Fucking hell
The Chameleons are brilliant though... if it gets them in ths spotlight for a bit then fair play.
Its not as bad as it could have been
but still pretty awful. At least it reminded me to listen to my favourate Chameleons song. What a tune.
I'm (literally) speechless! Still a great song though. And I'd definitely prefer to sit through this again rather than another 4 mins of soul destroying LilyGaga-ism, etc. It's not so far removed from some of St Etienne's more commercial moments really, is it...?
my band got compared to the chameleons the other day - we don't really sound that much like them btw - I'd never even heard of them. Listened to a song called monkeyland and it's TOP.
monkeyland is brilliant
It really is
the guitar riff is incredibly atmospheric.
Start with the greatest hits
every song is good on that. In particular Swamp thing, Don't Fall and of course Second Skin, which is my personal favourite.
I am jobless :'(
and therefore pennyless so it may be a while before I get to purchase that. I will try and remember though.
What a travesty!
Second Skin is one of my all-time favourite songs but this rendition is dog-shite. The Chameleons are amazing. Never understood why they don't get the same acclaim of contemporaries like Echo and the Bunnymen, The Cure etc.
I read about this collision of musical giants in the Observer last sunday.
"WHAT THE FUCK?"
I'm actually quite fond of Scooter in a strange way- don't take themselves too seriously, shout English cliches in German accents and wear lycra tank tops. I quite like it that they're fans of a band like the Chameleons.
And Chameleons- brilliant. Seemed to mix post punk, shoegaze, dream pop, even a few hints of disco/dance in there as well. Great at building up tension and then releasing at the right moment, great atmosphere, interesting song structures.
I think this cover is ok...
I agree about the Chameleons being sort of mysteriously unappreciated though. I only ever heard about them because people said Interpol were influenced by them. I'd like more fancy re-issues like the recent Script of the Bridge Anniversary Edition.
For Scooter to even KNOW that The Chameleons exists makes me secretly slightly fond of them! Obviously I wouldn't go as far as buying their retch-inducing single but that's not the point is it...?
I quite like it actually
good job Scooter
