Can we have a thread about great Bandcamp finds?
Here's three I've loved recently:
http://brotherghostband.bandcamp.com/
http://oppositesex.bandcamp.com/album/opposite-sex
http://thenocturnes.bandcamp.com/album/aokigahara (free)
JAGs are okay too, I guess.

straight up
This is great. Grungy punk rock, a bit like Japandroids but meaner
They just had a track on Howling Owl Records
split 12" for record store day. Which is bloody ace; http://www.goldflakepaint.co.uk/?p=7683
fuck, this rules HARD
yeah
this album's an absolute peach
Thanks to this post
I went to see United Fruit at a Local Rock Concert, and it was pretty great.
Really love this EP.
Dark and dirty ambient shoegazey kinda thing; http://mentalease.bandcamp.com/
this is pretty good
my only complaint is the extreme stereo separation on the first track. Having the drum track only in the right ear gets a bit annoying after a bit.
yeah, tis a little strange
not sure if it's deliberate or not.
Thoughts Seize is all kinds of wonderful though.
Disko-ions (Diskortion Records)
http://diskortion.bandcamp.com

Tri-vocalled noodley post-hardcore
http://withoutmaps.bandcamp.com/album/jcvd-single
[jag disclaimer]
some good things here mang
:)
Here's a few:
http://andresgualdron.bandcamp.com/album/andr-s-gualdr-n-y-los-animales-blancos
http://newanimal.bandcamp.com/album/new-animal
http://monsterrally.bandcamp.com/album/coral-lp
This 'label' is often good http://jellyfishrecordings.bandcamp.com/
http://lookstranger.bandcamp.com/
http://spanishprisoners.bandcamp.com/album/gold-fools
http://straykites.bandcamp.com/
Some are finds, some have been recommended to me (usually on here) but honestly can't remember which is which. I like bandcamp, but it is kind of arduous, and rarely veres away from bedroom projects. Will trawl this thread to seek gems.
I'll bump this thread...
to add some descriptions whioch are pretty essential
Andres Gualdron - Sort of discordant folk at its core, though some songs morph into more glitchy/dance orientated numbers.
New Animal - Tribal Psychedelia. Good at building songs gradually.
Monster Rally - Nostalgic loop based stuff, warm and hazy.
Jellyfishrecordings release instrumental hip hop.
Look, Stranger! - Impossibly smooth stuff, reminiscent of Gayngs though more bright and breezy.
Spanish Prisoners - Guitar pop, strong melodies throughout.
Stray Kites - Frenetic lo-fi songs with bitter lyrics.
some recentish discoveries
http://passengerca.bandcamp.com/
awesome melodic hardcore\post-hardcore featuring a member of Black Sheep Wall.
http://footballetc.bandcamp.com/
buoyant female fronted 90's emo
http://themodusvivendi.bandcamp.com/
rowdy, Fugazi influenced post-hardcore.
Some cool stuff
http://keelher.bandcamp.com/
the female R. Stevie Moore
http://slowlorismusic.bandcamp.com/
cool chillwavy guitar pop
http://sequeltoyourlife.bandcamp.com/album/gbv-covers
super shitty lo-fi GBV covers
Slow Loris
sounds great on first listen, cheers.
http://bodyinthethames.bandcamp.com/track/3d-body-in-the-thames-anaglyph-mix
These are both really great
http://aldoum.bandcamp.com/
Al Doum and the Faryds - 'S/T' LP.
Came out earlier this year. Volcanic Tongue flipped over it and sold out in about 3 hours. Italian band (I think) doing Turkish psych.
http://gypsytreasures.bandcamp.com/
Gypsy Treasures - 'Buried Goods' LP.
Originally came out as a tape on Not Not Fun, cross of modern psych and Sublime Frequencies style sounds
That Gypsy Treasures one
is ace.
http://blackestlava.bandcamp.com/
Makes really bass-heavy, distorted noise stuff but w/ some semblance of rhythm and stuff. His older stuff is more typical (but still great) black metal.
http://pietnastka.bandcamp.com/
Alias of Piotr Kurek - not really sure how to describe this one. Exotic, both dated and futuristic accordion/synth jams.
http://eaglechalice.bandcamp.com/
Some albums are lo-fi synth funk kind of stuff, some are ambient, Hot Glue is like listening to dubstep in a cave.
This sampler is great.
Especially Cube Face. Shit name, but amazing songs.
http://cadencecollective.bandcamp.com/album/cadence-sampler
Found this lovely intrumental folk group:
http://banishingritual.bandcamp.com/
Dada Trash Collage

inku.bandcamp.com
deadonarrival.bandcamp.com

both of these are free at any quality
one is my solo album and the other a 2 track of band i was in. Think glassjaw, deftones meets mars volta or something more experiemental.
Snork Maiden "Cake Artistry Centre"
http://snorkmaiden.bandcamp.com/
Kind of total JAG, it's my friends and long term collaborators from Newport SNORK MAIDEN. They started off as Masonna-worshiping harsh noise and by the end of their career were making this amazing odd noise/pop/electro/??? stuff, never really got the recognition they should/could have in my opinion.
They went on to do kind of electro-shoegaze as Thinking with Sand - http://thinkingwithsand.bandcamp.com/
Also one member of the band is now in superb south wales grindcore band ATOMCK who also have some good free bandcamp stuff if you like that sort of thing - atomck.bandcamp.com/album/yes-to-alien-victory
Hope some of you will enjoy ^____^/
hmm i seem to be credited on that album as playing
"ipod, sampling keyboard, bin bag" :D
I like this snork maiden album
Thanks!
I'm glad, happy to oblige :)
Fuck it, I've not Jagged for a few weeks
This is the new O'Messy Life single, and the fact that my label is releasing it is neither here nor there.
http://tinylights.bandcamp.com/album/little-vehicles-space-holiday
I love this band.
Moth Effect
I like the Moth Effect
http://motheffect.bandcamp.com/
Sort of krauty space stuff with beats. Bit spooky in places too.
CAMP STAG (jagtastic)
http://sirens.campstag.net/
The OP really shouldn't have said JAGs are okay
ffs
Yeah, sorry about that.
Ctrl + F "wiht"
Whut?
http://wihtleeds.bandcamp.com/
Recommendation from one of the heavy music megathreads on here, so probably old news. Sort of stonery/doom thing and really, really excellent.
Gerry Diver's Speech Project
http://speechproject.bandcamp.com/ A pure gem of an album i keep returning to...have a listen.
INVALIDS
http://invalids.bandcamp.com/ like the early maps & atlases stuff
Adam Russell
http://adamrussell.bandcamp.com/
Ambitious, aggressive pop from the streets of south Kent.
Couple more beauts
http://speculator.bandcamp.com/album/lifestyle
Speculator - 'Lifestyle'
Anything on Mathewdavid's Leaving Records (Julia Holter, Sun Araw etc) is worth checking out and this was originally a tape put out by them in 2010.
http://uton.bandcamp.com/
Think this might be the bandcamp jackpot! Twenty plus albums of Finnish folk/psych/drone originally out on labels like Digitalis, Sloow, Students of Decay etc with 95% of them being free downloads. Keep you going for the year!
I've really enjoyed this thread
Lots of brilliant recommendations. Thanks everyone.
Honeyblood
Came across this last night and really like it.
http://honeyblood.bandcamp.com/
There's also another new track on their soundcloud which is the best thing I've heard in quite some time - http://soundcloud.com/honeyblood/super-rat
British Theatre (ex-Oceansize members)

Seconding the Everyone to the Anderson recommendation
Double seconding the Everyone to the Anderson recommendation.
That record got me through a lot of long nights in the uni library.
Seconding that double seconding
Downloaded after a recommendation on here... cool stuff.
Quick JAG for a friend:
http://mountainschmountain.bandcamp.com/
For fans of Pedro The Lion, Christine Fellows, Weakerthans, etc.
The singer in Vasco Da Gama
sounds quite a bit like him from Feeder, I think. Not bad at all, however.

http://chazknapp.bandcamp.com/
Me Succeeds is cool
Kinda reminds me of more upbeat and organic Lali Puna.
Must go through this thread properly for hidden gems, at some time when it isn't 11pm.
Lali puna was the first thing i thought when i heard it too
just a slightly fuller band sound and the occasional male vocal.
Magnapinna are awesome.
Still working through these, but that Born Gold one is cracking
Cheers.
no worries, glad you like
born gold used to be called gobble gobble there's a free legal download link here to their first album, its a little bit more chilled overall than bodysongs but equally good
http://rrfr.bigcartel.com/product/gobble-gobble-neon-graveyard-12-lp
really great when labels go up there like that futurerecordings one
http://futurerecordings.bandcamp.com/
http://mini50records.bandcamp.com/
http://richtercollective.bandcamp.com/
Expo '70
http://exposeventy.bandcamp.com/
None of these are free, but they are pretty cheap and are all incredible
and if you liked those...
http://brainworlds.bandcamp.com/
More amazing outer space drones
This band emailed me today asking for a review.
They described themselves as "Elliott Smith/Brand New". As if I could ever not listen to that. I hear Smashing Pumpkins more than Brand New but It's really really good. New favourite band;
http://americanwolf.bandcamp.com/
Love this.
Ages ago someone on here linked this
http://rozwellkid.bandcamp.com/
And I was a bit obsessed with this great little album - sounds kinda like the spiritual brother of Weezer's blue album. Lovely stuff
Yep, I remember this.
Really good.
Forgot about this one.
Need to listen again.
Oh yeah, that's an other excellent recommendation from the past
I reckoned it was a bit more Nada Surf meets Blue Album.
http://highgrademedia.bandcamp.com/album/enfeld If you like a bit of Autechre
http://abstractionmusic.bandcamp.com/album/moments-of-silence Quality Ambient album.
http://ochre.bandcamp.com/album/lemodie Lovely melodic Electronica, comparable to Plaid.
http://coldtearrecords.bandcamp.com/album/visa Decent bit of Dub Techno on a good label.
http://neonpulse.bandcamp.com/album/field-recordings-from-the-heart-station Ambient/Drone double album.
Just saw this High Wolf put a bunch of albums up:
http://highwolf.bandcamp.com
includes last year's amazing 'Atlas Nation' LP and this year's 'Know Thyself' tape; all of them are 'name your price'. Awesome "tropical drone" sounds. If you dig 'Beach Head' or 'Heavy Deads' by Sun Araw and haven't checked this guy out, now is the time!
Stellarium
+ Screen Vinyl Image
http://stellarium.bandcamp.com/
http://screenvinylimage.bandcamp.com/

Rabbit Milk
http://rabbitmilk.bandcamp.com/
He had posted something on the forum himself and checked him out. Very good.
Can I say my band?
Our first album came out last week:
http://termitesmusic.bandcamp.com/album/termites
Free tracks on there too. Never jagged before- never will again!
Sproatly Smith and Rain Drinkers
http://sproatlysmith.bandcamp.com/
English psychedelia, very high quality, retro but somehow still fresh. Several free albums, Pixieled is my pick
http://raindrinkers.bandcamp.com/
Ambient/experimental but involving too, again several free albums, Bore upon the Breath of Dawn is my fave
SAUNA YOUTH
I really like this.
http://observerdrift.bandcamp.com/

http://eagleowl.bandcamp.com
might as well move in for a cheeky JAG...
http://mutebranches.bandcamp.com
eagleowl are brilliant.
so true
came up on my last.fm recommendations once, the sort of band that really should be bigger.
Two great labels on Bandcamp
Cakes and Tapes - http://cakesandtapes.bandcamp.com/ (Portuguese alt-pop label; Fade Cave EP by Yellow Ostrich and Natural Conspiracy by Plastic Flowers are recommended)
EXITAB - http://exitab.exitmusic.org/ (Slovakian-based electronica and alternative label; NADA by Gwerkova and Exchanging by Isobutane are great albums)
