently on the internet for them is not a representation of what they are doing now.

All of them are really good live bands.

Eaux are 3 ex members of Sian Alice Group (Sian, Ben & Steve). Rupert (SAG's Drummer) is now in Oh! Ruin.

    ...and about 100 or so days until Xmas (I know This Morning did a countdown when I was having a tea break yesterday).
    ...and the BBC Sound of Poll will come out in first week of December.
    ...and websites will start running albums of the year lists from the end of October (as magazines December issues hit shelves first week of November)
    Surely any 'band' that's going to make a name for themselves next year has done alright at all the festivals? Or maybe had some blog love for their demos? Or stuff like that?

I really like David's Lyre

.. might be slightly too MOR indie for some people here, but that means he would cross over really well to the masses (maybe?).

- they seem destined to be the new Terris. Saw them at Great Escape, and watched the Jools footage, I'm just not hearing what other people can hear. Am sure they'll end up being tipped all over the shop, and then the album will get some 'i told you so' and lukewarm reviews, and then they'll either disappear like Wu Lyf or come back with some fresh take on Electrelane, and do a Horrors inspite of the hype... They seem like a good bunch, but not really worthy of ALL of the buzz. That's a heavy load of hype for any band to carry, and they can probably only disappoint people. Then again, maybe they're new Fall or something, but it'll take decades to know that...

    Stunning live and I liked the single they put out. I'm looking forward to a full-length when it comes - hoping they give themselves/get given enough time to make the kind of record they're capable of making, rather than rushing it to cash in on the attention. Although there's been a shit-ton of hype around them, their attitude so far has suggested they won't get railroaded into that. Hope I'm right.

Little Green Cars and Bleeding Heart Pigeons!

Two bands from Ireland. Little Green Cars have recorded an album with Markus Dravs (Arcade Fire etc.) and Bleeding Heart Pigeons have quietly been burrowing their way onto the agendas of various labels!

I do like everything I've heard from Woman's Hour, looking forward to seeing them again next month, enjoyed them last year when I saw them but didn't blow me away live. Blessa in a similar vein and hae been enjoying their track.

Really digging Vision Fortune recently, London band, done a couple of releases on Conan from Mazes label Italian Beach babes. Would fit in well on labels like Thrill Jockey, Sacred Bones etc, kind of like droney guitar music focused strongly around repetition and rhythm. Yet more canadians, a band called Solar Year from Montreal, dark electronic two piece, one of the guys used to be in that band Clues with Olden from The Unicorns and a guy who was in Arcade Fire. Slight JAG as he's on my label, but a guy from Chicago called J Fernandez, featured in Sean's weekend listening a while back and with support from Pitchfork, Noisey etc, kind of sounds like Broadcast meets Grizzly Bear.     Mike was playing drums in Porcelain Raft for a while, and had a band called Friendo with his ex girlfriend who did a little tour over here with Cold Pumas a couple of years back, and was also playing with Jordan who he was in Azeda Booth with on a project called Ram Hoss.
    
    Matt's been touring with Chad Vangaalen quite a bit. Don't think Pat is doing anything.
