Who remembers Guardian Free CDs?
These were pretty darn good, turned me onto Belle and Sebastian, Nick Cave, Franz Ferdinand, Kings of Leon, Groove Armada, the list goes on. Why were they cancelled?
Also much love to the bizarre lesser-known bands who appeared such as Little Barrie and Chikinki.

saving the environment or whatever
I would guess money. They gave a free Midlake download thing away the other day I think. the "future"
Now all we lefties get is the free guides, which nobody wants.
I saw a load of those in a charity shop earlier
Nearly picked up one which had 'Lazy' by David Byrne and someone on it. In fact if they've still got it in tomorrow I think I will buy it
Lazy is a cool song, I like that solo album.
Glass and Concrete and Stone etc.
I've got a few of these
the one with lazy on weirdly had 3 orbital tracks on. I like the one with Lemon Jelly's 'the fruity track' on cos i haven't got it on anything else. Plus it says available on the album 64-95, when that is a total lie.
Just picked up both of them
Cheers for the shout on the Lemon Jelly track. When I glanced over the CD in the charity shop yesterday I didn't realise that the track was one that wasn't on 64-95
I've got the one with Helicopter, think it's the same one
And a band called HAL who are great, were dropped from Rough Trade according to wiki. Shame.
i forget which newspaper it was
but i remember a bjork cd with songs form her first two albums on it, i still have it somewhere
I got the Mongrel album out of the Independent, not a bad record
Jon McClure is as shamelesds hypocrite but it's better than Reverend and the Makers
