the cardigans - long gone before daylight
an overlooked gem. and i freely admit to being one of those who overlooked it. Listened to this today on spotify. What a wonderfully old and dusty sounding record. melancholic, wistful and tired in the best way possible.

absolutely, brilliant album
when i first started listening to it a few years ago i was mostly into the angstier stuff like please sister and feathers and down and 3:45 no sleep, and it's not that i don't like those songs now because they're still wonderful, but i rediscovered the album through listening to live and learn/a good horse/you're the storm. strangely i find the first single (for what it's worth) to be one of the least interesting songs on the album, while still a very decent effort compared to a lot of other stuff.
yeah it's funny what the advancing years do to your tastes
the older i get, the more i find i want to listen to stuff like this. Her voice sounds really soulful on it, especially on 'and then you kissed me' and the chorus on 'a good horse' is one of those ones you just want them to keep repeating again and again...
a good horse always makes me giggle, it sounds like she's going to say "whore"
I adored Gran Turismo when I was an early teen
I think I listened to this album once back then and rubbished it, and this is my first proper listen to it since then. Very nice indeed.
Lost so much respect for The Cardigans when I saw them live, they were dreadful and Nina was a right diva, have barely listened to them since, but this is lovely.
i've never seen them live, saw A camp though
What did she do that was diva-esque? I'd still quite like to see them play, if they ever tour again. I'd imagine they'd be good to see in a place like royal festival hall perhaps.
Speaking of A Camp
Nina's new A Camp album is one of 2009's most overlooked wonders, along with Erin McKeown's Hundreds Of Lions.
I love this album
Most of the other Cardigans albums are a bit hit and miss but this is just gorgeous. My heart melts every time during "Communication", the backing vocals on "Live and Learn" are simply brilliant, and... I could list everything, really. Wonderful album.
Lambchop
Apparently they were listening to Lambchop alot whilst recording this which may explain the rather more laid-back sound.
'Tis a very good album. May have to put it back on my creaking iPhone.
