3) I'm enjoying the LP. It's a little on the short side but solid.
7) another decent new album. Laptop shoegaze, very New Order-y in places.

1 - http://drownedinsound.com/community/boards/music/4204546 out on pre-order now.
2 - considering this is a just single mp3 of the new album you can tell i've basically just been listening to this all the time. its great, its there most experiemental sounding but at the same time poppiest record, synths have been artfully used with small parts stepping into that "hynpagogic pop" realm with added beautiful ambience.
3 - i emailed hima couple of times this week about coming to do a european tour, he seems keen for next year, thats cool.
5 - Rollercoaster on LP is £90 on ebay :(
7 - I just bought Ready For House on LP but this mainly plays of Six and Six and the Glasgow Live albums.
8b - Earthly delights LP has been purchased, nice.
what is "hynpagogic pop" Henry?
The Wire was banging on about in the broadcast issue but i didnt get the one where they actually explained what it means.
i think it was a term coined by one of their writers David Keenan
in an article about the skaters, pocahaunted and emeralds, in fact i've got it open right now. hmm well i suppose he's trying to siginify the aspect of the half asleep aspect of music drifting in and out and stuff like that. which is incidentally how the united colours of trouble books was described as.
i was only using it jokingly up there, i'm not too much of a fan of the word/"genre", and i know keith mike and linda wouldn't take any notice of the term and just like making ambient, experimental pop songs.
of course i'm not much of an expert on hypnagogic pop and i'm sure there's others on here who'll know more about it.

3 I went to see cold Cave this week. I was slightly anxious that I would make a complete ass of myself during Life Magazine. In the event being stood behind a couple who looked as if they managed a branch of Alliance & Leicester my composure was held under control. Oh how I wanted to freak out to this fantastic music. Another time.
1, 7, 8 & 9 I only discovered these this week (the shame!).
my error, Mountain Debris release date is actually 30 November

1 - cremations. no 'love comes close', but still pretty ace.
I like Cremations more actually.
Apparently they only played a 20 minute set in Bath. Kinda glad I fell asleep on the sofa and woke up having missed it.
Ah really?
That kinda consoles me actually. I really wanted to see them in Manchester but didn't due to lack of both time and cash.

Civilised Worm is great innit
First I thought it was one of the cheesier Melvins songs but it became more epic with repeated listening. And it's great live too.

Thomas Function = so good. I got the actual LP today and it is badly pressed noisy piece of crap :( so hopefully they will send me another one. Burning Star Core and Burial are bringing in tha winter.
What BSC was that?
The new one? I want that.
Can't believe I flaked on the last ever USA Is A Monster shows :(
There's a new one?
I don't know! I was listening to Blood Lightning 2007 again. They were playing Usa is a Monster in the record shop when I was in there and I had to buy it. Well I didn't have to but it was only a fiver.
My bad
I thought Operator Dead, Post Abandoned had only just been released for some reason. Is it good? As I said, Challenger is sounding great right now. Like Brian Eno if he'd been mentally scarred by watching Alien as a child.
Blood Lightning & ODPA are both awesome
Big long tracks though. He is great at cramming everything into shorter tracks too Challenger-style. Hows about that track with the weird vocals and the piano. That one is the best!
My devolution towards CDs continues
1) Burning Star Core 17
2) Lightning Bolt 14
3) Madlib 6
4) Akron/Family 5
4) Nas 5
6) Howlin' Rain 1
6) Aesop Rock 1

1) Challenger is just what I need right now.
2) Earthly Delights is really amazing. Fuck tha "it's not noisy enough" haterz.
4) a) Set Em Wild Set Em Free is a really nice title for an album.
6) c) Letter To A Fanzine is a real nice song.
Otherwise, been rinsing Earth 2 as it's nice to study too. DJ Quik & Kurupt, APC and Li'l Wayne soundtracking my nights
A Perfect Circle and Lil Wayne yes
I just love their cover of John Lennon's 'Imagine'
I can feel Maynard's pain at the world's injustices. It's the sound of 3 million teenage girls wearing too much eyeliner and slitting their wrists in unison to protest against the Iraq War.
Especially when I follow it with Wayne's 'Black Republican'
woo i've never heard the covers album and it's on spotify
"Marvin Gaye's perfect "What's Going On" is turned into a horrible industrial track that would be permissible on a budget-line compilation but is simply unforgivable in its inclusion here."
uh oh!
feck the cover of Gimmie Gimme Gimmie is so bad!
\m/
It's awe inspiringly bad.
Man I love Earth 2

2) Amy Blue (pre-2nd album demos and our last show mp3s)
3) Henry Rollins (live spoken word stuff)
4) Mukilteo Fairies (Jason Trail of Dead's old band, quite screamy queer hardcore on Kill Rock Stars I think)

8) Portastatic (found a live bootleg and working way through Some Small History)
9) Beatles (getting over irrational hatred. I like about six of their songs now)
