D-beat
It's swiftly become my favourite sub-genre of punk. These seems to be some seriously punishingly heavy bands out there working it into their music.
Who are your favourite d-beat influenced bands?
I'm loving at the moment
Lavotchkin
Cursed
Masakari
End Reign
Coilguns ( just found these guys, it's like DEP meets d-beat and DFA1979 )
and of course Discharge

i would argue that some of the bands youve listed arnt dbeat but whatevs.
I agree, but they do have d-beat influences.
disfear
modern stuff
Tragedy
the second Coliseum album, No Salvation, is much d-beatier than their other stuff
Skitsystem
Victims
Wolfpack/Wolfbrigade
I waste my time reviewing this shite for fun:
http://repulsiverevolutions.blogspot.com/
I think I've seen all of them.
all those swedeish "D-something" bands
yeh they're well good them
Don't know this stuff very well
but randomly was listening to DISCLOSE "Raw Brutal Assault Vol. 1" and that's pretty much the best guitar sound ever
Doom
from Birmingham were awesome.
POLICE BASTARD! etc
although they're more crust punk to be fair
I've been listening to them recently, great band forefathers of grindcore I'm told.
I was lucky enough to catch them live about 5/6 years ago
just before their singer passed away. Very impressive live band
Didn't they play an ATP?
I assume it was with a new singer right?
ps. awesome blog for old crust/d-beat 7inch stuff
http://7inchcrust.blogspot.com/
thanks for this!
i still don't really know what d-beat is
but i've been enjoying:
withdrawal - faith, flesh & blood
plagues - ep
martyrdod - sekt
and have probably seem them described as such recently.
oathbreaker & full of hell too maybe??
oathbreaker are the tits
I've heard Oathbreaker's name slung around...I'll check them out.

cool
but apart from disfear/discharge not many bands that you see referred to as d beat actually do the kick snare kick kick snare thing very much. it's all a big jumbly genre mess and i try to get my pre-emptive ignorance stike in very early so as to avoid ''i would argue that some of the bands youve listed arnt dbeat but whatevs.''/having discussions about what constitutes a genre. it's not working very well.
yeah exactly
it's deffo all about the slightly off-kilter drumming, other than that it has a lot in common with crust punk in my opinion. then there's the whole japanese scene hardcore/crust/crashcore/japcore (I think these are real genres anyway...?)
Bands like- Battle of Disarm, Collapse Society, Destroy and Crocodile Skink. Kind of my favourite nation for this kind of thing as it just sounds so brutal. The blog I posted up thread has some really great stuff archived so check it out if you're interested...
*scene of
I hate that microgenre thing
Seems to be more prevalent in dance/electronic music but when it comes down to it being 'all about the off-kilter drumming' it just seems kind of ridiculous. If a band's drummer gets better at playing does that mean they change genres? Nonsense.
I know what you mean here but d-beat is relevant because just so many people imitated them.
the off-kilter drumming is just how d-beat is characterised
and for better or worse musical genres are defined by recurring traits. it isn't something to get anal about in my opinion, its just how it is. ie. grindcore using blastbeat drumming
Gotta admit I want to get more into crust/d-beat pretty much just because there are such amazing band logos/t-shirt designs ^u^;
also FUK
Asbo Hitler and Cider Violence. 2 fantastic tracks. its Gabba from ChaosUK's new(not so new but new if you know what i mean) band.

.
best song by them = mirror in d bathroom
none of those band names start with "Dis"
DiScharge
oh cool it's a bumped thread
Misantropic
was my find of the year two years ago.
Probably just about counts as D-Beat but with crust overtones and female vocals which makes a pleasant change
you should check out Nails if you haven't already
