good to see Porto's happening again
think I'll try and save money to go to it.
I went VIP this year
It was okay but I think I'll wait 'til the first lot of cheap non VIP tickets go up...
Without free booze, VIP isn't worth it
Anyway, 100% going to Porto again. Beautiful city, lovely people, obscenely large food portions, cheap SUPER BOCK, pints of cider that tastes like apple sourz, ridiculous line up for the money (I paid £75 for my ticket, my mate bought earlier and paid £60) and the site is awesome.
Sign me up for Porto next year.
Bought 2 x combined VIP.
After skipping this year I'm going in 2013
Non-VIP Early Bird Porto, can't see VIP being worth it without free beer.
The reviews of Porto event have been so positive I'm well excited.
most probably going to porto again, non-vip.
I'm veering towards Porto this year
but I think I'll have to wait for the line up... I'll probably greedily eye up the extra bands on the Barcelona one and end up at the Parc Del Forum again.
Worth paying an extra £20 or whatever to know what you're getting though IMO.
Have to admit, I mostly go for the VIP for just a little more comfort, being an old git. That said, beers are 1 euro instead of 3 aren't they? Doesn't take an awful lot over three days to make your money back. Of course, the main downside is you have no idea who's going to be playing, but I trust them enough to realise there'll be plenty worth seeing
The beer is half the size in the VIP area
probably still worth it
I remember beers being 4 euros this year so if they sell half size beers for 1 euro each I reckon i'll still save quite a bit of money over the weekend
fair enough
Gonna wait for earlybird non-VIP for Barca again.
YES.
after staring whistfully this year at everyone in the vip area
enjoying their sun loungers, bathing area, cheap beer and wi-fi connections I just couldn't resist getting a VIP ticket for next year. It only works out about £15 more than I paid for my normal ticket this year anyway so it seems worth it.
what's this 'companion' thing?
I got confused about that at first
It just means you can buy a VIP ticket for a friend at the same time as yourself.
ah ok, cheers.
will leave that blank then.
woooo! vip
presumably i don't need to have kept my portal card from 2010?
only if you want to collect your tickets...
hmm.
surely i can just get a new card?
oh wait, the card itself is secondary. you associate the card with your account
panic over.
I was just kidding...
Sorry :)
Other thing is with Porto re: VIP
The VIP area isn't as good as Barca as the lounging area is just surrounded by a mesh fence and loads of security people, plus the main toilets at Porto are the standard of the VIP ones in Barca
I may have to do this.
I couldn't convince any of my pals to go this year, so I ended up selling my ticket. I was raging when I saw the complete line-up. :(
Buy a ticket, join the facebook group
Meet lots of like-minded people and forever after have a group of people to go to festivals with.
There's a Facebook group?
why are they doing this so early?
THE REDUCED-PRICE FULL FESTIVAL TICKETS CAMPAIGN BEGINS

Sales points: Atrapalo.com, Codetickets, Ticketmaster, Seetickets UK and through the festival's website
Distribution costs are not included in the price of the tickets
Wow
Does seem early. Loved Porto this year, would love to go back. Might wait until theres a few bands announced though, dont mind paying 10 euros more or wotnot. That said, Ive never seen a bad Primavera line up yet.
crikey.
Gaaaah. My contract on my new job runs out on May 10th next year, dunno if I'd be temping fate buying tickets this early :/
I did it without having a job, you'll be ok
after all I got mugged of everything before it even started anyway and still managed. Get your ticket, put a tiny bit aside each month until then. Oh, and hang out with me lots :D
Yeah, it was in October last year.
I can't afford it now :(
Bit of a snip really though isn't it?
With current rates isn't that around £80? Bargain for what you get in terms of line-up. Of course, the potentially expensive bit is finding somewhere to stay, but there's plenty for all budgets in a city the size of Barcelona
£78.
Gosh.
Tempting, particularly with the £129 Primavera Club option for this
December - -I'd be expecting a few of the bands from The National's ATP bash to play at PC.
bit of a hassle for trying to budget things though
Ryanair don't even have options up for flights that far into the future, so it's hard to judge how much you could save by deciding this far ahead of time
you'll save plenty.
I did a bit of pre-research for Porto
Knowing that our flights came in at £200 return last time by leaving it late, I tried to book as far ahead as I could with Easyjet. Was £60 return. Now obviously, that was March, so end of May might be a bit pricier, but straight off the bat thats £140 on flights, plus £20 or so on a ticket. Quite an amount.
Yeah it was about £60 return in October last year
to book for Weds - Monday for Porto.
just checked and our flights, booked in early May, were £130 each return
so from your example it sounds like we could roughly half that, plus the €100 saved on the early-bird tickets. Sounds promising
Decided I'm definitely going to this next year
dunno which one tho. It's been AGES since my lost holiday, never mind festival, and I've been so jealous of every bastard going this year that I have to go.
Plus, it seems cheap and great.
Come to Barcelona!
If you get the ticket tomorrow it's a great price and that's the bigger festival...
it was something else man
I know all the reports coming out of Porto were great too, but from what I know that seemed pretty far out of the centre of Porto, whereas it was a 5 min metro ride to get out to Parc Del Forum in Barca. So you had a festival *and* an amazing city all within easy reach
It's not far out from the centre of Porto
Porto's not a big city anyway...Don't be put off by that
huh, must've judged it wrong on the maps then
certainly seemed a bit harder to get to/find accommodation nearby
we stayed in the centre of Porto
we got the bus on the first day which took quite a long time, but then we realised taxis were absurdly cheap (worked out at about 7 euros, split between 4 of us, for about a 20 minute journey). So yeah Porto's actually dead cheap and easy to get around. And a pretty cool city.
That said, I'm tempted by Barcelona next year though, I just can't plan this far ahead what with not knowing exam dates and all that.
^this
Porto is tiny
A cab there is 8 euros from the centre of the city. They run nightbuses from the site every 5 minutes. If you stay in Matosinhos (which I intend to do next year) it's on your doorstep
The site at Porto is also 1,000,000% nicer than Barca's
Know the place quite well.
Could offer help if needed...
it's such a good festival
you should deffo go. Get up late- go to beach - chill out - see amazing bands in the sunshine...
And once you get your wristband and stuff on day one it's nicely laid back and there's always plenty of space to move around. No bottlenecks, no hours of queuing at bars...magic!
Getting excited about this already!
How much luck have people had getting earlybird tickets before? Is it a mad panic, then they're gone? I've always bought my ticket waaaaay down the line.
Anyone know who's playing the Wilwall Ltd stage?
I don't ever recall a mad panic for them
I think there's only a panic for the early bird VIP tickets.
Cool
thanks guys. VIP doesn't really seem worth the extra dollar to me.
WHO IS GOING WHERE?
I don't want to buy for Barca then find everyone has gone to Porto!
Barca for me
Just wish it was at the same time as it was this year, it might just clash with the end of my exams :(
oooo, both for 150 euros
http://www.optimusprimaverasound.com/noticiaSingle?action=noticiaSingle&id=1071
... don't tempt me
I would totally do this is I had the money
though the overall expense of travel, more days spending money and accommodation is probably massive. Why did they have to release tickets so soon, I'm not done paying for this years' yet
Wow
Actually tempted by that. If the line ups were more different it would be a no brainer. Loved Porto, never been to Barca.
urgh
don't think i can :/
i'll come to manchester soon to make up for it?
Porto
Heard great thing about the site and city this year...excited and only 65 euros.
See tickets seem to have the tickets listed
and it says they are going on sale at 11. But they seem to have the price wrong for the Porto ticket. Says they are €99. That is wrong, isn't it?
yes that is wrong
on Seetickets Porto + Club Primavera is €95
which is 4 euros cheaper than Porto on its own
I just tweeted them about it
Hopefully it get changed before they go on sale
I've retweeted you
They fixed it!!
People power!
Two Porto Tickets bought....roll on May
Got a weekend ticket for Portugal
Seriously excited for this, anyone know where's best to book cheap accommodation?
Got my Barcelona ticket
£84 including fees. Incredible. Now just going to pray to the God of exams for ~9 months to make sure my final university exams don't clash with it. Urgh. Fingers crossed...
Wait where are the tickets on sale?
Didn't think they went up until 1pm?
See tickets has them up at the moment
and paypal
Thanks! Sorted now
I wanted Paypal, but ended up using those bastards Seetickets in a panic. At least I didn't fall for their insurance scam again.
I think Seetickets is better for Primavera.
Yeah, you pay a bit more in fees, but I've always seen huge queues for Paypal ticket collections, while See send you the ticket, so you don't have to queue for both collection and wristband exchange.
Not true
There was no queue when I picked up my wristband. And you don't have to queue twice, you show your Paypal receipt and they give you the wristband and the little platic card straight away.
Paypal fee = € 1.60
Seetickets fee = € 7.31
it is actual true that the queue for paypal can get pretty long
and far more often than much longer/slower than seetickets.
My biggest issue with paypal you have to give the name of everybody who has a ticket they have to bring their passports etc., which is a pain.
???
this year i picked up my wristband from the collection place on the ramblas on wednesday at around lunchtime. I was only queuing for about 10 minutes at most and once they found out I had a paypal ticket I got my wristband/card pretty much straight away. It was definitely faster for people with paypal tickets compared to regular tickets anyway.
ok if you collected from outside the venue on the Thursday
the queue is much much longer.
trust me, I've had paypal tickets 5 years in a row.
Booked
Now the loooooooooooooong wait
This is now a rumour thread:
I hear David Bowie is playing this year.
I'm excited for this
but still can't decide which one I'm going to. Probably Barcelona I think. I bet the Porto one will be a lot more packed next year.
i
would love to go , but too early, and can't sort out any friends to go at the mo
Well well well look who's come craawling back
:'D
Maybe Shellac will play!
...
I love how frantic people are to spend money on an event that's a year away, despite the issues regarding certain other events/companies being debated on here!
Not that there's any reason to suggest this event might experience problems of course. Just saying. A year is a long time to have money tied up in something....
^ loving it
I totally trust Primavera
to not fuck anything up now. They've been going long enough now that even the minor niggles I had in the past are dealt with pretty swiftly. They're established.
Also even if the lineup does turn out to be 'weak' in comparison to previous years (as this year's was), there's still more than enough excellent bands and things to do. For me, it's basically just a holiday with a festival included.
trololol
2 Barcelona tickets bought!
Awesome!
..
How long have they been going? Longer than ATP? I have no idea! Also, what's it actually like? Is it essentially full of English people? That 'brits abroad at a festival' mentality is something that always puts me off these things. Especially as I saw a video from Benicassim the other day with a horde of people saying "we normally go to Magaluf every year, but this year we're doing festivals". Sent a bit of a shudder down my spine!
About 2003 I think.
It's nothing like Beniccasim (from what I'm told of Benicassim). It's a lot more of an ATP-style crowd. Quite a few Brits go now but there's no stereotypical loud laddish tourists.
...
11 years (since 2001)
No.
Really good.
No, there is a broad mix of Spanish, Irish, English, French etc.
..
Sounds better than most foreign festivals I see advertised then. I struggle with festivals a lot though- it's always like seeing bands you like amid a sea of people who couldn't care less, which is pretty infuriating to say the least. Line up always seems pretty solid though.
this thread is going to make me sad in the future, i can see it
*closes thread forever*
Number of Brits has grown over the years, but I think around 75% of the crowd are still Spanish. It's as different to Benicassim as ATP is to Reading/Leeds. Let's hope it stays that way too.
Much higher in Porto
I think cos it was the first year and a lot of people (like me) defected from Barca
According to a post-festival press statement by the organisers
regarding the crowd in Porto: "50% were foreigners from more than 40 countries including the UK, Spain, Sweden, France, Italy, Germany, Argentina, Brazil and the United States"
Looks like there are tickets on sale for the Barcelona festival
throughout August to beat the VAT increase in Spain.
http://www.primaverasound.com/noticiaSingle?origen=ps&id=1073
So when are we gonna get some bands announced?
i found porto primavera
to be a poor festival. it was kinda bleak, limited, small and didn't have the superb barcelona atmosphere. coulda just been teething troubles mind you but i won't be heading back any time soon. primavera in barcelona is pretty much faultless - a beautiful festival i couldn't recommend to first-timers highly enough.
the
First headliner will be announced on Monday
where did they say this?
from the organiser's twitter....
El anuncio de uno de los cabezas de cartel del #PS13 será el lunes a las 12.00 h.
Cool
I kinda hope they've got Bjork back.
I'd quite like to go to this.
Although most of my pals seem to be investing their 2013 festival fund into Glastonbury. Boo-urns.
Blur announced as headliners
that's pretty cool i think i'm happy with that
the
headliners for both primaveras are Blur
Been meaning to book my Porto ticket for ages
Done today. Yes.
Can't wait to go back, for a first year last year went very smoothly, it's such a great city and the festival site is wonderful
hi
How expensive is accomdaation/flights for Porto? I am very tempted, might get a ticket now! Is the site near the beach?
This:
- accomodation is cheap, from 20 to 50 quid per person per night, depending how luxurious you want it to be
- flights are a bit more expensive than Barcelona, anywhere between 150 and 250 quid for a return
- the site is next to a huge, sandy beach
cool
Thanks
There's flights on Easyjet for £90 at the moment
If you go Wednesday - Wednesday. Return flight is more pricey as its the end of the Half Term holiday.
Thanks
Taking Mrs and Baby Fiddygent, should be interesting
Right, I actually am gonna try and get my arse in gear to go to this
What do I need to know before booking? I'm guessing it's an expensive week given you need accommodation etc as well yea?
me and my friend went to Barcelona last year
cost us £800 each in total for 6 days there - that's tickets, flights, accommodation and spending money all in. Not bad at all I think
Strong choice of headliner
looking forward to this already
Good headliner
All over this now. Can't decide on Porto/Barcelona.
Went to Porto last year, so was thinking Barcelona, but I've heard the site there is more of a car park. I really liked sitting on the grass in the afternoon in Porto, not so keen on sitting about in a car park.
It's cooler than a car park
Like a giant car park from the future right next to the sea.
It's more interesting than the Porto site. There's a bit of grass here and there too, if you're into that sort of thing.
The Porto site>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>The Barca site
I like both
But overall Barca is more impressive and different to other festival sites I've been to before. Porto was fine, but fairly unspectacular.
Yeah the beach is literally next to the site
And if you want to sit inside there is bits of grass, sand pits and playgrounds to sit in... but one of the best places to chill is on the huge steps down to the Ray Ban stage which act like seating for the stage.
It's not a 'car park', it was a site built for a World's Fair-style exhibition. It's pretty cool, but admittedly if green is what your looking for, maybe Porto would be for you.
The Porto site is next to the beach too
Yeah not saying it's better than Porto
I've never been. Just saying that the Barca one is still pretty cool.
I *think* (i.e I've got a ticket) that I'll be going to Barca for the last time this year, and then Porto 2014, but I haven't ruled out the old switcheroo to Portugal if I'm feeling adventurous.
Or even doing both :)
I saw a cool ad at the cinema whcih was filmed at the Barca site
Anyone else seen it? It was for Smart Cars I think.
Ah here it is
http://yinnyang.co.uk/2012/10/smart-car-tandem-skate-video/ Really makes me want to go back there.
I'm going to do Porto for the first time...
I think you should go to Barcelona
:D
LOLLLLLLLL
Seriously, I'll have a better time if you do
Sorry, sorry
YOU'LL have a better time. Honest. xxx
I am going (or planning to go) to... (a ^this sub-thread)
a) Barcelona
b) Porto
c) Both
Maybe
It might be a bad idea though.
When did Porto become the go-to?
Isn't it essentially just a barebones version of the Barcelona event?
It's smaller, newer
and therefore more indie.
I want to go, but I know I'd kick myself when I saw the beefier Barcelona line up
I'm all about the music, man.
some people (such as me)
went last year, and came back with very positive reports. It's half the price of Barca, and a change of scenery if you've been to Barca before (why I changed to Porto)
There aren't as many stages or bands but to be honest there's only a certain amount of time in the day - you only see about 20% of the Barca line up anyway
eugh, fuck off Blur
it doesn't really matter I guess as it's just a headliner
My only reservation with them being the first & only band announced
is that it might attract the proper lads with proper haircuts... which Primavera is generally free of.
Love The Blurs though.
thing is, they're playing all over Europe this summer
So it's not like one place will become the focal LAD point
Porto ticket booked
woop woop!
bumping the 2013 thread....
from Gabi:
The total number of letters contained in the names of the headliners is 33.
The number of components of the female sex is headlining one or none.
So
No MBV or Arcade Fire
29 characters left after Blur.
Rihanna?
Note: It won't be Rihanna.
how many headliners do they have? Six?
If so, they'll all be bands whose name consists of a single, short word.
Britpop revival!
i'm going for
Blur
Menswear
Cast
Salad
Bis
Gene
Dodgy
Sleeper? Marion?
last year
It was said to be four
( The Cure, Bjork, Wilco, Franz Ferdinand)
You heard it here first;
Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds
The Knife
Pheonix
Ride
If they mean the main 3 Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds + Blur + Phoenix = 33.
I find this utterly plausible.
32 mate
MATHS
Erm, you might want to count again. Definitely 33.
no arguing with maths
my inability to count letters aside
are Phoenix big enough to headline this? Putting a lot of pressure on their new album to not be a big steaming pile of dogshit
As much as I like a silly unsolvable riddle
I was pleasantly surprised in the same blog when they said they were able to book everyone they had set out to for the first time ever. That can only mean good things, and no odd gaps or stand-in headliners.
Anyone actually know when they're announcing more acts?
It's usually immediately after a price rise, but I don't think we're due for one of those yet.
he
previously end of Jan, though if they had sense, they'd get some announcements done asap if confirmed
what about
Blur (4), Sigur Ros (8), Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds(21),
so
Radiohead are ruled out
https://twitter.com/gabiruizps/status/268255548397465600
gud
hmm...
Apparently leaked Primavera line
up
http://www.thelineofbestfit.com/news/latest-news/primavera-2013-line-up-leaked-115239
if that were real
id be fucking chuffed.
unfortunately i suspect its not though.
i spoke to Worlds End Girlfriends' manager two weeks ago and she said there are no plans for UK dates this year (as i was enquiring about booking)
Daft Punk won't play it anyway surely.
No Shellac
Clearly wrong.
lol, imagine Whitehouse reforming to play on a beach of all places.
Expect they'd have spelled most of the bands correctly if that were real
Which is a shame, as Deerhof sound like they could be amazing.
It's a fake - confirmed by a friend in Barcelona
who is part of Collectivo Detakon. And unaware she was playing...
probably fake
but I'd definitely take that.
so what's the username of the person that created this?
*Deerhof*
hum
aren't loads of bands announced by now USUALLY anyway?
Think they said the whole lineup for Barca mid Jan and Porto at the end of the month
23rd January apparently
I hear Bowie is playing this year
:)
Although it would be great to be able to see him, I'm not sure that it would suit the festival to have that big a headliner, especially one who's effectively a heritage act.
Neil Young headlined in 08 or 09
'09 i think, same year as he did Glastonbury and whatever they call the Hyde Park thing...
Neil Young isn't as big as a Bowie show would be.
To a point, Bowie only winning cos he's been away so long. They're the same ballpark
Anyway, I've spent far too much of my life arguing on the internet about relative festival headliner sizes. So let's leave it there.
Also I don't know why everyone presumes Bowie will play shows
I'd
be surprised if Bowie did anything, other than maybe a show at a seated venue at some point with a lot of breaks
how come?
I went to t in the park in 2004 and he was on the line up then (he pulled out last minute through illness mind you)
all those shows were cancelled because he had to have heart surgery
he's made only sporadic public appearances since then and hasn't performed live in any capacity for well over five years
what
He said. He's 66 and i think the best we can hope for realistically is the odd album.
I'm not sure you can assume that he's completely unable to tour either
I just think it would be very odd for him to jump from zero to a full world tour bonanza. If he does ever decide to play again, then you'd expect him to do a couple of pricey dates at the O2 or whatever, long before he considered doing the festival scene.
At the same time, given that they've explicitly said that no tour dates are planned, there's no point in getting excited.
Can't see Primavera
Just people putting 2+2 together with them building up to the lineup announcement, at around the same time Bowie decides to show his face.
Think it was a joke initially tbf
But, yeah, clearly never going to happen.
Argh this thread keeps getting my hopes up that there is news.
ARRGGHH
We already know we're getting the entire line up on Jan 23
Be patient, my boy.
Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds at Porto
and the local newspaper also mentioned Dead Can Dance - they will be in Lisbon on May 28th for a concert which is already sold out.
Any
Link for this?
I really hope it's true about Nick Cave:-)
I hope you understand Portuguese. :)
http://www.jn.pt/PaginaInicial/Cultura/Interior.aspx?content_id=2984908
http://www.ionline.pt/boa-vida/nick-cave-the-bad-seeds-no-optimus-primavera-sound
cool
sounds good
Yeah
link / source re: Nick cave please please please?
Reeeaalllyy hope this is happening
Ok, so booking our apartment through http://www.apartmentsramblas.com
We've found one and it states that all guests must be over 30. Surely they're not actually going to enforce this? We're all in our late-20s...
Is that one in Born?
I remember looking at that. Decided against it, as quite fancied getting something close to the beach.
Nah, Santa Catarina
Is that Sanctuary from Logan's Run?
Booked my porto flights last night, and my hotel in Pinhao for post fest Douro valley port based recouperation :)
TWO MORE DAYS
Two more days...
Until the Barcelona announcement anyway
Flights, apartment, festival ticket all BOOKED
for Porto, with a trip to Madrid beforehand. Now let's hope the line up isn't rubbish.
any
ideas as to when the Porto line up is announced? I know it's a different day to the Barca one...
Rodriguez has self announced for Primavera and Glastonbury
Not sure which primavera he's playing or maybe even both.
im guessing
thisll be the big ticketed show in the auditori this year (see sufjan in '11 and jeff mangum last year)
who the hell is rodriguez?
http://bit.ly/10EwFxi
Nah
i reckon the big ticketed show will either be Elizabeth Fraser or the knife.
elizabeth fraser!
both of those would be better than rodriguez, but then ive only listened to his music and not seen the searching for sugar man documentary so i guess i'm missing the point?
really enjoyed the auditori as a venue last year tho. michael gira was superb.
I don't
know how big he is in Spain, but i'd probably say he'd be more the main stage afternoon or a non-ticketed at the auditoria thing.
I only say Knife for auditori because they may prefer indoors. Otherwise, a main stage band for sure.
If Fraser is doing it, i can only imagine her wanting to stay indoors.
The Knife are headlining a couple of
Scandinavian festivals, which suggests their live show's being done for festivals now ie perfect for Prima main stage.
Do ticket prices go up
as soon as the announcement's up? Not sure if I should wait til I get paid (Friday) or not.
They went up to 160 euros
On the 7 Jan. Not sure if they're going to go up again.
http://www.efestivals.co.uk/festivals/primavera/2012/
Efestivals says they were 180 last year at full price, which seems high? http://www.efestivals.co.uk/festivals/primavera/2012/
Gala announcement thing starts at 6pm
COOL
Porto announcement not until 5th Feb
:( :( :(
gaaaah
I rex Nick Cave and Phoenix
got a feeling
Phoenix were already confirmed for Alive (Lisbon)
July, 14. With Green Day, Depeche Mode, Two Door Cinema Club, alt-J, Of Monsters and Men e Kings of Leon.
This does not mean anything, I know.
people that know about these things more than me.
any chance of springsteen playing / headlining?
He's got a two-day gap in his european calendar when primavera is, and while looking at past primavera line-ups, no one that huge has ever played; springsteen has played smaller festivals in the past. and people like neil young have played.
plus his european tour features no dates in spain.
too wishful thinking?
i would be extremely surprised if he played
and equally erect
I'd say unlikely but not outlandish
Looking forward to the gala stream this evening
Reckon they're going to pull a pretty big name out of the hat. Gabi has been really pushing his #bestfestivalever.
really enjoying the pavement live footage
on the gala stream right now.
5 minutes to go then
I'm doing Glastonbury this year instead but still interested. Should give a good idea of who is on the festival circuit
Starting now on their website
Hope they don't drag this out like it's a bloody Champions League draw.
oooh
is that man Spanish?
Helluva beard
oh god, no-one gives a shit about this bollocks
announce the bands and gtfo
spanish neil hamburger
can someone translate the band names for me?
they should get Michael Eavis to do this
i bet this guy's telling loads of wicked jokes and we're missing out
so that's where derek smalls got to
fuuuuuuck off.
Well this is terrible
i'm seriously gonna start self-harming soon
This Hipsters Anonymous video is making me cringe all over
Champions League Draws have been more enjoyable
This is disappearing up its own arse.
Let the people in the apolo get pissed and tell us the bands.
Fuck me, this is interminable.
Can I return my ticket if this lot are playing?
yadayadayada... Heineken is now the beer sponsor yadayadayda...
Hate this guy already.
I want this guy to do an impression of every single band playing as he announces them
Then I might be encouraged to watch on
another hipster sketch?
are they actually taking the piss?
and was that an inbetweeners quote?
i can't even...what the fuck
jeff magnum
Jeff Magnum
Fuck me! That's a pretty great lineup!
holy shit
holy shit
Good lineup, huh
Seeing as Deerhunter are playing I might go instead of ATP
cool,
looking forward to this now.
lost the fucking feed
OH MY!
WOW
Line up
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SfgoBAmFWHE
fucking hell
thats such an impressive lineup. despite a lack of big *surprises* it does look pretty spectacular. ill be there as soon as i get my exam timetable :/
Good lineup
not quite as BOWIE/DAFT PUNK amazing as some people wanted, but pretty strong. Looking forward to it.
think i'd prefer lineup depth like this,
rather than loads of the cash splashed on a big name.
Postal Service, Hot Snakes, Mac DeMarco, Sea & Cake, Woods, JAMC
Hope these ones filter through to Porto.
Worth sitting through this rubbish thing
for that lineup.
Few more..
Blur
Nick Cave and Bad Seeds
Phoenix
Dexys
Tame Impala
Postal Service
Band of Horses
Deerhunter
MBV
Jesus and Mary Chain
James Black
Animal Collective
Grizzly Bear
Wu Tang Clan
The Knife
Hot Chip
Swans
Hot Snakes
Apparat
Omar Souleyman
Liars
Fuck Buttons
*Blake
bloody good lineup!
Is that the whole line-up?
Bit lacking.
Fair bit more - at the end of the video
shellac!!
Bob Mould
dead can dance
a few nice surprises, otherwise very predictable. solid line-up though
:o
Camera Obscura
Daphni
Daughter
Delorean
FIDLAR
Goat
Glass Candy
How To Dress Well
Liars
Merchandise
Metz
Paus (portuguese good band)
Savages
Peace
The Sea and the Cake
The Vaccines
Wild Nothing
Thee Oh Sees
The Vaccines...?
Are you sure?
Oops.
Just spotted them.
yep
Wed. 22nd - With Delorean, Guards, The Bots, ...
Pitchfork have the full lineup
http://pitchfork.com/news/49263-primavera-sound-festival-announces-my-bloody-valentine-phoenix-the-postal-service-the-knife/ (it's an image so can't copypaste).
Still nothing as mainstream as a list on the PS website or FB page....
Postal Service billed above Animal Collective
bit surprised by that. Who are Los Planetas?
spanish "indie rock" band
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1BVP72VrGQs
quite surprised they booked animal collective
after their utterly abysmal set in 2011/every gig they've ever played
I enjoyed that set. Only time I've ever seen them though
I love them
but I still haven't forgiven them for that set. Just...appalling
Nils Frahm too!!!
line-up done in cool video form
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=SfgoBAmFWHE
Looks pretty good, all the bands I'm considering seeing going to see here are playing, which could be a handy money-saver
With Blur, J&MC, MBV and Dinosaur Jr playing...
we can all recreate the Rollercoaster Tour of 1992.
Quick question to those that have been before
What kind of budget would I need for this do you think?
Flights + Ticket + accomodation and a bit of spending?
What has it cost you in previous years.
I'm trying to work out if I can afford it.
take as much as you can afford, you'll soon find out if it was enough
went last year with a friend
cost £400 for the flights/tickets/hotel (we stayed for 6 nights in total) and then I spent another £400 on food and drinks and stuff. Could easily have cut down on the spending money but just wanted to relax and not have to think about that.
So I'd say, depending on what kind of place you're wanting to stay in, about £650
I spent just shy of a grand
a fair chunk of that was on one ridiculous night before the festival though. £600 if you just go for the three nights
Depends if you want to eat out, drink loads, buy stuff
You could probably do it around £600/700 all in if you didn't 'go large'
i want to go to there
well
For the porto lot, Nick Cave and the bad seeds self confirmed on twitter/facebook they are headlining Porto as well, playing May 30th:-)
Neko Case!
Count me in.
barcelona are at home the weekend before,
for any footie people.
i'm gon make a holiday of it.
Really? Damn. I was assuming La Liga would be wrapped up by then. There's a distinct possibility they might be playing on the Saturday night of the festival too, in the Champions League final. A potential 'mare for the organisers
there's even 2 more liga games after the festival too, into june.
think it's years ending in 3 for some reason. went sonar in 2003 and la liga was on then, mid june.
It was fine in 2011.
They put the match up on the big screens of one of the stages. Great atmosphere.
strangely surreal watching the final whilst hearing mogwai soundchecking a few hundred yards away!
They also play Espanyol the Wednesday after. Hopefully get to one of the two games. Fantastic experience. Don't get me wrong, it was great watching the final at the festival, but it does cause huge problems when it comes to setting the timetable for the people organising it, as no-one wants to play while the game is on, so you basically end up with a two hour break. There's already a lot to squeeze in this year
Mogwai's set was put back so they could watch the final in 2011
drummer wore a Barca shirt for the duration of the gig
Really impressed with the lineup.
I bought myself an early bird ticket and I can't say I'm disappointed in the slightest. I just need to get flights and accommodation sorted now.
Was resigned to miss out this year...
Then I found cheap flights on Ryanair, Fuuuck!
Good lineup
Will there be anything on the Sunday? Not according to that daily breakdown on pitchfork.
just the free gig at the Arc
hot snakes is the big one for me
because hopefully they'll do a tour here again, no way I'm missing that this time!
worst primavera lineup i've seen tbh
was considering going this time, ah well
Shellac!
Love this line up
but would it be fair to say Primavera could be re-branded as I LOVE 90s ALT ROCK?
the laughter on the webcast when they announced Shellac was brilliant
imagine how hurt they'd be if they weren't asked to play one year
I reckon they wouldn't realise
And would just turn up and start setting their gear up on the ATP stage around 9pm, like always.
Remember they don't play corporate festivals.
Who is the sponsor this year?
Hiya, someone do a spotify playlist
thankkkkss
Not one Ive done
But found this over on the primavera forum
http://open.spotify.com/user/myfeetinflames/playlist/6HTaS3j7ZWxpPrfdLLRfkS
I did one too
Five of the most accessible tracks from each artist so you get a good mix if you chuck it on shuffle and can listen to more if you like what you hear.
http://open.spotify.com/user/ma0sm/playlist/4KLb2bjgN0UUtU4xoqF7n8
Anyone know where the Vaccines/Delorean gigs on the 22nd will be?
I loved the Poble Espanyol when I was there two years ago, but I didn't go last year and it was in a different place. Was it any good?
Looking at the News section on the website it looks like that's going to be a free to all concert at the Parc de Forum this time. There is no mention of what's happening on the Sunday though. Perhaps that's where they're saving a bit of money? Maybe it will go back to being a closing party in the Apolo, like it used to be?
Think they're doing the apolo again(one of the organisers owns the venue)
They were trying to get someone to do an unannounced set there, like Interpol did a few years back
Oh, and also...
Those problems they had with the QR codes on the beer cards in 2011 - what did they do in 2012? Did they do a different system or did they get the QR system to work properly?
cash bars last year
Awesome
.
oh god, please please please let them stick with the cash bars
as well as the hilariously huge spirit measures. it wouldn't be primavera without a gin and tonic being made up of 98% gin and 2% tonic.
last year the measures were rubbish
i got into a few arguments with the bar staff as the measures were nowhere near as good as previous years and the spanish standard single = triple
somebody probably went *woah, guys we're losing a fortune on the bars!*
Porto's measures weren't great but the beer was nicer, bigger and cheaper than Barca. And they had pints of sangria for 4 euro.
noooooooo
Mind you, I do have VIP tickets so maybe things will be more...traditional...in that area.
BARCELONA PEOPLE
if theres someone looking for a place on their own im booking this lovely place;
http://www.wimdu.co.uk/offers/8S6HGIDE?amenities%5Bintercom%5D=intercom&path=barcelona%2Fintercom&price_filter%5Bmax%5D=7&price_filter%5Bmin%5D=0&seo_path=%2Fbarcelona%2Fintercom
there is a single sofabed/bed which will comfortably host someone who isnt fat. £10 per night if anyone is interested?
(available tues eve- mon morn)
How far is that from the festival?
an hours walk
or 15mins on the metro.
sounds pretty grim though tbh
what sounds grim about it??
very bare, but not grim..
for 5 euros more
you could get a bed in a hostel and not have to worry about the washing, cleaning or electric not working.
if you can only use 1000w of electric at once then you cant do that much cooking in there, unless there isnt a fridge/freezer etc. let alone put some music on or make a cup of tea.
if its warm (which it has been when ive been to the festival) the lack of air con could mean that during the day when i do most of my sleeping it could be uncomfortably warm.
a hostel?
yep
a hostel
Might be up for this if you don't have any takers already.
Looking to book an apartment for 6 people
Anybody stayed in an apartment before and got any recommendations for this? Went to Barcelona last year with my girlfriend and stayed right in the city centre, unsure which area we should be looking at this time though. City centre shouldn't be too bad with the metro? 20 minutes or so I read somewhere? Could do with a few pointers.
Also, preferably it'd be with a company that lets you pay a deposit and then settle the rest when you're there. Help plz
Stayed in a good one a couple of years ago
I'll try and get hold of the person who sorted it out
Sweet! Cheers.
Just found one that looks alright to me on Tripadvisor, checking with the others to see what they think.
How are security regarding camera's and such?
No SLRs in the Auditori.
Saw people being turned away - you put it in left luggage though cos they're allowed in the rest of the Forum IIRC.
A tad nervous about the Porto line-up, having booked it all
Seen this list of names posted on FB as being almost guaranteed.. none of which would have been in my first choice of acts
https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=4257964896346
You're nervous cos a random on Facebook posted like 7 bands which would make up a tenth of the line up?
...well, when you put it that way
I've just booked the Hotel Princess
for 5 nights. Gonna swag it up. 4 star, sauna, sea views, daily massage, and just opposite the festival site. Apparently it's where a lot of the bands stay so I'll be spending some time poolside playing indie I-Spy.
I'll have a couple of spare days to go into Barcelona city centre as well, so I'll probably hire a bike and cycle in along the seafront. Can't wait. It's most likely I'll be going alone, but would be keen on meeting up with people and getting to know the locals for a few days if it's that sort of vibe.
loooovely hotel. i hate you.
jealous, but couldn't justify the cost when my share in a nice apartment for the week is about £100.
Does anyone know anything about apartmentbarcelona.com by the way?
i.e. safe, reliable, etc?
yeah, ^this
No idea
I booked Apartment Diagonal through Inventiaclick (http://bit.ly/11mCvo9). Your scepticism made me have a search and now this: http://bit.ly/VASA1C has me worried!
PORTO DAY
Anyone have any idea that time the announcement is?
apparently
15.30 portuguese time
Marv.
Portugal keep the same time as UK, right?
no
yeah they do
http://wwp.greenwichmeantime.com/time-zone/europe/european-union/portugal/time/
well I never,
you learn something new everyday
we're both wrong Portugal time is obviously behind GMT
Seems to be happening now.
no The Knife :(
Portuguese time = UK time
Definitely.
Blur, Nick Cave, Shellac, Swans, Liars, Glass Candy, Dan Deacon, Melody's Echo Chamber, James Blake, Dinosaur Jr., Metz, Fucked Up, Titus Andronicus, The Breeders, Deerhunter, Grizzly Bear, MBV, EiTS
awww,
no The Knife, no The Postal Service
Full list
Blur (na foto acima), Dan Deacon, Daniel Johnston, Daughn Gibson, Dead Can Dance, Dear Telephone, Deerhunter, Degreaser, Dinossaur Jr., Do Make Say Thing, Explosions in The Sky, Fidlar, Four Tet, Foxygen, Fuck Buttons, Fucked Up, Ghostdigital, Glass Candy, Grizzly Bear, Guadalupe Plata, Hot Snakes, James Blake, Julio Bashmore, L’Hereu Escampa, Liars, Local Natives, Los Planetas, Manel, Meat Puppets, Melody’s Echo Chamber, Memória de Peixe, Merchandise, Metz, My Bloody Valentine, Neco Case, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, Nurse with Wound, OM, PAUS, Pegasvs, Rodriguez, Roll The Dice, Savages, Shellac, Swans, The Breeders (performing Last Spash), The Glockenwise, The Magician, The Sea and Cake, Titus Andronicus, White Fence, Wild Nothing.
So who's missing then? The Knife jumps out, but there must be others.
The Postal Service
Wu Tang
John Talabot
Hot Chip
Phoenix
Apparat
Band of Horses
Simian Mobile Disco
Killer Mike
Animal Collective
Some harsh cuts!
innit!
I was so close to buying a ticket but I'm glad I didn't to be honest. Lineup is still good but there seems to be loads of stuff missing if you compare both lineups last year.
Cuts seem harsher than last year
And Porto had some more exclusives that Barca last year too.
It's a lot cheaper ticket though I guess
Guess some of these acts required more light shows or had more expensive rider requirements / travel costs due to number of members?
The Knife is the only one I'm really gutted about. Oh well, never been to Porto before, going with a good group and beer is super cheap so I'm not THAT fussed. I'll just put Silent Shout on really loudly one night, turn the lights out and get Will do dress up as in some weird theatrical outfit.
Yeah, true.
Still, Barca's tickets *do* start off under 100 euro.
Anyway I have no idea why I'm discussing either, I'm not even bloody going.
And Porto tickets start at 75 euro
can I join you that night....
not just the tickets that are cheaper.
Accommodation, beer and travel were all cheaper for last year. Obviously depends on where you stay and fly from. And the site is nicer, grass instead of concrete.
though you get Julio Bashmore and EITS as exlusives it looks like.
Talabot played Porto last year though
Shame no Phoenix, Hot Chip or Killer Mike as Porto's site is really great for dancing. The rest, oh well. Especially after the last time I saw Animal Collective at Primavera
Jessie Ware too
Very happy with that!
Got tickets for Knife and will get Postal Service for Brixton, rest I can live without. GLASS CANDY AND NURSE WITH WOUND
Is that last sentence one or two people?
#outoftheloop
Ha, 2 seperate people
Glass Candy are on Italians Do It Better, Johnny Jewel (from Chromatics) other band. They're awesome fun!
:(
I knew we'd miss a few people out but the 3 people I wanted to see most are all gone (Hot Chip, Knife, Wu Tang)
Still a few people I like, just a shame that I've seen them all before. Sure I'll find other things to like though...
I demand to know why Pissed Jeans aren't playing this year
They fucking SLAYED 2 years back and are due a new record any day now.
Selfish.
Shame about The Knife
And Omar Souleyman. Hot Chip would have been good too but as long as the weather's nice and the port is cheap I couldn't really give a fuck.
Honestly
don't worry about the Porto cuts. In the end I only really wanted to see about 3 bands last year overall and the amazing festival, site, town, food, drink and weather more than made up for it. Plus discovered loads of really great bands I wouldn't have done normally.
^this
The festival is much smaller. Yeah barca's got more bands but after 2 years of going - you can't actually see them all as they all clash. I actually saw far more bands at Porto than I ever did at a barca one
Shellac and Swans........that's fine.
And no chance of stumbling across Animal Collective noodling at 4am.
Pleased with the line up, really good mix
And the nice thing about Porto is that it's not as big as the barca one which gives a really good vibe.
Can't wait to be on the Matosinhos beach opposite the site drinking super bock now!
Also barca goers have to drink Heineken
While we get delicious super bock
*San Miguel, unless it's suddenly changed?
I fucking hate Heineken...
It's changed
oh jesus christ no..
Rum and Diet Coke all weekend for me then!
Probably a good thing - I'm way more energetic on rum than lager...
same. but compounded by the no free-pouring its pretty beh.
You kept that pretty quiet!
So you know, Pitchfork have yet to announce their stage.
http://pitchfork.com/news/49423-optimus-primavera-sound-fest-announces-my-bloody-valentine-blur-nick-cave-grizzly-bear-swans-deerhunter-james-blake-fucked-up/
That will probably be them just naming who off the current line-up will be playing on their stage though won't it?
I would love it if not though
Not sure if this means anything but...
Last year Porto had ~60 bands on the lineup. At least, according to this clash finder: http://clashfinder.com/s/ops12/
So far they've announced ~50.
Believe a lot of the acts that would have crossed over from Barcelona are going stateside for Sasquatch that same week
I'm still hoping a few more names will get announced
recently decided i'm prob doing one of them but CAN'T DECIDE WHICH
i want to do porto but... the knife :( barcelona is cheaper/easier to get to but prob more expensive once there
or maybe i should just save my money and go on a trip round eastern europe instead argh
barca is a LOT more expensive
I was worried that Porto would feel flat but it was absolutely brilliant - if you can bear to miss a couple of bands.
Yes
I spent a lot less than I was expecting to at Porto.
There is a bar in Porto that is one euro a pint
And a restaurant where 4 of us were brought 45 oversized tapas dishes and 4 litres of sangria for 15 euro
Some really good additions to Barcelona today
http://www.primaverasound.com/noticiaSingle?origen=ps&id=1138
Come on Porto get the finger out!
Godflesh + Bo Ningen + Foscor
Ace line up that.
Still a bit unclear as to whether the Pitchfork stage lineup has actually been announced?
Really need 2 weekend tickets for this
If anyone has a spare.really should have bought tickets before booking flights, apartment etc.IT NEVER SELLS OUT!!!!
It's sold out??
There go my vague plans
Tickets..
I know there's a long time to go and I'm willing to be patient and pay a bit more. But can anyone advice where to look for tickets? Nothing going on ebay or gumtree - did anyone buy there last year?
Buy 3 x day tickets which are still available
Only weekend tickets have sold out.
They are releasing a new batch of Barca Weekend tickets on April the 3rd
Don't Panic
Heard this
But wasn't able to find out anymore. Do you know what time fiddygent and roughly how many? Will they be the same price as previous releases?
Any word on...
Another announcement?
MORE TICKETS - MOVE QUICKLY
http://www.seetickets.com/event/primavera-sound-2013-barcelona-/parc-del-forum/655056
Few line-up changes
Fiona Apple, Foxygen, FIDLAR and The Crime & City Solution have cancelled. (Shame about FIDLAR, don't care about the rest)
Django Django, Phosphorescent (rad!!!), DJ Koze, Scuba and The Drones added.
yes amazing
what a swap!
Similar
Changes to Porto?
Porto only got The Drones and a catalan producer called Headbirds
Bit more of a downgrade
One for the gig upgrade thread, there
shame about fiona apple
but not overly surprising
oh thats a superb switcharoo!
gonna be hard to see everyone tho
any regular heads know if/when they announce the stage/set-time breakdown?
also is it regular festival slots? like 35-45m? or more like ATP, where minimum is usually an hour?
One of the organisers on twitter said the times would be next week.
And, I've only been once, but last year I think most sets were either 45 minutes or an hour, and headliners would get more than that.
You can check out the timetable from last year for an idea about set times
http://clashfinder.com/s/ps2012/?
I made a Primavera 2013 playlist
No more than 5 tracks per artists to get a good sweep across the entire festival if you want to chuck it on shuffle.
http://open.spotify.com/user/ma0sm/playlist/4KLb2bjgN0UUtU4xoqF7n8
It's going to be my 10th Primavera this year !
Are you Spanish
or rich?
Dedicated, by the sounds of it
you didn't fancy Porto?
Diiv are out :(
http://www.thelineofbestfit.com/news/latest-news/diiv-cancel-european-tour-recording-new-album-with-former-girls-member-123434
FFS
Can't bands stick to their touring commitments? Morons
does anyone know
if you can transfer tickets?
mate of mines not going and another wants the ticket, cheers.
Yeah should be fine, I've done it in the past
E-mail should be on the primavera website somewhere.. tickets@primaverasound.com is who I contacted but wouldn't if that address has since changed
*know
much appreciated
hey guys, can anyone remember roughly what time it finishes each night?
i'm probs going for a saturday day ticket, and considering not booking any accommodation for sat night and just going straight to the train station for a 7:30am train back home (6 hours away in san sebastian). i have in my head that the bands/djs will finish at like 6am or so, is that right? is this a smart money-saving move or a really fucking stupid idea?
about 5am-6 i think
dont bother with accommodation
thing is i also have a choice of getting an early afternoon train, which is a bit more expensive
but i feel like a 6-hour train hungover and sleep-deprived is going to be just as bad as a 6-hour train at 7am after no sleep, so might as well save the money, right?
I'd rather sleep on the train at 7am
Definite goes on past 6.
We left at 6ish on the Sunday morning last year, anyway.
It finishes earlier than I think it does but not much.
It's definitely still going on at 4. I think there's stuff still happening at 5 too but I'm not 100% certain on that. But generally there's people milling about and things happening a bit longer. Definitely the city's pretty much up and things are starting to happen by the time it finishes...
yeah that's what i thought, i remember getting the early-morning metro back to the hostel when i went a few years ago
there is, of course, the danger of crashing several hours too early, but if i'm only doing one day i want to get my money's worth and stay til the end even if it destroys me...
don't suppose anyone is looking for a roomie or has a sofa spare or summat?
apartment booking has fell through.
get on airBnB
still loads of places left.
times are now up on the site for Wednesday at the forum site
http://www.primaverasound.es/programacion#
that's a piss poor looking Wednesday at Parc del Forum
For Primavera standards, anyway
That's only the free pre-festival taster mind
The real programme starts Thursday. Think I'll give the Wednesday a miss this year
yeah I know
and now I've looked at it again the year I went wasn't that great except for Caribou either
Am I missing something here?
Delorean, John Talabot and Parquet Courts are all in that list.
Only Delorean at Parc del Forum
Which I now noticed you explicitly said in your comment
Thank you for not reveling in my idiocy
idiocy on my part as well
as the year I went there wasn't anything at all at parc del forum on the wednesday, it was at a little plaza place up near Montjuic
does your weekend ticket cover that?
and the tuesday show?
Good question
I had assumed so up until this point but that was based on nothing but a smug sense of entitlement.
i think weds did when i last went (2009)
not sure about tuesday
Wednesday yes, Tuesday I don't think so but not sure
don't even know why I'm looking at this
just making me annoyed I can't go
weekend tickets let you in to Monday and Tuesday at sala apollo.
it's actually better to go even just to get your wristband as the queues on Wednesday and Thursday can be crazy.
As a Primavera virgin
Tips like these are dynamite. Thanks svenrokk!
oh mint
its my 25th birthday on the wednesday, so feel free to buy me vodka everyone.
will do
The Wednesday is free for anyone who wants to go, regardless of whether they have tickets or not. Last year this was held fairly centrally at Arc dr Triomf(?), bug my guess is that was quite costly in terms of clearing up. Good though, as was the previous year at Montjuic. Three days at the Forum is enough for me
Anyone know if there's acts left to be announced?
Could use a few more late night DJs/electronic artists.
me mate has a ticket. anyone looking for one?
So my friend who I bought a ticket for
Arrives on the Wednesday night and I arrive on the Thursday.obviously she wants to go to the Wednesday night shows.does she need me with her to get her wristband as I booked it on my card?
The Wednesday night is free and open to all anyway, so she won't need a wristband until the Thursday night
I didn't go last year,
but you definitely needed a wristband to get in to the Wednesday stuff two years ago. in fact, there were massive queues to get in and exchange tickets for wristbands.
Yeah, you definitely need a ticket/wristband to get in to the Wednesday
http://www.primaverasound.es/faq?lang=en#
i'm pretty sure that wednesday stuff at the forum is free
while wednesday stuff at the apolo you need a ticket for
I'm going to be getting to Porto on the Sunday night
but our accommodation is from Monday (when everyone else arrives) - does anyone have a sofa or something I can sleep on that Sunday night?
New festival site map
http://www.primaverasound.es/ps-single/download/prensa/psb/2013/material/Mapa_A4.pdf
where's the VIP area?
Thursday Line-up and times up too...
http://www.primaverasound.es/programacion
This literally happened whilst I looked at it - other days and times might be about to go up too...
That's tomorrow's farting about in the office sorted - Primavera clash spreadsheet!
why not just use clashfinder general?
...oh yeah, because then you can productively waste your day.
Some big clashes for me already, and that's only the slot around 7.30! Forget how punishing the schedule looks until I see it in black and white. That said, I am getting on a bit.
I'm quite glad I'm not arsed about Animal Collective
I'm sure I'll be out 'til 5am a couple of days but on the first day'd be a bit of a killer...
bar dino/dmst im fine
Not going this year
but the move of the ATP stage is a massive massive kick in the teeth for future years. Always had probably the best atmosphere of any festival stage anywhere - was a really good size to get nice and full. And the steps meant that you could sit and watch bands without being miles away.
Hope it moves back before I go next.
I can see why they want another stage nearer to that stage on the far side
but it does seem strange they've chosen to move that one - it's a great location.
Personally I'd rather they moved the Vice one into that area (or even where ATP used to be) and move the Pitchfork back to how it was the year before last...
oomph, thursday looks good.
first time for me, so don't know if this is possible by distance, but gonna try getting to...
17:50 el inquilino comunista
18:40 poolside
19:30 neko case
20:40 tame impala
21:40 do make say think
23:35 killer mike
00:30 menomena
01:25 death grips
02:30 hot snakes
03:30 toundra
haven't factored in time/distance between stages as it's my first time and I dont wanna already go in with a negative "WHY DID THEY MOVE BLAH BLAH" mentality
I will say the clashes between 10.30 and 1.30 are brutal but that's to be expected on such a stacked bill. after one peruse my preference is:
Wild Nothing / Woods >> Tame Impala >> Dino Jr >> Deerhunter >> Fuck Buttons >> second half of Fucked Up >> probably Animal Collective to wrap up and if they're balls then Jackmaster doing his 80s pop/disco classics set >> (John Talabot maybe but I'll probably see him on Wed or this weekend at Pleasure Principle)
really looking forward to seeing Wild Nothing
its all about Do Make Say Think on Thurs for me though. probably Jackmeister over Animal Collective as they're always rubbish live.
listening to Burrito Hz now for the first time in ages
remembering hearing that Jack closed his Tweak-A-Holic special in London with 'This Must Be The Place (Naïve Melody)' after banging out about half a dozen Whitney tracks in a very short space of time
...welp
Something weird:
The map says the Heineken stage is where that far stage was last year and the Primavera stage is where the main stage usually is
But the bands I thought were headling are on the Heineken stage.
Have they moved the main stage or fucked up their stage names or have I fucked up and are Animal Collective headlining rather than Phoenix?
Yes
I can't get my head around this at all.
Heineken is now the main stage
which, again, is a bit of a shame, as the old Estrella Damm is a good main stage. That said, it was a bit silly last year when the Llevant was drawing massive crowds and not the main stage. They're pretty similar in terms of calibre of bands anyway - Primavera has TWO main stages!
It's a fucking
MASSIVE walk though innit?
Nice map!
What is the "Estacion"? station for something? It looks like a ferry but that would just be crazy.
It's just some promo for Mini. A very limited capacity shuttle over to the area the locals have named Mordor
No auditori performances for the Thursday?
Also those map changes look pretty pointless. Fair enough moving the main stage (could be something to do with this year being a sell out idk) but it seems illogical to move the ATP stage closer to it and away from the steps. Minor gripe though.
friday timetable
is up.
On first inspection, cant see many bad clashes for me on Friday
Grizzly Bear/Fuck Buttons/Menomena is pretty brutal on Thursday though.
Awesome - Solange or Breeders on at the same time as Shellac.
I was hoping there'd be some good options when they were playing.
Ooh! Or Daniel Johnston.
I'll watch Daniel Johnston then.
Swans outside at 8pm :(
That's okay.
They were awesome on the Ray-Ban two years back.
are you allowed in and out of the festival site?
Yes
Not allowed in
Just saw that Ghostigital are playing.
That's Einer from The Sugarcubes' band.
I wish I knew the scale of the place
First time going and I've drawn up a rough timetable of who I want to see on the Thursday and Friday, really hoping it's gonna work out in relation to stage positions and stuff.
This is a pretty stupid question but how long does it take to get from one end of the site to the other? DEPENDS HOW FAST YOU WALK and other funnies aside, just to give me a general idea. This is what I was thinking for the Thursday.
1830 Wild Nothing
1915 Woods
2040 Tame Impala
2150 Dinosaur Jr
2255 Deerhunter
0010 Grizzly Bear (Really sad about the Menomena/Fuck Buttons/Grizzly Bear clash going on here)
0055 Fucked Up
0140 Phoenix
0225 Four Tet
0305 Animal Collective
0410 John Talabot
It's a bit of a trek to the Heineken stage, so presumably the new location of the ATP stage too. The rest is all quite compact really. When I say bit of a trek, you're probably still only talking 15 minutes or so. Bare in mind it's all concrete mind, and it does get a bit tiresome trekking back and forth to Mordor all night. Not relevant on the Thursday, but queuing to get into the Auditorium can be time consuming too for popular shows. It's quite a plush all seated concert hall
It is kind of funny, all these numerous posts speculating how long
it'll take to get each stage, how long sets will be, etc., when it really comes down to how you're feeling at that particular time, if your friend wants to see something else, etc.
Not that I'm slating it, I've indulged in this excitement instead- but still it really doesn't matter
alright Wyclef Jean ft The Rock
Evans The Death are playing Wednesday :)))))
Really?
Would be great if so, where'd you find that out?
band's mailout. just checked and its on their FB too, so presume its not a secret.
I'd
like to know porto times...
Somewhat excited about going for the first time! Popped together a Primavera playlist
http://open.spotify.com/user/seaninsound/playlist/7ioVVaXAYZpEdUeOedDoAs
I made one too!
http://drownedinsound.com/community/boards/music/4357384#r7448590
http://open.spotify.com/user/ma0sm/playlist/4KLb2bjgN0UUtU4xoqF7n8
Five of the most accessible tracks from each artist so you get a good span if you chuck it on shuffle and can go in more depth if you like what you hear.
bar recommendations in Barcelona anyone?
Only second time going and looking for nice places to drink on Wed, Sun and Mon. Already been told to visit Fantastico, Antic Teatre and Borneo.
Can Paixano
Bar Marsella
Milk (good happy hour)
RIP Sala Apolo :(
*by RIP Sala Apolo I mean
it's sad the bar on the side of Sala Apolo no longer has pour yr own beer taps on the tables :(
we got chased out of that place in 2011
one of our party was not in the habit of paying for a "greek salad" that was 4 slices of tomato with a cube of feta cheese on top of each. Words were exchanged. In different languages.
can paixano is a must
then just wander around and find anywhere.
all days up
http://www.primaverasound.es/horarios?f=&d=1&l=forum
Dan Deacon v Wu-Tang Clan
That is a horrible clash.
omar souleyman at 3am
ACE
agreed re: wu v dan and scuba v mbv sucks too but #realtalk
Wu > Nick Cave > Liars > MBV > Omar Souleyman > Hot Chip > DJ Koze is absolutely stellar. plus Pantha du Prince early doors!
im totally following you around
cba to find a link to Bad Boys 4 Life
but yeah, that
3:50am Hot Chip,
then sleep, then 15:10 flight home.
I would strongly advise DJ Koze if you have any energy left at all
unlikely tbf
Yeah, thats the best run of the whole lot for me
Might swap Wu for Thee Oh Sees mind.
so now Blur and Swans clash :(
:(
I'm gutted by that but definitely gonna be Blur - I've seen Swans twice and Gira solo once and never seen Blur so it's no contest.
the revised times are really annoying
fuck buttons vs four tet
animal collective vs jackmaster (still- if you're gonna screw me every other way at least fix this)
swans vs. blur
wu tang vs thee oh sees
gah
ugggh
some horrible clashes. going to have to do some half-sets here and there.
also not actually much on the sunday that i'm desperate to see.
would there have been any way for there to have not been bad clashes?
such a good line-up. i don't think the crossover between Blur and Swans would be that great overall.
They were pretty high on my list!
Overall I'm happy how it's panned out - particularly that it's only Saturday that (in the best way possible) there's a long run of stuff I'm absolutely desperate to watch whereas Friday there's a few things and Thursday not that much at all.
I don't mean that as a complaint - I actually quite like the fact the first day I can wander about seeing some things I've not heard before and don't know too much about without feeling stressed about what time things start or what I'm missing out on...
yeah i get you
theres like a three hour gap between Wild Nothing & Do Make Say Think. good for boozing though.
The thought of
Blur and Swans clashing at Porto FILLS me with dread. Two of the only bands I'm really fussed about.
I think
two main stages are Porto alternate so no 2 bands are on at the same time so won't be a problem I imagine.
HOORAAAYY.
Correct
Optimus and Super Bock stages alternate. Bands playing on the ATP and Pitchfork stages will clash with other stages.
I will never learn to cope with clashes.
Bar Marsella
has closed down :(
Fuck.
I wish I could say I have fond memories of that place, but in reality I barely remember my singular visit :(
It's the absinthe bar, right?
Shame! But yeah I don't remember a THING. went there on ther first night, woke up with no iphone (i'd had it about a month) and a remarkable sense of despair
It is.
I remember... going in? I had an absinthe. I think I had another one. And then another one after that. It's very fuzzy. Couldn't tell you what the place looked like inside.
The next day was a really fun place to be, I can tell you that.
was that where I went with you?
it was.
great place
i think
can't be sure, can we?
only the photos
help me piece together parts of that night
this is where we had an absinthe drinking contest with the Flaming Lips two years ago
gutted it's shut down, that place was amazing
Where's the best place to get falafel?
erm MAOZ
But is it REALLY as good as people say?!?!?
The falafel is pretty good and generous, yeah
but then you get to do all the sides and sauces yourself and just go to TOWN on that fucker, and there's a really good range to choose from / eat it ALL. I've made myself quite ill a few times from this.
Any other rad/cheap eateries I should visit?
tell nwts about the burger places plasticniki
OMG
Kiosko Burger: http://www.kioskoburger.com/
Ummmm, Can Paixano during the day for sandwiches and cava.
Other than that, have a menu del dia every day. But don't go to the place next to Milk bar which offers one. Hilariously bad experience I had, there.
Cheers!
Definitely checking out that burger place!
closed innit?
around ramblas there's a few places.
the ones just off it, down carrer nou de rambla are very cheap.
best i've had is maybe 50 cents more, on your right down carrer bonsucces. massive serving and tasty.
cheers
i love some festival falafel
This is going to be fucking class!
Have only just started getting excited for some reason!!
been to barcelona a bunch of times but never been able to find good sushi
anyone know any places?
you're in barca mate, eat some tapas
you can get tapas in barcelona? oh fuck, had i known that i wouldn't have asked about sushi.
not sushi but go to Mosquito for Chinese tapas
and ales. Strange mix but it's amazing
what should I (as in specifically me) do when I'm in Barcelona?
meet me for a beers :)
oh for sure, i do like boozing, as well you know.
I'm gutted that Absinthe bar is closed, Absinthe is my favourite boozing
go to Can Paixano one afternoon.
Huge bottles of cava for 4 euro, sandiwiches for 3. Job done.
Afterwards buy some cans and go and sit looking at the sea.
and I say one afternoon,
but I mean every afternoon.
if youve got time
and like walking take a day trip to montserrat.
Park Güells ok, but a bit busy
cool, I'll look into both, although we might be a bbit pushed timewise for any trips out of town
This is my itinerary for the week, if anyone cares (I'm going alone):
Tuesday:
Arrive in the afternoon
Check into Hotel Princess
Plunder minibar
Go into town and Sala Apolo to see Godflesh and Bo Ningen
Wednesday:
Tour of the Nou Camp & museum
Check out Las Ramblas and eat nice food
See John Talabot at Sala Apolo
Thursday:
Use gym, sauna, and pool in hotel
Festival begins
Friday:
Use gym, sauna, and pool in hotel
Festival continues
Saturday:
Use gym, sauna, and pool in hotel
Festival finishes
Sunday:
Sleep
Go home
id sack las ramblas off
and get yer sen to Can Paixano or kiosko burger.
We consciously took into account the location of Can Paixano when booking our apartment this year. We're about a minute's walk away.
I did this last year.
I had a reservation at the Princess, booked several months ago, but switched to the Hilton a couple of weeks back as it's similar standard, not much further, and almost half the cost! You will get to rub shoulders with the bands in the Princess I guess, but at a price
some bands use the hilton too
The Primavera people obviously block book the Princess and Zero Diagonal though. Even several months in advance prices go up something like 300% for that weekend, if you can find a room at all. It is great just being able to wander over the road at the end of the night mind, and you get to chill out for a bit around the pool in the day
Las Rambles is the shittest supposedly must-see Tourist Attraction on Earth.
Go to Montajuic (not checked the spelling, probably wrong) and up on the cable cars instead.
omg excited
only doing saturday so gotta make it count. there is a period from about 8:30 to 10 where i don't know any of the bands particularly well so any advice on who is likely to be the most awesome live so i can invest some listening time (dexys/bored spies/mac demarco/dead can dance/band of horses/roll the dice)?
if they're your choices then go see dead can dance
Mac DeMarco or Dead Can Dance,
but yep, DCD are an absolute spectacle.
I'm going to see Dexys but I probably wouldn't recommend it if you're not a massive fan
simply 'cos of the time it takes queuing, waiting and hanging around to go to the Auditori. It's a really nice venue but I'm only going in there for things I really, really want to see (Dexys and Daniel Johnston)
yeah
for auditori i'm thinking pantha du prince probably won't be too bad queue-wise as it's early on, and undecided whether it's worth it for apparat
and dead can dance is nice and close to dan deacon/wu-tang
thx guys
pantha du prince + bells
is a must. for everyone in this thread. go see pantha du prince + bells.
Maybe I will, nwts.
Maybe I will.
bells, mate. bells.
i was listening to that earlier. will it be a full bell show?
it's on the lineup as Pantha Du Prince + Bell Laboratory
so I'm assuming so! I bloody hope so anyway.
I'm not sure between Dexy's and Dead Can Dance now. Another dilemma
Roll the dice are fucking great live
Light not be to everyone's taste though

Does anyone want a pair of Porto tickets at the earlybird prices?
£140 for the pair. Current RRP is €125 each.
btw if anyone is going to porto and hasn't got accomodation sorted yet
i can highly recommend hostels porto spot and tattva. comfiest hostel beds imaginable
thank you!
I arrive a day before everyone else does so need accommodation for one night, these will do nicely!
you're welcome!
porto spot is prettier inside, it's really nicely decorated and cosy and feels like a nice hotel, but tattva is a bit more central i think and also they have orthopaedic mattresses and individual curtains round the beds. i seriously want to go back to portugal just for the fact that it has all the best hostels i've ever been to (and they were all really cheap)
gone for the latter
as I couldn't see where Spot was, not that I know where anywhere is but the 'central location' did it for me. They do free walking tours as well, so if my friends don't arrive until later on the monday I might go on one and get to know the place.
still need to book barca accom..
booked
Good self motivation there!
where you at dawg?
cant remember name, somewhere 5 minutes off la ramblas
single room, shared bathroom. very basic and clean, get breakfast with it which i didnt realise until after i booked it
primavera things
this will be my 4th consecutive year and it's the only one so far that coincides with the end of the football season so finally get to see fc barcelona play at the nous camp. i'm very excited indeed. i think people looking for specific places to go - bars, restaurants etc just shouldn't stress it - wander about and take it all in and you'll inevitably come across a ton of places you'll fall in love with. primavera's definitely the best festival i've ever been to and barcelona is an amazing city. i can't imagine a time when i won't be going back there...in short, very excited indeed.
*nou camp
idiot.
I'm thinking about going to that game as well, now I know it's the 9pm Sunday slot. I don't arrive in Barcelona until around 4pm on the Sunday afternoon.
Going to the footy too
It almost cost as much for the match ticket as Primavera, but it'll be a great experience. After tonight's match I'm thankful the tickets I got are in the covered section!
is anyone up for a kickabout, before the festival?
looking forward to the valladolid game. should be their first one at home after winning the title, or they'll win the title on the day.
going the basketball that weekend, too. enjoyed it last year.
link me to
the basketball?
here...
http://www.fcbarcelona.com/basketball/calender
go to the bottom, against unicaja and click on start purchasing. got a ticket on the left hand side of the map, that looked like the craziest fans last year. only 19 euros. hoping to get a playoff game too, if they start before the festival.
arena is the blaugrana, next to the nou camp.
doesn't look like the link works,
just go the fc barcelona site and click on sections, then basketball. the game could be on the saturday or sunday. can't see them doing it the same time as the footy.
My friend has a full weekend ticket for Barcelona for sale
If anyone's needing one?
sold this now!
so excited
Wu-Tang Clan and Dan Deacon don't clash now!!!!!!
Dan Deacon and Antonia Font switched places. Also some DJs got added to the Apolo shows.
This is fantastic news!
it is
except that now dan deacon and nick cave clash instead. wah.
Could do with a few more acts added to the Porto line up-
looking at last fm, last year had 11 or so more acts.
the
stage times would be good as well
Already up.
http://www.primaverasound.es/programacion
Oh wait...
Realised my mistake.
Anyone got advice on travelling to Reus airport?
I'm catching a plane there, but it seems 60km+ away from Barcelona...
ta
yes, its ages away
theres a bus that costs about 20euro (each way) to barcelona centre, its easily signposted and doesnt need to be booked in advance
is that Girona or Reus? Isn't Girona the far away one?
I've always took the bus into Barca, and really don't mind it- in fact it's quite nice driving through the countryside listening to the music you're gonna be hearing at the festival.
Sadly unable to make this..
So can sell a full weekend ticket for under face value to anyone who'd like one! PM me
How easy is it to walk
back right along the seafront after the festival? I'm staying by Born/Barceloneta and the map looks like we could just do a pretty straight walk back and cut up (even though it'll take a while). Is it better/safer doing that or going right through town?
its very safe
pretty quiet once you get away from the site.
Anyone want to recommend a cool drinking joint that's central?
I need to wait later on for my friends to arrive on the Wednesday so I won't be able to see Delorean and I'm bored of going to the big tourist trap square just off La Ramblas out of convenience.
best bet is having a walk and finding somewhere
gothic quarter is nice.
cat bar cat is good and near jaume subway stop
Cheers, I usually go around the gothic quarter, but can't get my mates to go anywhere they don't know.
Good to get a name of a bar to go to.
Couple of questions
The Auditori is the stage you have to queue for right? Is it just your festival pass that gets you in there? I remember seeing up thread someone talking about the "big ticketed show". I really, really want to see Daniel Johnston in there, just curious as to how long I would need to queue for and such like.
Also, the gigs on the Tuesday/Wednesday/Sunday, you can get into all of them with your festival pass or are they seperate events? Gonna go to the Veronica Falls and Deerhunter ones I think. And am I right in saying that these don't even take place within the Parc?
Q1) some shows in the auditori you need to get a seperate ticket for, for 1 euro or someting, they go on sale on the day of the show. even with the ticket you then queue outside the auditori to get in as the seating is unreserved.
2)you're right, they take place in other parks and a club/venue closer to the centre of barca.
I have questions and couldn't see the answers on the website. Might be on my ticket but not looked.
a) Is the wristband exchange the same places as last year?
b) Can you book auditori tickets in advance?
c) How is everyone?
Shit's getting real now. Booking my Gatwick Express and Camp Nou Experience tickets...
a) dunno
b) no, day of the show only.
c) alright cheers. you ok?
a) ah well. Cheers anyway!
b) I meant "in advance on day of the show", if that makes sense? I.e. can I rock up at 4pm and get tickets then go about my business and turn up for the show start or do I queue individually each time.
c) Not bad. Bit tired.
b) then yeah, think its early on.. bout 12 or something they go on sale. from a portacabin just near the auditori
Ace. Cheers!
last year
it was only jeff mangum that was ticketed. was a case of just rocking up for michael gira etc.
countdown til people get to barcelona?
8 DAI!
5
Going on Saturday!!!
obvs in reply to Jordan_229_2
weather forecast is looking like fun.
RAIN.
Seems to vary from site to site
All the 14 day ones I've seen says that the actual festival is getting sun. Still a bit early to actually have a proper idea though isn't it?
IT BETTER BE SUNNY
OR I'M GONNA START LUMPING SEVEN SHADES OF SHIT OUT OF SOME CLOUDS
Starting to get really excited.
oh are you going with DOTS?
Yes I am.
Care in the community, innit.
I got a free ticket for it!
You laugh but you won't when I've fallen asleep somewhere in the site
with the only set of keys and you have to actually provide care for me in the community by finding me.
Ticket Collection Details
The collection of full festival tickets and exchange for bracelets and access cards will be possible at the Parc del Fòrum from Monday 20th until Saturday 25th May.
We recommend going to make the collection and exchange of tickets on the 20th, 21st and 22nd May to avoid queues during the main days of the event.
It will NOT be possible to exchange tickets at the Sala Apolo.
IMPORTANT: It will only be possible to exchange or collect or exchange the day tickets for bracelets and access cards on the day concerned.
Collection and exchange timetable:
Monday 20th: from 4 pm to 8 pm
Tuesday 21st: from Midday to 8 pm
Wednesday 22nd: from Midday to 11 pm
Thursday 23rd, Friday 24th and Saturday 25th: from Midday to 2.30 am
To get into the Primavera als Clubs showcases on Monday 20th, Tuesday 21st and Wednesday 22nd at the Apolo and La [2] de Apolo it is NOT necessary to have exchanged your ticket for the bracelet and festival access card beforehand, you only have to show the full festival ticket or print at home. However, we recommend exchanging your tickets before the concerts to facilitate access to the venues.
Access to the Primavera als Clubs programme is subject to capacity of the venue and only full festival ticket holders will be admitted.
Porto times now up on the site
Quite a few more clashes than I thought there would be on the Friday and Saturday
That Glass Candy + Julio Bashmore double bill at 3am will be sweeeeeet
Some of those Porto clashes are pretty antagonising
Re: weather
Barcelona always seems pretty changeable anyway. I remember when I visited the other year it went from boiling sun to pissing down storm in 20 seconds and back again.
I've got everything crossed, though.
Same here..
Just checked and it makes grizzly reading.
Secret show
Secret show at Sala Apolo
On Wednesday 22nd May there will be a surprise concert at the Apolo of Barcelona by a band whose identity will only be revealed to the audience at 10 pm when the concert starts. To get into this secret show it is not necessary to bring the PrimaveraPro accreditation but to make a reservation through the Primavera Sound Portal. The maximum number of these reservations made through the Primavera Sound Portal is set at 500 (registration required).
hmmmm
this will clash with delorean. wonder who it is
How bad do the queues tend to get to the build up shows?
I've registered for tickets for the secret show and hadn't noticed the portal before. I've not got a VIP ticket and it seems if you do you can register for tickets for these in advance whereas if you don't, I'm guessing you just need to queue?
cheers for the heads up.
booked.
Are these all gone now?
Can't find the correct bit :[
Can't see it there anymore
:(
Oh
is this only for VIP ticket people? I don't have a portal login.
I haven't got VIP
Registered with the Portal and signed up for the non-portal option. Used my confirmation code for the ID number which was a mandatory field, rightly or wrongly.
Booked through no problems then.
Weird
I can only get the VIP reservation options.
Think they must have gone already
I can only see VIPs too.
i can't even see VIP tickets for wednesday anymore :(
reserved my ticket for deerhunter on sunday though :D
How busy are the Apolo shows?
Really wanna see John Talabot. Reckon if I turn up about midnight it'll be full?
yes
it gets full
What time would you suggest arriving to get in okay?
If you don't have a VIP ticket?
ive got no idea
I was pissed when I arrived.
it waas dark.. thats all Ive got man.. sorry.
Let me write this down
Get smashed...
Turn up whenever...
Not notice queues...
Got it! Thanks!
on the wednesday last year
the queues were bloody massive at around 11pm and I didn't get in. I think on the Sunday night I went at about 9/10ish and got in with few problems.
listened to Local Business when I got up and now just Shaking The Habitual
reckon I'm gonna be a dick by seeing the start of Knife, go rock out to Titus and nip back for Silent Shout
i'm gonna watch the knifey
as i'm not technically paying JUST for their set i feel a lot better about it.
I'm gonna watch The Knife because i can't wait to dance around to their songs again
BECAUSE I'M AWESOME!
so Im needing to buy a ticket stupidly late
someone told me I'll need the buyers passport photocopied or something? I didnt realise they had a Glastonbury type deeley going. Is this bollocks?
its bollocks
you can email them and theyll change the name or something
do you still need an actual tik? know someone sellin un
Have a ticket for you
well below face value if you still need one..
Can you upgrade a regular ticket to a VIP ticket?
Anyone know?
nah
the vip sell out dont they..?
...yep
might just have to live with going as a regular punter.
gutted
The weather forecasts are all so fucking random
and all over the place. aaaargh. Hopefully nearer the time it'll just say 'SUN'
really? i've got 15 degrees and rain EVERYDAY :(
Being a coastal town
the forecast is bound to fluctuate over the next week. Probably only worth checking a couple of days before the festival. Mates who have been before said they saw a similar forecast before the festival and it completely changed once they were there so fingers crossed.
My Spanish mates said not to worry
Look at this then. Dont look at Friday
http://www.accuweather.com/en/es/barcelona/307297/daily-weather-forecast/307297?day=10
i dont trust the source
But its accuweather
Thats like accurate and weather rolled into one word. accurate weather. Definitely trustworthy.
as long as...
it's only raining in the afternoon and it's clear from 8-9 onwards, i'm happy. Got a long day to go.
messi not playing vs v
rain every day, i'm broke and shellac seem to be clashing with breeders.
this will STILL be absolutely brilliant.
Hopefully Messi
will still be there to pick up his medal.
So, Real Valladolid...
Checked into our hotel earlier and after a short kip went down for meal. When the lift doors opened who should be checking in but FCB's opponents for tomorrow. Vincci Bit for any autograph hunters.
Bloody hell thought people would have learned after years of nonsense tabloid weather stories about next summer being the coldest ever, or the warmest ever etc. It is almost impossible to accurately predict weather more than 5 days ahead. No serious meteorologist does with certainty. Only basic trends can be seen, and that can fluctuate rapidly due to high level winds, jet streams, pressure systems etc. That's not to say it wont be wet, but it can't be seen this far ahead. If on the Tues/Wed before it shows rain then it's much more likely.
shut up
Learn not to blindly believe everything then and start whinging
WAKE UP SHEEPLE!
Confused about the Wednesday Apolo shows now
Really want to see John Talabot and the other acts at the Apolo on Wednesday night but will I be able to do this without an RSVP to the secret act who are playing there? Not bothered about the secret act but would like to see the other acts who are playing there on the Weds.
I have some questions.
Are they still doing those ridiculous portal cards things to buy beer with? Will there be any cash bars?
Where are all the stages for stuff on Wednesday/Thursday?
On the program by day, if it says a band is playing 01:00 Wednesday does that really mean 01:00 Wednesday or 01:00 Thursday? E.g. Veronica Falls:
http://www.primaverasound.es/programacion?lang=en
Cheers.
cash bars i read
it tells you what stages things are on.
Wednesday 01:00 actually means Thursday.
Ace, ta.
Actually.
For b) I meant whereabouts are the stages located? They're not in the festival site, are they?
ray-ban is yes. and smint is also on site i believe. the sala apolo is a couple miles away, easily google-able
i'm just going ray-ban though i think on weds. sala apolo is limited capacity
Oh, okay.
I'm sure last time I went there was somewhere off-site outdoors that had loads of stuff on. Couldn't get in as it was too busy and it was too late.
last year was the arc de triumph or something
and another park with two stages
cant remember what that was called, bit hungover for that one :/
I last went two years ago.
Can't really remember much but it was near a park and that big building up the stairs. You know it, right?
they changed the park last year I think
its closer to gothic quarter from what I remember
Oh right.
There was also a quiet little park with bamboo sculptures in where I saw Bradford Cox (I think). That was nice.
My memory is fucking terrible.
My memory is fucking terrible.
^This
(I blame the sun)
was cash bar last year
it'll be thursday at 1am but part of the line up that started on wednesday.
so if you had a friday day ticket.. youd still get 00:00-06:00 of Saturday
Are you going, matt_was_taken?
not this year
i'm heading to barcelona
tonight. if anyone wants to meet up for an estrella or wants to tell me of a band i abso-bastar-lutely have to see then please message me.
wild nothing first off on thursday
then evans the death an hour or so later. forget after that.
definitely
seeing wild nothing..will catch the last bit of evans after degreaser on atp stage..thanks.
Does anyone know anyone who lives in Barcelona?
i live in Barcelona
.
The BBC/Met office are currently predicting
a hailstorm for Friday and thunder storms all next week.
FFS
D: D: D:
I want to punch my face in
every time I check the weather forecast. So depressing. I just hope it swings around to 'nice' by next week.
OK PEOPLE
So, some bands I don't know so well but get the feeling might be kick ass, anyone got suggestions on where to start with the following bands:
Fucked Up
The Drones (I already started with Gala Mill and I'm really enjoying it, where to next?)
Hot Snakes (I've listened to Suicide Involved a few times, it's ok, could be fun live)
Meat Puppets
Titus Andronicus
Thanks babes xx
Hey sugar
Fucked Up - Either David Comes To Life or The Chemistry of Common Life, take your pick. Both albums start incredibly strong too, so if it isn't your thing by track 3, then it's not gonna get any more your thing as it carries on.
The Drones - I've only listened to I See Seaweed and REALLY like that, so listen to that next.
Hot Snakes - They've only got three albums so take your pick as to what to listen to there. I've listened to Suicide Invoice the most, maybe listen to Thunder Down Under, a studio radio live recording, and see which tracks you like the most.
Meat Puppets - Only ever listened to the tracks Nirvana covered for Unplugged, so I'm no use here.
Titus Andronicus - The Monitor. The way that album begins is incredible, so once again if that doesn't hook you in, it might not be for you. The Airing of Grievances after that, and their latest, Local Business, is definitely the worst.
You are my favourite
xx
fuck
Rudimentary Primavera stage times spreadsheet
http://pleasurebridles.com/primavera/Primavera_Stagetimes.xls
I've sorted the lists by the time column (rather than by Primavera's own A-Z band sort) which is quick but pretty indicative.
Looking at it I don't think there'll be too many arguments.
The worst clash I've noticed so far (considering only my own tastes rather than my group's) is
Nurse With Wound (ATP 02:05), The Drones (Vice, 02:05) and My Bloody Valentine (Heineken, 02:25)
http://clashfinder.com/s/ps2013pre/
And the actual clashfinder usefulness, which makes the xls redundant.
I've got this horrible feeling we're not supposed to post links on this, though - is that the case? Even useful ones like this?
You've got yourself in a right muddle here, pal.
Yes, you can post links on DiS, nothing works particularly well but you'll find you can click 'em if they're not posted in the subject.
That's the 'predictions' clashfinder, and by 'print' it says 'don't even think about it'. From the looks of it they've revised it for the announcement, but I wouldn't risk the tears if it's wrong. The rain wont hide them.
Here:
http://clashfinder.com/s/primavera2013/
The one upside to the weather (according to the BBC at least)
is Thursday's the only day when they're actually predicting rain during the night. So the gigs themselves should be pretty much fine - just the general Barcelona stuff that's going to get a bit buggered.
Shhhhh
we don't know that yet. I'm trying to stay positive. All the Barcelonians (?) I've spoken to say the weather forecast is totally useless until about a day or so beforehand anyway because of the terrain and location of it.
http://drownedinsound.com/community/boards/music/4357384#r7504642
the forecast for Barcelona..
for anything over 3 or 4 days is almost always pessimistic, so can never be trusted too much.
I live here and use this site for weather http://www.eltiempo.es/barcelona.html
No matter what time of the year it nearly always says it will rain on days 10-14. I've been checking for the last week and the forecast for the festival days and it has been improving a lot everyday so hopefully it will continue to as we approach the start of the festival.
It currently says that it's gonna rain from now until 20:00 today but I'm looking out of my window and see clear blue skies. not even a cloud.
Not saying it won't rain or have a bit of non-perfect weather for the festival, as it's been pretty patchy the last couple of weeks) but have faith and don't get too worried about weather predictions for over 3 days away.
Rodriguez cancelled.
Gutted.
Rodriguez has cancelled
http://www.primaverasound.es/noticiaSingle?id=1168&lang=en
Gutted
Rodriguez has cancelled.
not fussed.
Rodriguez has cancelled.
Don't actually know who he is.
Googled him.
Meant to watch that film but haven't yet.
Mildly disappointed but kind of glad I'd not got round to listening to him yet so I'm not disappointed.
Good filum
Saw him at Green Man though, and thought it was pretty dull. I just thought he was some old lad from t'seventies at that point though, and knowing the context would definitely have made it more engaging. Got a South African chap in our group who'll be gutted though unfortunately.
Hope they move a biggish name who's clashing elsewhere to that slot.
Close!
"At the Barcelona edition the recently reformed band Chucho, fronted by Fernando Alfaro, will substitute the American singer songwriter on Saturday 25th May in the Parc del Fòrum."
Shit
Too late to say I'm gutted about Rodriguez?
just heard Rodriguez has cancelled
anyone hear about this?
Yeah
On the Primavera Twitter feed :(
*runs in breathlessly*
Guys have you heard Rodriguez has cancelled.
Don't wanna be the bearer of bad news.
But I'm hearing rumours that Rodriguez has been offered more money to play Le Tournoi opening ceremony, so has cancelled his appearance at Primavera.
Any talk of DiS beers? If not we should talk about DiS beers.
Also I'm hearing some worrying things about Rodriguez, obviously I'm waiting for my sources to confirm before I drop the bomb shell.
If people can do weds daytime?
Too much happening thurs-sat to specifically plan a boozing I think but I have dots number and the like
Parquet Courts and Talabot that night too.
*evans the death and delorean
but yeah im writing off thurs, fri, sat daytime.
could do weds about 3-4ish? couple beers then dinner? OLE!
Are you coming on to me pal?
;-)
reckon i´d be up for weds,
will try to have another look at this thread befiore then.
yeah, he's cancelled for sure
(because I am your sources)
Never listened to him so I feel vindicated now.

whats one band you can't wait to see? gotta be Rodriquez for me
He's cancelled, doing a gig in Barcelona in July instead.
Really?

The old Jordan dry wit, coming out there.
Made a playlist of recommended festival listening
http://open.spotify.com/album/4s7qz6sSmn1gzphGM9P5dK
I've just check the BBC weather forecast and they seem to think that it was going to snow, but no it's looking more like flash Rodriguez cancelling storms all weekend.
Just heard Rodriguez cancelled after checking the weather reports.
ah! here it is
weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
can anybody please tell me...
where the la [2] de apolo venue and also the sans apolo in relation to the main site i'm beaking my cherry this year so bit clueless wouldn't mind seeing parquet courts and/or john talabot
and can you go to see these with just a regualr weekend ticket i've seen something about a scret gig but can't quite get my head round it
ta in advance
la (2) is a club sized room that is in the Sala Apolo building
and it's no where near the main site. You can get in with the regular weekend ticket (but queue early if you want to get in)
the parquet courts thing is on a different night to the actual festival.
omg yeh lets all but Jordan brandy on weds and go for Argentinian steak
Yes

OK, well
weather is looking a bit more promising now. Still a bit of rain and the temperatures aren't amazing, but it's a bit better than it looked.
Fucking hammering it down yesterday
but just overcast today. Our apartment's a five minute walk away, so excited for Jupiter Lion tonight!
