Have Cable reformed?!
Hundred Reasons and Hell Is For Heroes are doing a couple of reunion shows and the band first on is listed as Cable. THE actual Cable?! I mean, I loved HR and HIFH when I was a kid, and would enjoy listening to them now but surely Cable are above this?!
http://hundredreasonsband.tumblr.com/post/25886543414/november-2012-shows
Bit of a weird one to reform for two shows as a first on at a show where I can't imagine there is a huge fanbase crossover, but yeah. Thoughts?

It looks like they are. Excellent news.
They have a very vague website set up: http://www.derbymiserablistscable.com/
I would hope Cable are headlining...
Best news ever
The Forum seems a bit ambitious for Hundred Reasons. Hope Cable do their own London show
https://twitter.com/razorcuts/status/217529585393344512
When I was a teenager I was a very big Hundred Reasons fan.
Apparently they were very close to getting Cable to reform years ago and open a couple of gigs but Hundred Reasons' label stopped it because they were worried it would over shadow Hundred Reasons. Would have been around the time of Hundred Reasons' second album.
Holy fucking shit.
Never thought this would actually happen.Unbelievable news. Still regularly listen to them.
I am definitely going to that Forum show
I really need to consider my life if I can't get to this.
THIS IS GOING TO BE THE GREATEST SHOW OF ALL TIME

ARGHHHHHHH WHY CAN'T I AFFORD THIS?
Great news
But they are going to need to play some shows without Hungry Raisins and Symposium.
I really hope they release something new.
Third ATP NBC weekend about to be announced
Curated by the Bellrays.
With Cable, Hundred Reasons, Glitterbox, Scarfo, Hell is for Heroes, The Glitterati, China Drum, CIV, Groop Dogdrill, Tom Hingley's The Lovers, Symposium playing their debut 7" in full, Wildhearts, Everclear. During the afternoon there will be guest lectures including Chris Evans talking about the history of TFI Friday and a debate with 3 Colours Red justifying why they were deemed big enough to headline the second tent at Reading Festival.
:D
No Kinesis?
:'(
Cable yes please
Cable wrote loads of damn fine tunes, sadly mostly ignored by the press at the time. I am actually going to have to get my arse down from Scotland to catch them as they were pretty special!
This is selling faster than I though
Banquet records just sold their 100 ticket allocation in 4 minutes
*thought
Four Manchester tickets ordered
FUCK YES!
Damn thought I'd missed out for a minute there!
ticketweb and kililive (that HR linked to) sold out when I tried, but luckily stargreen still have some!!
http://stargreen.co.uk/music/hundred-reasons--playing-ideas-above-our-station--hell-is-for-heroes--cable_hmv-forum_33251
wooooweee!
I got me 2 tickets. the killive site was showing sold out after 3 minutes! Didn't wanted seated tickets but managed to find standing tickets elsewhere
Bollocks, assumed I'd missed all the standing
And now I definitely have. Oh well.
I'm going to pay you back AND buy you all the beer
*ALL* the beer?
:D Going to be amazing!
they had 27 when i got mine
I can't wait for this.
Best dig out the wallet chains/criminal damage jeans. \m/
CAUSE I CAN TAKE A WORLD OF PAIN
IN MY STRIDE
AND I DON'T NEED FAIRY TALES TO PRETEND
<3
FUCK
I got dragged into a meeting and standing sold out :(
Gonna try and get some on scarletmist nearer the time
It'll be interesting to see the proportion of Cable fans
vs HR and HIFH fans. I think a lot will come out of the woodwork for this.
I just hope they finally get the adulation they deserve, see how badly they've been missed, how relevant they still are decide to continue!
Manchester back on sale.
Upgraded to Academy 1. Boo.
London
show getting moved to a bigger venue, says H/Reasons twitter
I hope they release more standing tickets in that case
Fingers crossed. Will probably be Brixton or Hammersmith I guess?
Hope for Brixton
Hate Hammersmith Apollo.
Where's the middle ground between Brixton and Forum- 3,000 capacity venue? There isn't one, is there?
Roundhouse?
that would be amazing!
FUCKING YES.
also anyone remember Floor? HR pre-Larry
roundhouse
good call. let's hope for that.
Saw Floor on the turn of the millenium. Mega NYE/New century party
Was also Kids Near Water's first gig. Think they were called Boxcar or something that night though.
I DON'T KNOW WHO CABLE ARE
or what we're yelling about
I was a big HR fan when they started out back in the day. The first time I saw them was supporting Idlewild at the Shepherd's Bush Empire.
Anyway, really hoping they'll also work Remmus into the mix as that's a favourite of mine.
Until this gig was announced I'd never heard of Cable. I downloaded their albums and love it. It's surprising how I actually haven't heard of these guys before.
Would be amazing if HR can manage to fill Brixton.
They announced a new date at The Coronet, which is an ace venue. Ticket on sale at http://www.coronettheatre.co.uk/events/hundred-reasons/.
Be quick.
YAS!
Got standing tickets, good stuff.
So....where to begin with Cable?
I've heard "of" Cable but not heard much by them....where to start as I didn't realise they were quite as prolific as Amazon UK suggests???
I just downloaded all three albums but I do seems to enjoy Sublingual the most at the moment.
Sublingual is great
But they were starting to get a bit repetitive with their talky verse big sningy chorus' by then, plus the lyrics got a bit shonky. Brothers and Sisters though, now that's a tune.
Take your pick. Never wrote a dud song, b-sides v.much included.
Sublingual was the most poppy.
When Animals Attack the most indie/razory/like a pop Fugazi
Downlift the Uptrodden the most visceral/loudest/rockiest
All amazing records in their own right.
Decent 11 song playlist/introduction to Cable:
1) Seventy
2) Blindman
3) Oubliette
4) Blue Birds Are Blue
5) Freeze The Atlantic
6) Ultra Violet
7) Song #1
9) Arthur Walker
10)Honolulu
11) Vertigo
Gah...
Add God Gave Me Gravity to 7) and push Song #1 to 8)
Indeed
A Cable playlist missing God Gave Me Gravity is a bad Cable playlist.
I think
we can all conclude that Cable are the biggest draw on this 3-date tour. We need headline dates in small, sweaty venues and a truck load of new Cable merchandise.
I would be gutted if they didn't play Comprendez!
Or was it Comprendez?
Wehey
Standing tickets purchased. Gonna party like it's 2005
*2002
I can't believe IAOS is a decade old!
This seem the perfect opportunity to post the Cable 'movie' - When Animals Attack
Quite a good place to sample a bunch of WAA tracks too.
My mate had this on VHS, we used to watch it all the time.

Does anyone
want to buy a ticket for the sold-out Saturday show? (Face Value) - as I'm now going to the Cable headline show in Derby on 21 Nov instead
Derby road trip!
Ex. Cited. I knew I wouldnt have to go to the London show for 25mins to a bored crowd taking pics of each other at 6.45pm.
Bumpity jaggity bump
http://www.clashmusic.com/news/cable-discuss-their-reformation
^^ Matt Bagguley, innit.
Nice interview
Bit of a stretch to suggest that those gigs only sold out because of Cable though, in second support slot!
Possibly, but I know a lot of people going and they're all going because of Cable.
Perhaps I got a little bit caught up in the whirlwind. I should clarify, I did the interview.
The 300 people hometown gig
hasn't sold out so I think you might have been swept along a little! I like it though, and it's an enthusiasm I share about the Derby Fugazi.
What?
Apologies
For anyone going to see Cable in Manchester or London. There won't be any merch left as I am buying it all in Derby at the warm up show
I may commit the ultimate faux pas and wear a cable tee to a cable gig
They're the only band bar the unicorns left that I wanted to reform

Excited.

Load of these on eBay
at face value or close enough. Knock yourself out!
Well that was feckin
great.
anyone off tomorrow?
I'm going tonight
SO FCKING EXCITED
Did you dowse for this information with a cable location device?
anyone have any set times?
should just ring the venue really
yes, from twitter...rough times for all dates:
doors: 6:30
Cable: 7:30
HIFH: 8:15
HR: 9:35
ah. lovely
thanks
Cable on at 7:30
So, you know... get there before then.
yesterday's gig was really great, the reception they got after their first song sounded like it was coming from a venue 10 times its size and you could tell the band were loving it. They were alot louder than I remember them, probably in the top 10 gigs ive been to
So so good, but so so short...!
Only half an hour? I got a setlist and they had a plan for at least a 40 min set. I was a bit disgusted by that and left two songs into HIFH who I wasn't taking to anyway. Did bump into Matt in the lobby though and condensed the "arg, yer my hero, please do some more shows" into about two syllables and ran away. He was beaming ear to ear and looked like he was absolutely stoked by the response.
Richie's beard was amazing.
Cable was good. Very pleasant. I wouldn't call their set amazing, or even "OMG EPIC", as they just weren't lively enough on stage. I really enjoyed them though.
Hell Is For Heroes blew me out of the water though. They were crazy good live. It's a shame their debut album didn't get more exposure. It really is a gem.
Hundred Reasons were good too.
Saw
HIFH play a warm up gig in Kingston on Weds. Pretty brill gig.
So was wednesday
HR - Exeter
HIFH - Kingston
Cable - Derby
?
Nice.
Wish I'd known about that, wasn't it at the Peel?
yeah
The Peel. He was singing upside down and standing on the ceiling at one point.
Hell is for Heroes were awesome and as good as i remember them
Hundred reasons not so good. Colin hasn't aged well.
Still a great gig though
What happened in Manchester
For Cable to feel the need to apologise?
technical
problems with sound.
Ta
So what do we reckon, more shows in 2013? they need to use those two new Blackstar amnps they clearly bought for these gigs again, right?
I reckon so.
Yeah it all ground to a halt after Song 1
for about ten minutes whilst they tried to fix a problem with Matt's guitar. Richie had a bit of a hissy fit and chucked his sticks on the floor.
They recovered but lost a few songs from the set (including Seventy which Matt played a brief bit of but quickly moved onto Oubliette.) Was a shame but I was in Derby and that really was the most special of nights.
Don't see why they won't do at least a few shows/festivals a year as this has been such a success.
In my never ending campaign
For the words "split up" and "reformed" to be meaningless, they might as well just leave it out there with them as a thing that exists and then do a few things a year as you say.
Derby was really something right?
i'm pretty glad I made the 300 mile round trip, I thought before hand it might have been a bit much but it was totally worth it. I can't think of another gig that seemed so joyous, and had such a momentum. I saw them a fair few times back in the day but I honestly think they were on better form now then they were back then which is quite something seeings as they only had a couple of practices in 13 years. Went to the forum as well, thought it wouldnt be quite the same in a big venue but it worked just as well there.
I did very similar
Bristol road trip. Was great. Had no interest in the London shows, so was putting all my chips on that one gig, and was really fantastic.
Came up from London, very worth it.
JimmyHuntspill, did we meet in a lift the next morning?
Ha!
I am pretty sure I didn't meet anyone in a lift, but you may have met my mate, as was in a different hotel to me. I think he may have chatted to a fellow fan or two.
May well have been him.
If he stayed in a hotel with holes in the walls and bleach stains on the hall carpets that is.
Ahhh
The Rangemoor I presume?
Hence why I stayed elsewhere. Massive hotel snob.
No, Metro Inns Derby
Clearly quite a Bristol contingent there.
Hotel was a proper tip, never seen anything like it.
Ha!
That was opposite the Rangemoor. It looked so awful - like a disused office block from the 60's with a temporary hotel sign over the door. Loved it!
I was in the Cathedral Quarter, 4 starring it up for not much cash. My locally sourced artisan breakfast with the papers in a massive empty ballroom was awesome. So peaceful.
Oh and others have said, HIFH
totally stole the show. Absolutely brilliant.
The sound was awful for Cable and Hell is for Heroes
put a right downer on the evening for me. HR were solid though.
great gig
Cable/HIFH/HR were all fantastic (highlight for me was HIFH)
Downside: mate got his phone stolen in the pit.
Saw quite a few people looking for stuff at the end of the show, this seems to be fairly common now.
At least 40 people had their phones stolen at Forum
The next day when my brother reported his to the police, he was the 24th person with the same issue. Out of the last 3 Forum shows I've been to, 2 of them ended with a pal having their phone stolen. Seems all the Forum have really done about it is put signs up warning people to be vigilant and printed off a form to write down theft victims' details.
hmm, my ipod went missing
but I'm pretty sure it just fell out of my pocket when i took my baccy out, rather than being stolen
that
is why one hand is on my mobile phone at all times
They have teams
of people taking advantage of the moshpit to lift phones.
I had to leave halfway through HR's set
and got a thorough searching on the way out as they'd had reports of phones being nicked
Guess they can't do the same for everyone at the end but not sure what else they can really do
Glad they actually searched a few people on the way out
They certainly love doing it on the way in (when it affects their bar takings)
They could spend a little more on security and have a few 'plainclothes' people in the pit - or make an announcement before the main support/headliner to be vigilant - or put extra staff on at the cloakroom/reduce cloakroom costs to make it easier to stow your belongings and get them back quickly afterwards
All better options than slowly letting your venue get associated with regular theft and watching people head to gigs elsewhere instead.
Also, it's entirely possible that theft going unchecked on this kind of scale means someone on the inside too.
So Cable london gig then....
...according to their Facebook.
for those
with facebook blocked at work, can you pleeeease give details?
Also: Yay.
Says something like
"We might be about to announce a London show."
Or similar.
Not sure why i made up that wording...
POSSIBLE LONDON SHOW COMING UP
Also
It will be London only. and soon. and hopefully on a weekend so you folks can travel. We cannot tour I'm afraid.. But we didn't have chance to do london ourselves last week, so we're gonna put that right..
Crikey
where to start with requests..!
9th Feb
The Garage. Tickets on sale friday.
interview
http://drownedinsound.com/in_depth/4145962-%E2%80%9Cwe%E2%80%99d-all-love-to-write-new-music-it%E2%80%99s-just-a-question-of-how%E2%80%9D-dis-meets-cable
Can't wait to see them at the Garage. They were great supporting 100R at the Coronet.
Hope they have some tees at the show.
am selling
2 tickets for the Garage gig
£35 for the pair
good supports for that gig
cold pumas + the guy from Bivouac.
(re: that interview above - why has it taken 2 months to write?!)
yah. i'm still going; i just have an excess of tickets
oh yeh should probably ad an email for non-DiS users. it's turbogerbil@gmail.com
(re: interview - the DiS typing monkey probably broke a finger)
Embarrassing delay...
...but my wife had a baby, life got a bit crazy.
ah, we'll let you off then!
They were really spectacular. Really, really spectacular.
Very much so
Was wonderful to see the Garage was sold out for the show, a very responsive audience and a band that were completely gobsmacked by the reaction. I did wonder whether they were a bit overwhelmed by it all as they didn't seem to have a setlist for the last third and they of course ran straight into the Garage's curfew and had to stop!
Hope that's not finito for them, there's obviously so much love for them to do something else it would be a shame for them not to.
Also, Cold Pumas won me over in the end even if they looked slightly odd :D
They played the setlist as planned, there's a pic of it on Facebook.
It was probably even better than the Derby show to be honest, so glad to hear Ultra Violet and Whisper Firing Line this time.
There were so many people with beaming grins in the crowd, brilliant atmosphere.
Frankly I was amazed that there were people who know every single word to every single song.
