The Young Echo crew from Bristol have been killing it of late on labels like Left Blank, Punch Drunk and Box Clever to name a few. I think Peverelist summed it up pretty well, 'The Young Echo crew are definitely some of the most exciting prospects in the city, they’ve got no interest in affiliation to a scene or toeing the line and that’s refreshing'. They've got a diverse sound that kind of fits anywhere between noise/ambient/dubstep/dub/bass/house/fuckknows and they really make it work. So I reckon they deserve their own thread since they'll prob keep killing it this year too. Check out their site for radio shows and tracks.

Didn't realise they had a dedicated site

Kahn's 12 (alonside the Andy Mac & Ekoplekz ones) was one of the best thing to come out of Bristol last year. His mixes for SR & Fact were a particular highlight too.

  Who wouldn't want to listen to a Sonic Router mix, oh yeah big 12"s too love um. The site is wicked nice little updates on all the members and they stream the Young Echo readio show on there. They're pure vibes, I love the one they did recently with Pev.

Young Echo are beautiful

hands down the most forward thinking collective based in Bristol at the moment. El Kid's String Loops are amazing as well. picked up the tape the other week

I play in a band in Bristol and we've worked closely with Young Echo recently; they've all done remixes of one of our songs and every result has been different and wowing everything.

  Best bet is Idle Hands/Chemical for that I guess, if they're open today/when they update their sites.     Gorgon & Dubkasm smashed it to bits on saturday night. new Roots Radicals Sound System powered the whole thing and it was beautiful.

- I played at this...vibes was nice
  
  it was great of them to have had bands and noise mongers as opposed to other dance acts...sailed a lot closer to El Kid's type of output as opposed to the steppa fest that was last session (not a bad thing by any means, just nice for them to have mixed it up a wee bit).

Last night's show with Appleblim was lovely

Was down at the studio for a bit, really great vibes. El Kid's on some really interesting new things this year as well, his newer house tracks are far weirder, more downbeat and more 'Young Echo'ish (deep, moody, bassy, soundscapey) than anything else he's done so far.

If anyone picks up a copy of the Wire this month there's a feature on them in the front few pages...

they took me elsewhere...Alex on the mic fits so well over the Zhou/El Kid esq beats and drones. really good.

played with Tapes who I had no idea was as good as his name suggested! dubplates played off two tape machines! werid, amazing sounds through the Roots Radical Sound as well...interesting variety of music. Peng Sound does it again.
