New Allo Darlin' is just an incredible record. Listened to it five times in a row yesterday and listen to it thrice more since, just about to put it on once again. Described them to incandenza last night as the indie-pop megazord, they sound like they've absorbed the entire history of guitar pop music and taken the best bits out of it all. My favourite band.

the Hundred Waters record is also very good. I made a thread about them. Like organic folky textures really cleverly married with hypnagogic pop ?? Listen on their site or youtube or whatever.

Was hoping the name change would make Hype Williams sound like something better than just an inept James Pants. unbelievably over-feted.

The Quakers record is loads of really short songs so it was obviously going to be top. I am still obsessed with The Aislers Set so I think they will stay in that position for some time yet though I imagine within a week Allo Darlin' will be way in front of everyone else. Molly Nilsson is really cool

    2) b) Did a thread on him which no-one read. Had wrongly written him as more murky hazy post-dubstep stuff in the same vein as Vex'd, but woah, it's a bit of a departure. Indulge me. http://drownedinsound.com/community/boards/music/4340962

    4) I like this, but I don't like all of it yet. I dunno, it's sort of indigestible and a bit chaotic, which really surprised me given how smooth the mixtapes are.

5)b) Good dinner party muzak. F'real. All my guests commented on the music in a positive way.

Shows how much I like the Actress record I guess. I don't remember listening to that much Hype Williams. In fact I rarely remember anything about listening to Hype Williams. It just drifts past you, barely registering.

1a – Wonderful new record. This and the new High on Fire are giving me a sore neck. Title track is too much: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=01daKZbiOKg

1b – Disgusting mix of noise and black metal with subterranean undertones of doom. There's about a thousand free downloads on their Bandcamp. I only got Magical Mortician and have been so into it I haven't got round to listening to anything else yet.

3 – I am warming to Cynic's New Year, I definitely wasn't listening properly before. Fit Against the Country is great: http://soundcloud.com/all-around-sound-blog/horse-feathers-fit-against-the

6 – Bloom is blooming marvellous. Bah. Does what Beach House do pretty much the same as before, which is to say, pretty. Except for the never ending high pitched tone that wobbles on lock through the whole of Irene – that's intended as a compliment. It harmonises and clashes as the rest of the song moves along underneath it. Lovely.

7 – Experimental black/drone/doom/noise lovers need the new Wreck and Reference in their lives. And if you don't already know them, get Black Cassette too. Two guys, no guitars, all metal: http://wreckandreference.bandcamp.com/

9 - Parov Stelar is very addictive car listening. So much so, I am awarding All Night the prestigious Track of The Week award, fwiw. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hhyqz23neCY

This just looks like my weekly listening! Boo. I haven't been listening to a massive amount of music recently which says something, although I'm not sure what. I have been Soundclouding Light Asylum's LP a lot, that would probably be in here if Soundcloud scrobbled. There's a stats lovers dream right there.

1 - Lower Dens is a bit too dull to be my top listen for the month, I'm a bit disappointed with myself there.

2 - Polica's Wandering Star might be my Track of the Month, fwiw pt.2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TrgZqMBrzBg

4 – The artwork is totally sick and, this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P2dVwtZR4M4

5 - I will probably never stop listening to that Run DMT album, especially as the weather is warming up again and it's made for the sun.

10 - Cloud Nothings is probably my album of the year at the moment. Well done Cloud Nothings.
